It’s all over about but the shouting in the Apertura.
Boca Juniors won the whole banana.
Los Xeneizes took the top prize with 43 points.
This was Boca’s first title since 2005 when Los Xeneizes won the Apertura.
Racing was second with 31 points.
Velez Sarsfield was third with 31 points.
Racing had a plus eighth compared with Velez’s plus five.
Velez beat Racing 1-0 on the final day of competition but this win was not enough to over come a three-goal lead for Racing.
Demoted to Primera B River Plate beat Patronato de Parana 1-0.
The win moved Los Millionaires into second place with 33 points.
River Plate trails Instituto by two points.
The top two clubs in Primera B get the get outta jail free card.
Let’s see if Los Millionaires can hang in there and get back to the big Leagues.

Sitting in third place is Lanus with 23 points.
Lanus defeated Banfield 2-1.
Fourth place belongs to Atletico Rafaela with 23 points.
Rafaela and Belgrano tied nil-nil.
River Plate was regulated to D-2 ball.
Los Millionaires is top dog with 26 points.
It sure looks like River Plate will be back to the big boys next season.
Los Millionaires destroyed Gimnasia 4-1.
The guys in Europe are off due to the international break.
The EPL will return to action November 19th.
On Friday Argentina will battle Bolivia in World Cup qualifying.
Uruguay-Chile.
Columbia-Venezuela battle on Saturday.

It is all over but the shouting in the Argentinos Clausura. Velez Sarsfield wrapped up the title last week when they beat Huracan 2-0.
This is a done deal for El Fortin.
Velez Sarsfield has won the Clausura the last two out of three years.
El Fortin won in 2009.
In 2010 Velez Sarsfield dropped to ninth place in the table.
The battle will be for second place between Lanus, Godoy Cruz, and Argentinos Juniors.
El Granate has 32 points.
Tomba has 31 points.
Bichos Colorados has 29 points.
Lanus is in the drivers seat. All El Granate has to do is win their final match.
Godoy Cruz needs to win and hope that El Granate either loses or ties.
Argentinos Juniors is a long shot to take over second place.
Too many things have to happen for Bichos Colorado to slip past Velez Sarsfield.
Argentinos Juniors needs to win by thirteen goals and hopes that El Fortin loses by thirteen.
This ain’t gonna happen in this lifetime.
The best Bichos Colorados can hope for is that Godoy loses their final match of the season.
If this happens Argentinos Juniors will capture third place.

Juan Martinez broke the dead lock in the 64th minute.
Mate David Ramirez put this sucker away in the 90th minute.
Lanus took care of business beating Independiente 2-1.
Argentinos Juniors and Estudiantes tied nil-nil.
Lanus jumps into second place with the win.
Godoy drops to third place.
Boca falls to sixth while River Plate is now in eighth place.
There are two matches left in the winter season.
Velez Sarsfield, Lanus, and Godoy Cruz are the only three clubs to compete for the title.
El Fortin has 33 points.

The Copa Libertadores finals are set. Santos battles Penarol for the Copa title.
Penarol scored the lone away goal in this sucker to advance into finals past favorite Velez Sarsfield.
El Fortin won 2-1 at home but lost on away goals 1-0. The aggregate was tied at two all.
The death strike came in the 33rd minute.
Matias Mier nailed the winner with a great dribble into the box.
His shot flat out beat the keeper top shelf right.
Mate Alejandro Martinuccio set this puppy up with a great pass.
Velez Sarsfield had a chance to advance with a gift PK in the 75th minute.
Up steps, El Fortin’s Santiago Silva. He wore the choke collar big time.
Silva spilt the uprights.

Game, set, and a trip to the Copa Libertadores finals for the Manyas.
Penarol is one of the most successful futebol clubs in Uruguayan history.
The Manyas have won five Copa Libertadores. The last title came in 1987.
Santos last won the Copa in 1962.
Peixe made the Copa finals in 2003 but lost to Boca Juniors.
This should be a classic battle.
Remember Santos is the home of Pele and Charlie Brown Junior.

Santos hung on for dear life. Peixe and Cerro Porteno tied three all in Assuncao, Paraguay. Santos advanced on aggregate 4-3.
Peixe scored three first half goals to jump out to a 3-1 lead.
Cerro Porteno scored two second half goal to make this sucker close.
Neymar (45th minute) and Ze Eduardo (2nd minute) ripped the twines for Santos.
The difference in this puppy was an own goal by Porteno’s Diego Barreto in the 28th minute.
This was a classic keystone cops routine.
Neymar broke free into the offensive zone. This forced the keeper Diego Barreto to leave his line. Defender Pedro Benitez jumped between Neymar and the keeper. Benitez’s noggin hit the ball to the keeper Barreto. Barreto looked like he was swatting butterflies and batted the ball into the back of the net.
Game, set, and match to Peixe.
Peixe has not won the Copa Libertadores since 1963.
Santos also won this sucker in 1962.
Peixe’s last trip to the Copa finals happened 2003.
Santos lost to Boca Juniors.
Tonight Velez Sarsfield battles Penarol on Thursday night in El Fortin’s house in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Uruguayan side Penarol won the first leg 1-0 in their house in Montevideo.

Both Man U and Liverpool shared the record for most English division one crowns at 18.
Man U made to the Champions League finals the last three out of four years.
The mighty boys from Old Trafford won one and lost twice.
In 2009 and 2011, the Red Devils lost to the cheaters from Barcelona.
The Catalans have one of the best sides on the planet. Barca made Sir Alex and his chargers look like mere mortals.
When the Catalans won the 2009 title, they had a huge Bullseye on their backs.
They crashed and burned in the quarterfinals in 2009.
Will this happen in 2012 competition?
We will surely find out.

Swansea City booked their place in the EPL. The Swans defeated the Reading Choo-choo guys 4-2 at Wembley Stadium.
The hat trick by Swansea City’s Scott Sinclair spelled doom for the Royals.
Sinclair nailed two PK’s plus a laser shot into the back of the net in the 22nd minute to send the Swans to the Promised Land.
Scott Sinclair turned the tide for Swansea City in two-minute span.
A PK in the 20th minute and his lay up goal in the 22nd minute.
The Reading Choo-choo guys made to the First Division for the first time in 2006-07 but were sent packing in after the 2007-08 season.
This is Swansea City’s first trip to the English Futebol first division.
Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City already booked their spots with the big boys by finishing first and second in the English League Championship.

Santos didn’t give up an away goal in the 1-0 victory.
The match winner came in the 43rd minute.
Peixe’s Edu Dracena nailed the golden strike off a nifty dribble drive into the box by mate Neymar.
Dracena point blank header found the back of the net.
Santos has a 1-0 advantage.
