Flamengo came up big against hated and bitter foe Fluminense. Flu is the defending Serie A champion.

Rubro-Negro and Flu was a battle royal.

The match changer happened in the 71^st minute.

Williams nailed the close ranger header to seal the deal for Mengao.

Ronaldinho Gaucho set up this entire sequence with a great pass to mate Junior Cesar on the left wing.

Cesar settled the ball on left side of the box. Junior Cesar swung the ball to mate to Thiago Neves dead center of the box. Neves chipped the ball to Williams who was camped near the right post.

All Williams had to do was deposit this sucker into the back of the net.

Nothing but the back of the net.

Game, set, and match for Flamengo.

Flamengo now has 19 points.

Mengao is three points behind the pole sitter Corinthians.

Timao has 22 points but we must remember Corinthians has a game in hand.

With the addition of Ronaldinho Gaucho has made Flamengo a more dangerous club.

Gaucho is learning how to be a team player instead of a scorer. Maybe his head case of wanting to be the focal point of the entire side is over.

Ronaldinho Gaucho in his last the four matches has three goals and two assists.

Since June 19^th Mengao is one a four match-winning streak.

We haven’t lost a match all season.

Rubro-Negro has five wins and four ties.

Up next for Mengao is Palmeiras on Sunday July 17^th in Sao Paulo.  Alviverde will have the advantage in their house Pacaembu.

Palmeiras sits in fourth place with 18 points.

Our win drought currently sits at six matches.

Two goals in our last six matches ain’t gonna cut the mustard either.

This is down right pathetic.

Tricolor ripped the twines in the 8^th minute. Marlos received a great pass from mate Marcelinho. Marlos had an easy shot past keeper Marcelo Lomba.

In the 42^nd minute Marlos returns the favor. He hits mate Fernandao. Fernandao nails the header past a helpless Lomba.

This time Mengao’s defense didn’t show up at all.

Já Diogo teve a proeza de em dois minutos ser expulso em lances bobos. “Com um homem a menos aqui sempre foi muito difícil”, lamentou Léo Moura na saída do gramado no intervalo.

The bad news is this both Leo Moura, Diogo, and Williams will miss Saturday’s match against Vitoria.

Flamengo stopped their three match winless streak with a lucky 1-0 win over Ceara.

Mengao’s offense was non-existent in the win.

 The only saving grace was a PK awarded when Rubro-Negro’s Williams made a mad rush into the box. This push forced Anderson to foul Williams in the 44^th minute.

Petkovic nailed the PK for the only tally of the match.

We picked up a much-needed win but if we don’t find a way to rip the twines, more often Flamengo is in deep do-do.

Marcelo Lomba played well in goal.

Newly signed Leandro Amaral and Renato Abreu played like crap. This was another one of those horrible signings by chief idiot Patricia Amorim. This lady needs to be fired.

Mengao took care of business in Caracas, Venezuela on Wednesday night. Flamengo took it to the home side and won going away 3-1 in the Copa Libertadores.

Vagner Love continued his torrid scoring pace.

Love hit the daily double.

Rubro-Negro’s first goal was the result of a penalty. Leonardo Moura made a great run into the box. He fired a wicked pass to Petkovic. The ball nipped the hand of Caracas defender Romero.

Magic presto Mengao has a gift.

Love nailed the PK in the 35^th minute to give us a 1-0 lead.

Caracas tied this baby up in the 65^th minute.

Castellin whipped a pass to mate Alvaro. Alvaro flat out beat Bruno to level the match at one all.

Flamengo pressed the attack.

Mengao was rewarded in the 79^th minute.

Vagner Love took it straight to the rack. He fired a rocket that hit the crossbar. The shot went ker plunk into the back of the net.

Mengao was up 2-1.

Rubro-Negro put this puppy away in the 93^rd minute.

Kleberson stole the ball in the Caracas end of the pitch. He whipped a pass to Rodrigo Alvirn.

Alvirn nailed this gimmie to put Caracas out of their misery.

We now are atop Group 8 with six points.

Yes, this was a much-needed win for Mengao in Caracas’s house.

Mengao entered this match with a lot of crazy stuff happening. Adriano had to miss this match because he and his fiancé are fighting.

Besides that, The Emperor is out of shape.

Without Adriano head man Andrade used Love as his lone striker. Petkovic was moved into the midfield. Sem o astro, o técnico Andrade optou por deixar apenas Vagner Love no ataque e voltou a escalar Petkovic como titular. Desde o Fla-Flu do dia 31 de janeiro, o qual foi substituído no intervalo e abandonou o estádio, o sérvio não iniciava um jogo.

Mengao defender Toro was sent to the sin bin for rough play in the 53^rd minute. This could have cost Mengao the match but the guys sucked it up and powered through being a man down to take the win.

Two bad things happened to Mengao. First Willams was lost due to an injury and then Toro was sent off for his second yellow card. The second card was an ugly foul. The ref had to send him bye-bye.

A partir daí, dois fatos inesperados. O primeiro aconteceu quando Fernando sentiu um problema muscular e teve de deixar o campo. Quando o Flamengo estava com um a menos, Gabriel Cichero deu um drible entre as pernas de Toró, que fez falta feia, recebeu o segundo amarelo e foi expulso. Em dois minutos, Andrade ficou sem seus dois volantes de marcação. O jeito foi improvisar Rodrigo Alvim, que substituiu Fernando.

Not a pretty win but us Flamengistas will take it.

Flamengo started out their match against Universidad Catolica with a dud. Mengao player Williams was given the heave-hoe in the second minute of the match. I guess Williams decided he didn’t like Martinez’s face so Williams gave it a little rearranging.

This was a no-no.

Bamo just like that we are one man down.

Up stepped Leo Moura who gave Rubro-Negro the lift we needed. He stopped. He popped and nailed the winner in the 10^th minute to give us 1-0 lead.

Not to be out done in stupidity Catolica returned the red card favor in the 42^nd minute. Diaz fired a wicked shot on goal. Clank the ball bounds off the cross bar. His mate Mirosevic didn’t like it so he decided to take out his frustration on Mengao player Toro.

I guess Mirosevic thought he was in the WWF so he stomped on his gut. He was given the you are outta here by the ref in the 42^nd minute.

Now we are all even Steven at ten men.

Flamengo made em pay in the 58^th minute. Leo Moura fed a perfect ball to Adriano. The Emperor rattled the cages to give us the 2-0 lead.

Vagner Love had a chance to make 3-0 but he wore the choke collar when he missed the gimmie PK late in the 82^nd minute.

A chance do terceiro gol saiu após passe de Adriano para Love. O Artilheiro do Amor foi puxado na área e, após consultar o bandeirinha, Amarilla marcou pênalti. Porém, o atacante cobrou mal, por cima do travessão. 

This win snapped our winless schnid of opening round matches in the Copa at nine.  This was our first win on opening day since 1984.

A huge shout out to the guys and way to go garoto.

Yes, a win is a win but Adriano and the guys were just not quite all there. There were many holes in the Flamengo “D”. The Chilean side had their chances but they missed it by that much. O gol dos chilenos ficou ainda mais perto quando Díaz bateu falta no travessão , aos 42 minutos. Só que, na volta, Mirosevic perdeu a cabeça e pisou na barriga de Toró. O árbitro o expulsou e igualou as equipes com dez em campo.

I am happy with the win but jeez, guys we really have to improve immensely if we are going to make it out of the Group stage.

Corinthians and Cruzeiro had hot dates in the Copa as well.

Corinthians took care of business by doubling up on Racing-Uruguay 2-1.

Cruzeiro clobbered Colo-Colo 4-1.   

Kleber hit the daily double for Raposa.

Thursday Sao Paulo battles Once Caldas.
