The Community Shield is the signal that the EPL season is one week away.
Oh, yes, what a glorious week leading up the start of the season it is.
August 14th is set to kickoff the season.
Manchester United battled archrival Chelsea at Wembley Sunday afternoon.
At stake the Community Shield title.
Both sides threw their best Sunday punches at each other.
In the end, Man U defeated the Blues 3-1.
The Blues and Man U looked in top form.
This will spell trouble for the rest of the EPL.
Rooney set up the Reds first goal.
The Rooney man fired a perfect cross to mate Antonio Valencia.
Valencia deposited the ball into the back of the net in the 41st minute.
The Blues kept up the pressure in the second half but they couldn’t crack the code.
Man U Javier Hernandez nailed a perfect shot first off his face and then into the back of the net to give the Reds a 2-0 lead in the 75th minute.
Valencia set it with a great dribble drive down the right side of the pitch.
This push forced the Chelsea “D” to break down and give Hernandez a path to the open net.
Kalou scored in the 75th minute to cut the Reds lead to 2-1.
Sturridge fired a blast from 25 yards out. Man U’s Edwin Vander Sar blocked the initial shot.
Shot. Rebound. Score.
The Blues ratcheted up the pressure.
Zippo. Nada.
The waste of a striker Dimitar Berbatov scored in the 92nd minute to seal the deal.
Berbatov played with the Blues “D” before he forced the keeper Henrique Hilario to leave his line. Berbatov flipped the Lolly Pop shot over Hilario’s head into the back of the net.
Game, set, and match to Man U.
Hopefully Berbatov will score this year instead of stinking the joint like he did last year.
The EPL starts for real Saturday August 14th.
I can’t wait.
The NFL can go screw itself.
My beloved Flamengo has a huge match with Corinthians coming up later on Sunday.
Timao is in second place with 25 points.
Mengao is hovering in tenth place.
Rubro-Negro is playing like crap.
We can’t find the back of the net with a machine gun or a Howitzer.
Flamengo needs help.
We need to win this sucker.
A loss or a tie is out of the question.
Mengao has two wins, one loss, and four draws on the road.
Pacaembu is hard place to play.
