My guys from Arsenal picked up a huge 1-0 win over Stoke City on Wednesday.
The Gunners win cuts Man U’s lead to a point.
The Red Devils have a game in hand.
Sebastian Squillaci nailed the match winner in the 8th minute.
The bad news is this- Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott were injured.
This will hurt us in the stretch run of the EPL, Champions League, and the Carling Cup finals to played on Sunday.
Arsene Wenger had this to say about the injuries to Fabregas and Walcott- It is of course a concern that he is injured but it can happen unfortunately. He was very upset, I am as well, but it is not his fault and it is not my fault, it is part of sport. It’s strange that it happened early in the game but we have to face it. Theo is disappointed of course.
Wenger added- We did the job in a very professional way. We faced a Stoke team that defended very well, very compact, but we were intelligent, calm, patient and overall I believe that we were resilient as well when Stoke had their strong moments because we didn’t give in when they did what they do very well.
Wenger said this about the guys not playing at their nest yet still were able to come away with the win- Tonight was a night when nobody else played [well] and if you can take three points and glide closer to the top, that means that your team is really hungry for success. The number of games we play, not to make a mistake at any stage… we were less sharp creatively but you could feel the team did not want to make a mistake and that’s a very positive sign.
What about the pressure on Sir Alex and his guys- Well we all have pressure now because that’s the period where it starts, in March, everyone is under pressure. Chelsea will be, Man United will be, everybody is, but that’s part of being in the position we are in. Three months ago when we lost here against Newcastle, who would have given us the chance of even being in the top four. We have come back in a strong position and I will not complain, I am very happy that we have a chance to be in there.
At the Copa Libertadores Internacional picked a huge 4-0 win over Chiapas in Group Six play.
Mario Ariel Bolatti hit the daily double for Colorado in the “W”.
The other Brasileiro side Fluminense and Nacional tied at nil-nil.
Internacional is top dog in Group Six with four points.
Flu is in second place in Group Three with two points.
Gunner for life.

Flamenguista for life também.

Toons hung in there until my guys from Arsenal put a ton of pressure on Newcastle’s “D”. This resulted in an own goal by Toons keeper Tim Krul in the 45th minute.
The Gunners Craig Eastman fired a great shot on goal. Newcastle defender Ryan Taylor’s header was sent in the wrong direction. Krul never had a chance.
1-0 for us.
I love it.
Theo Walcott started off the second half with a bang. Mate Djourou fired a great header ball into the goal area. Walcott beat the trap and nailed the winner in the 52nd.
Nicklas Bendtner fired a close range missile in the 83rd to give Arsenal a 2-nil lead.
The QB Cesc Fabregas set up this goal. Fabregas made the great ball reversal after an error by Toons Guthrie.
Theo Walcott’s second goal in the 88th minute made 4-0 for the Gunners.
Fabregas and Walcott made a wonderful give and go that rendered Newcastle’s “D” helpless.
This was a huge win for Gunner nation.
Theo Walcott had a huge presence in this match.
Arsene Wenger had this to say about Walcott’s daily double- www.arsenal.com
He was sharp. He was very sharp at the start of the season but then he got injured with England against Switzerland and it was his first game back today. You see that he has improved his composure in front of goal, he has tremendous pace and his first touch is much better. The timing of his runs have always been good but his first touch when running at full pace is better. That makes a big difference.
Wenger heaped more praise on Theo Walcott.
I think Theo Walcott is 21-years-old. That’s the age when other players start to play. He is a very young boy and he is a very intelligent player and that’s why I believe he will continue to develop. He has tremendous pace and power and in front of goal he is very good. The timing of his runs are good and for a striker that is the most important thing.
Wenger on the guy’s performance- I am pleased with the performance. Saying that, the first goal was certainly the turning point in the game because we had a lot of domination but didn’t take our chances early on in the game. Then Newcastle defended with numbers behind the ball and it became difficult to score. We were lucky with the first goal just before half time – that was certainly a blow for Newcastle. It put us in a position where we could break much more because Newcastle had to come out and that’s basically what happened in the second half.
It is on to the next round of the Carling Cup for Arsenal.
Aston Villa needed extra time to beat recently send down Burnley 2-1.
West Ham beat Stoke City 3-1.

We’re back at it on Saturday and Sunday. Oh what a great Saturday to see EPL. I love it.
My guys have from Arsenal have a huge battle with Bolton at our house Emirates.
The Wanderers are currently in fifth place.
This is a huge match.
Bolton can give us heap big trouble.
Theo Walcott needs to play lights out and score a ton.
Chelsea will have a breeze against lowly West Brom.
This baby is on the road but the Blues should win hands down.
Man U battles bottom feeder Everton.
Man U has had struggles on the road but the Toffees have been playing like crap as of late.
Tim Howard is Everton’s only saving grace.
The team that is in the shits is Tottenham.
Spurs had a great season last year now Tottenham is finding what it is like at the top of the heap.
Spurs are in 11th place.
They have been not playing well.
Last time out Tottenham lost to lowly Wigan 1-0.
Now Spurs will have to play both EPL and Champions League at the same time.
Welcome to the world of Wenger and Sir Alex.
Get this Jermain Defoe was injured in a stupid match with Switzerland.
Reports have it that Defoe will be lost for six weeks.
Yo, futebol players it is time to revolt and form a players union to stop this insanity.
The players need to revolt against the EPL, Spanish leagues, Italian, French, and German leagues.
Strike and stand up for your rights.
Enough said on that.

There is good news and bad news on the Arsenal front.
The bad first Robin Van Persie will out until at least mid October.
What did I tell ya?
These clowns at FIFA need to have their heads examined.
Enough of this Bullshit already will ya.
No wonder players are breaking down.
RVP is the latest.
Robin Van Persie is just coming off a long extended injury.
Players need rest.
RVP and the top players are playing in league play, Champions League, International friendlys, and World Cup.
Folks, we need to have a players Union to stop this insanity.
Samir Nasri is coming along well after knee surgery.
Nasri should return to action in the next couple of weeks.
The Gunners subs pulled a thrilling come from behind 4-3 win over the Blackburn subs.
Arsenal reserves have two wins.
The Gunners have scored nine goals in the two wins.
Jay Emmanuel Thomas nailed the match winner for the Gunner subs.
Way to go garoto.
My guys from Arsenal are in second place with seven points.
We have a huge match at home against Bolton on Saturday.
The Wanderers are a dangerous side.
Bolton sits in fifth place with five points.
This is key match for the Gunner nation.
Theo Walcott and the guys need to keep ramming the twines.
Home wins are a must.
My other guys Mengao are in the deep shits.
We can’t find the net.
Flamengo can’t win.
Rubro-Negro hasn’t won in five matches.
Two goals in our last five matches suck big time.
Flamengo has 22 points.
We are sitting in 14th place.
Gremio-Barueri has 19 points and sits in 17th place.
Mengao is two steps away from the heave-hoe zone.
Nut cutting time is on Wednesday against Sao Paulo at Tricolor’s house Mouribi.
Sao Paulo is in tenth place with 25 points.

A few quick observations about the EPL as we head into a two week break.
Chelsea has not given up a goal in three matches.
The Blues are top dogs but they haven’t played anyone yet.
Chelsea has beaten up on the weak sisters of the EPL Wigan, Stoke City, and West Brom.
Two out of three sides are one step above stink.
Stoke City stinks down right bad.
My guys from Arsenal should have lost to Liverpool the opening weekend but we pulled out a great tie.
We picked up an all-important road win.
The big surprise is the way Theo Walcott is ripping the twines.
Walcott has scored big time (four goals) in three matches.
This is huge for the Gunner nation.
Andrei Arshavin has scored twice.
With RVP hurt, this means the young cats are stepping up to the plate big time.
Lets see how this plays out through the rest of the season.
Manchester United is loaded with talent and team speed.
The Red Devils are greased lightening.
The only stumble so far is a tie against Fulham.
The Cottagers have a habit of driving Sir Alex and the boy’s nuts.
The second week draw proves my point.
Fulham came back twice to tie this sucker up.
The big surprise is Dimitar Berbatov has two goals.
If he can continue to score, Man U will be unreal.
Tottenham losing to lowly Wigan was a shocker.
Spurs are in above their heads.
Tottenham will finish mid table.
Man City is team full of head cases.
City has great talent but ten-cent brains.
Mancini will struggle to find continuity with Man City.
City will finish just outside the money.
Villa looks strong.
Aston Villa will finish in the top six.
Liverpool is on the downhill slide.
The Reds will in the lower half of the table.
Newcastle will stay up n the EPL.
The Magpies have a chip on their shoulders.
Toons have a point to prove.
Newcastle might challenge for a Europa spot.
We’ll talk more about EPL later.
These are off the cuff remarks.
De Futebol
Manchester United invited lowly West Ham to Old Trafford.
The host’s treated the Hammers to a shooting gallery.
Yes, my friend, the mighty boys from Old Trafford fired shot after shot after shot at West Ham keeper Robert Green.
It took a while before the Red Devils found the back of the net.
Ryan Giggs took it to the rack. Hammers defender Jonathan Spector was forced to tackle Giggs in the box. Whamo, bamo, It’s PK time. Rooney breaks his scoring drought in the 33rd minute,
This is the Wayne man’s first goal in five months.
The Hammers hung in there.
I mean, man it was rough out there for the Hammers.
This match was hard to watch.
The feeding frenzy was on.
Nani beat almost entire West Ham team in the 50th minute to make 2-nil Man U.
Juke right. Side step left. Step side right. Pause. Shift the ball to left. Fire. Bingo. Back of the net.
Nani made the entire Hammers side look ridiculous.
Berbatov added a great flying side ways bicycle kick into the back of the net in the 69th minute.
The deal was already sealed after the first goal.
The mighty boys from Old Trafford should have had a ton more goals but Hammers keeper Robert Green kept it a respectable massacre.
Man U is for real.
Chelsea and the rest better watch out.
The Red Devils have real team speed.
They can score.
The only problem is that super defender Rio Ferdinand is out.
Once he comes back watch out baby.
The other team to watch out for is my guys from Arsenal.
The young Gunners such as Theo Walcott are finding their stride.
With Walcott ripping the twines, watch out EPL.
The only bad news in Gunner land is that RVP is hurt.
Chelsea is beating up on the little old lady’s and the little sisters of the poor but let’s see what happens when the Blues get into the meat of their schedule.
Remember this Man U burned em in the Community Shield.
Last year Chelsea took it to the Red Devils.
This is a good indicator of what might be in store.
De Futebol
My guys from Arsenal won on the road.
This was a huge 2-1 win over the pesky Blackburn Rovers.
We did good but there were several mix-ups and sloppy “D” that could have cost us the big “W”.
Theo Walcott ripped the twines in the 20th minute to give us Gunners a 1-0 lead.
This baby was the direct result of a great counter attack.
Robin Van Persie took the ball and drove the left sideline.
Persie set up mate Walcott with a beautiful pass. All Theo Walcott had to do was deposit the ball into the back of the net.
Walcott’s rocket literally ripped the twines off the left side of net near the left post.
This was truly a rocket.
Blackburn nailed the equalizer in the 27th minute.
Rovers Hadji Diouf made the Gunners defender Laurent Koscielny look like a schoolgirl.
Wham. Bam. Diouf hands Koscielny his jock.
Hadji hits mate Mame Diouf who jams the ball into the back of the net.
I thought here we go again.
Get a crap tie on the road.
But no! My Gunners picked themselves up by the bootstraps and scored the winner in the 51st minute.
Andrei Arshavin nailed the rebound off a miss by mate Cesc Fabregas to give us the all-important road win.
The bad news is this.
Our top player Robin Van Persie left the match in the 35th minute with an ankle injury.
Headman Arsene Wenger thinks RVP will miss about ten days.
This was a huge road win for the Gunner Nation.
The biggest surprise of the day was when lowly Wigan pulled the upset city match of the day by beating Tottenham 1-0 at Spurs house-White Hart Lane.
What did I tell ya!
Spurs are in above their heads.
Tottenham didn’t play worth a crap.
Spurs key scorer Jermain Defoe is playing with an injured groin.
Peter Crouch isn’t worth a damn.
Sure, Tottenham had most of the possession but the name of the game is to put the ball into the back of the net.
Maybe Spurs should take lessons from my guys in Brasil Flamengo who couldn’t find an acorn with a GPS system.
Welcome to the real big leagues Tottenham.
This is a different animal.
Other than that business as usual in the EPL, Chelsea beat up little sisters of the poor Stoke City 2-0.
Blackpool and Fulham tied two all.
Newcastle and Wolves kissed their sister one all.
Manchester United blasted West Ham 3-0 on Saturday. We’ll talk about that more on Monday.
De Futebol
We’re two weeks into the season. There are a few surprises but other than that nothing much.
Chelsea has kicked ass. The Blues destroyed two really inferior sides Wigan and West Brom.
Manchester United took it Newcastle but stumbled against Fulham.
The Cottagers have a history of driving Sir Alex nuts.
Arsenal played great at home and pulled a rabbit of the Gunners hat in a miracle one all tie with Liverpool at Anfield.
My Gunners have played well so far.
Both Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas are nursing injures.
Theo Walcott has stepped up big time.
Capello decided to kick Walcott off the national team.
This was a huge mistake.
Capello needs to go.
Liverpool eked a tie against my Gunners but stunk the joint out against Man City.
Liverpool is on the way down.
Sure, the Reds are missing Fernando Torres but Liverpool has plenty of other good players such as Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog, and Joe Cole.
Liverpool is near the butt end of the table.
The Reds are in 17th place with one point.
Man U killed the Magpies but Newcastle turned the tables on Aston Villa. Newcastle destroyed Villa 3-0.
Blackpool picked up their first win in the EPL in 39 years but came crashing down to earth when my guys from Arsenal rang up six goals.
Wigan is headed down.
Blackpool will probably go too.
Don’t be surprised if Liverpool hovers in the bottom half of the table.
These are my thoughts after two matches but remember this can change in an instant.
De Futebol
This was one of those classic blowouts. Arsenal flat out took it to Blackpool 6-0. Theo Walcott pulled a hat trick out of his hat.
Finally, Walcott lights up the twines.
Diaby, Arshavin, Marouane Chamakh each added their names to the score sheet.
About time guys.
Emirates is very good to us Gunners.
This was a kick ass win.
You gotta love it.
I sure do.
Blackpool came crashing down to earth after the Seasiders huge win over Wigan last Saturday.
Blackpool will probably get sent packing at the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger decided to rest super stars Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie.
Smart move on Wenger’s part.
The young guns are coming along quite nicely thank you.
Spurs are finding life hard at the top of the table.
Tottenham pulled out a 2-1 win over Stoke City.
Gareth Bale hit for the daily double.
Bolton chewed up West Ham 3-1.
West Brom stopped Sunderland 1-0.
Everton and Wolverhampton tied one all.
The Toffees are stumbling out of the gate.
Everton has one draw and one loss.
This is not good.
Chelsea kicked some major butt in a blow city 6-0 shut out of win over helpless and hapless Wigan.
Nicholas Anelka and Salomon Kalou each hit for the daily double.
The Blues looked good in their first two matches against inferior sides. Lets see what happens when Chelsea gets into the meat of their schedule.
The Blues may win the whole enchilada this year but they are on the downhill side of forty.
De Futebol
The EPL is a little more than one week away.
I can’t wait.
Yes, we had the World Cup and my beloved Campeonato do Brasil but without the EPL on Saturday and Sunday, I am a lost puppy.
Are you ready for some Futebol?
Yes, I can’t wait.
Kickoff is set for August 14th.
There are some huge opening round matches.
My guys from Arsenal battle Liverpool at Anfield.
This is a huge opening bell tilt.
The Reds are coming off a disappointing 2009-2010 campaign.
In plain terms, Liverpool stunk.
They played like crap.
The Reds finished in seventh place.
The fat Spanish waiter is gone but I don’t know if this will help Liverpool.
Fernando Torres will probably miss the first half of the season.
Let’s see if Roy Hodgson can change the Reds fortunes.
The Gunners are itching to get back at it.
Arsenal has several young guns ready to prove themselves. Jack Wilshere, Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey, and Theo Walcott all have to finally live up to the high expectations placed on them by Wenger and us fans.
Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas should be raring to go after being injured for most of the 2009-2010 campaign.
The weak link in the scheme is the keeper.
I think both Almunia and Fabianski are both two clowns who should be shot at dusk for stupid goal tending.
These guys suck big time.
Let the games begin.
Speaking of games, Internacional and Sao Paulo play their second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinal in Sao Paulo at Mouribi.
Tricolor needs to win by at least one goal.
Colorado won the first round 1-0 in Porto Alegre.
Both of sides hate each other.
This should be a wild one.
