The guys from Mengao were down 2-1 on aggregate. We had the precious away goal. All my guys needed to do was win by shut out and it’s on to the main draw of the Copa Libertadores.

Rubro-Negro delivered the knockout blow. Flamengo won 2-0 at Mengao’s house.

Goals by Leo Moura and Ronaldinho Gaucho saved our butts big time.  The guys started out strong. Mengao applied the pressure of the outset. This gave us the win. Flamengo won 3-2 on aggregate.

UOL O Flamengo diminuiu um pouco da pressão, mas continuou assustando o Real Potosí. Bottinelli foi quem teve as melhores chances, com dois chutes perigosos. A equipe boliviana apenas se defendia. Já o Rubro-Negro perdia uma chance atrás da outra. Desta vez, Deivid chutou em cima do goleiro após bom passe de Luiz Antônio

Com tantas chances aparecendo, o Flamengo conseguiu abrir o placar. Ronaldinho Gaúcho cobrou uma falta da ponta direita para o meio da área. O lateral Léo Moura ignorou o penteado moicano e colocou a cabeça na bola para balançar a rede do Potosí: 1 a 0.

Na segunda etapa, o Flamengo seguiu com mais posse de bola, mas a procura para ampliar o placar não foi a mesma do primeiro tempo. A equipe rubro-negra tentou chegar à meta do Potosí com os chutes de longa distância. Renato assustou diversas vezes, mas sua pontaria não estava tão afiada. O time boliviano, por sua vez, resolveu sair mais para o jogo, principalmente após a entrada de Pol. No entanto, Felipe não chegou a tomar sustos.

Mengao will be in Group Two of the Copa Libertadores. Com a classificação, o Flamengo fará parte agora do Grupo 2 da fase de grupo da Libertadores. Os rivais desta chave serão Emelec-EQU, Lanús-ARG e Olímpia-PAR. O primeiro duelo rubro-negro nesta etapa será contra os argentinos, no próximo dia 15, em Buenos Aires-ARG. No entanto, pelo Campeonato Carioca, a equipe da Gávea terá um duelo já nesta sexta-feira, contra o Olaria, às 17h, no Engenhão.

Flamengo will battle Lanus in Argentina on February 15^th.

The play of Leo Moura was the main reason why the guys advanced to Group play in the Copa Libertadores. He has an assist in the first leg against Real Potosi. Moura’s goal got us off on the right foot. He dedicated the goal to his daughter.

Depois de dar bela assistência para o gol de Luiz Antonio no jogo de ida, o lateral-direito, de 33 anos, marcou de cabeça o primeiro na vitória por 2 a 0 sobre o Real Potosí, nesta quarta-feira à noite. Foi o gol de número 40 do jogador com a camisa rubro-negra e apenas o terceiro de cabeça. E serviu como presente para a filha Isabella.

Mengao has to go to Leao da Ilha’s house.

This is another one of those must win matches for Rubro-Negro.

Flamengo is in a horse race with Corinthians, Sao Paulo, and Vasco for the top spot in the table.

Timao has 37 points.

Mengao has 36.

Sao Paulo 35 and Vasco 35.

Botafogo and Palmeiras are just off the pace.

Fogao has 34 points while Alviverde has 32 points.

The race is on.

Flamengo has two wins, one loss, and three draws with Avai.

Mengao had a chance to capture first place in the Brasileiros Serie A. Not on this day Flamengo was lucky to tie their arch rival Vasco nil-nil.

The continuous acts of stupidity haunt Rubro-Negro.

Welinton was given the heave-hoe in the 41^st minute.

The act of brilliance almost cost Mengao big time.

The hero of the match was Felipe.

He stopped shot after shot to save Flamengo’s hide.

Corinthians lost to Palmeiras 2-1.

Vasco is now one point behind Mengao.

Flamengo has 36 points.

O início do jogo foi eletrizante. O Vasco teve uma boa oportunidade logo aos quatro minutos, com Fagner, em um chute à direita do gol de Felipe. O Flamengo, por sua vez, respondeu de forma imediata, com Léo Moura chutando em cima de Fernando Prass, após belo passe de Ronaldinho. Alex Silva, aos 9 minutos, torceu o joelho esquerdo e foi substituído por Ronaldo Angelim. O time do técnico Ricardo Gomes, melhor na partida, obrigou Felipe a fazer duas boas defesas seguidas. A primeira, de Alecsandro após cruzamento de Fagner. Na cobrança do escanteio, Rômulo subiu demais e praticamente chutou com a cabeça, tamanha a força da cabeceada. O goleiro do Flamengo se esticou todo e evitou o gol vascaíno.

Mighty Timao has dropped two straight after starting out league play on a hot streak.

Corinthians stumbling in their last two matches has allowed my guys from Flamengo to creep within a point.

Timao has 28 points.

Mengao has 27 but lets remember Corinthians has a game in hand.

Sao Paulo started out the season on a hot streak também. Tricolor reeled off five straight wins before dropping three straight.

Sao Paulo is in third place with 25 points.

Rubro-Negro is the only undefeated club in the Seria A.

Yes, we have seven wins and six ties.

Flamengo is a plus 13.

Timao has a plus 13 também.

Mengao has a league high 26 goals.

Last year at this time Mengao was barely hanging on.

My guys from Flamengo battle second place Sao Paulo at our friendly confines in Estadio Olimpico in Rio de Janeiro.

This  is not our real house but it will do in pinch.

Deivid, Ronaldinho Gaucho, and Thiago Neves need to come up big against the Evil Empire.

Tricolor started out the season on tear winning their first five matches.

Then the wheels fell off the wagon for the Evil Empire.

Sao Paulo lost their last two in a row.

Tricolor was blown out by Timao 5-o and then Sao Paulo had their heads handed to them by Botafogo 2-0.

Mengao on the other hand is on a roll.

Flamengo is coming off a two straight wins.

Ronaldinho Gaucho has stepped up big time scoring three goals in our last two matches.

Deivid has scored twice for Mengao tamben.

We need to win this sucker.

A win over Sao Paulo will moves us further up the table.

Flamengo has a chance to move into the top five with a “W”.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw the score for the Corinthians Sao Paulo match on Sunday night.

Timao handed the evil empire their heads 5-0.

This was a total whitewash.

Tricolor was on a roll. 

Sao Paulo was five for five until the Paulistas had their butts handed to them.

Tricolor is in the pole position with 15 points.

Corinthians is in second place with 13 points.

Timao has a game in hand.

Third place belongs to Palmeiras with 11 points.

Botafogo has 11 points but Fogao is a plus three while Alviverde is a plus 5.

My Flamengo boys jumped three spots to seventh place.

Mengao has 10 points.

Rubro-Negro is the top scoring club in Serie A with 13 goals.

We have only given up six goals.

Only fours sides have given up less.

Three of those clubs are ahead of us in the table. Corinthians has given up three.

Botafogo and Palmeiras each has allowed five

Santos has given up only three but Peixe has only scored five times.

Peixe is in 16^th place with one point.

Santos has two games in hand.

Mengao has a huge return match with Atletico-MG on Wednesday June 29^th.

What a second half turn around by Mengao. We fell behind 1-0 early in the second half.

Then Ronaldinho Gaucho started the onslaught with a brilliant goal in the 65^th minute.

In rapid succession goals by Thiago Neves and two by Deivid sealed the deal for Rubro-Negro.

Corinthians destroyed Tricolor 5-0.

O Peixe ganhou essa folga por ter decidido a Libertadores na última quarta-feira.

Com o brilhante resultado diante do Tricolor Paulista, o Corinthians tem a companhia do Flamengo em termos de invencibilidade na competição. Outro fato relevante da rodada foi o excelente desempenho dos clubes carioca. O Flamengo bateu o Galo no sábado. No domingo, Botafogo, Fluminense e Vasco não deram chance para Grêmio, Avaí e Atlético-GO, respectivamente.

Mengao and Corinthians tied one all at Flamengo’s house. Willian dented the scoreboard first for Timao in the 19^th minute.

Willian slipped a one timer past the naked keeper.

This was set up by a dribble drive to the right goal line by Weldinho.

Rubro-Negro was forced to react thus leaving the keeper one on one with Willian.

Weldindo spotted Willian was free near the goalmouth so he slipped Willian the pass.

Bingo into the back of the net.

Rubro-Negro scored the equalizer in the 39^th minute.

Renato Abreu dialed up a long-range bomb of a free kick to level this sucker one all.

This was Mengao’s first real test of the season.

A tie isn’t fatal but this dropped us to mid table.

This is not good.

Mengao is in ninth place with five points.

Two points separate the top nine places in the table.

As we speak, Corinthians is top dog with seven points.

Sao Paulo and Atletico-MG have yet to play.

The pole sitter is Galo with a plus five.

Second place belongs to Gigante de Colina with a plus five.

Third place is Sao Paulo with a plus three.

Rubro-Negro has a tough battle against Corinthians.

I am not saying this is a must win situation but this test will see if Mengao is for real or just pretenders for the crown.

Ronaldinho Gaucho needs to be at the top of his game.

Wanderley, Leo Moura, and Renato must come up big.

The old guy Petkovic must play lights out também.
