It is a glorious two weeks until the EPL season begins. I can’t wait. Now my Saturday’s will be full of futebol.

Where we live in the middle of bum fuck Egypt the cable system and Internet suck big time.

No Globo TV.

The guys are putting the finishing touches on the pre season to get ready for the real deal.

Manchester United marched through the MLS like Sherman marched through Georgia.

None of the matches were close.

Man U destroyed the MLS All Stars 4-0.

This sucker was a total whitewash.

On Saturday night Man U and Barcelona have a rematch of the Champions League finals.

This puppy will be played in Landover, Maryland.

I wouldn’t expect to see the top guys like Messi, Rooney and the rest playing that much if at all.

My guys from Arsenal tied the Argentina club Boca Juniors.

The Gunners led 2-0 and low and behold Arsenal let Los Xeneizes score two goals in four minutes to escape with the tie.

Is this Déjà vu all over again?

Let’s hope not.

I don’t know if I can take another season like 2010-11.

Cesc Fabregas sat this baby out.

Wenger had this to say about the match- all quotes are taken from www.arsenal.com

The second half let down-
You never want to concede goals, but overall I do not give too much importance to that. What is important for us it to find a collective rhythm. When we could we managed to play at a good pace for 60 minutes, after it was much more difficult. It was expected, we came back from a training camp in Germany with heavy work and I knew that the second half would be much more difficult.

Boca Juniors are a good team and we got caught counter-attacking when were 2-0 up and we tried to build up the game, but when you are tired you miss some passes and were a bit more under threat.

What lessons did the guys learn- That we can score goals and Gervinho is a good addition to our squad. He is very interesting because he gives us options on both sides and through the middle. He can integrate well with our team. Also we have some improvements to make in some areas, especially the way we win the ball back. On set pieces we were not convincing today, but overall it was quite positive.

On Gervinho-

We can be extremely dangerous on the counter-attack with the players we have, we have Walcott who was not involved today, we have Gervinho and with the midfield we have I believe we can be very quick in the transition to go forwards, so that is always something very interesting. He can add that.

What about the future of Nasri and Fabregas-

don’t know. I play the players who are available and Nasri is available so I play him. Yesterday, I made a check up of all our situations and, I must tell you, nothing has moved since yesterday. Not one way, nor another way.

If Fabregas is committed to this Club and wants to stay, no money will get him out of here. We are not in a position where we need to sell our players. We want to keep our players. We are not looking after money. We want the players to stay here, from our side that is clear.

What about Nickolas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue- They are both on the verge of a move but nothing has been concluded with anybody. I don’t have any club in mind for Nicklas Bendtner because we are far from having done anything with anybody. I cannot give you any club because we have given him the permission to move.

Wenger added this getting nothing for Nasri and him staying- It’s not ideal for us on the financial side but, on the sporting side, he is an important player. We have to deal with the situation one way or another. In the next ten days we have to be clear on that front.

If you ask me if I want to keep him, I say yes. But he needs to be committed to that as well. I don’t give them ten days, the transfer period is until August 31. Ideally, we go into big games in two weeks, in the next two weeks we have to sort out problems out. There is no specific deadline of one day or 24 hours. It’s not like you shoot a shuttle into space. Sometimes it’s very quick on that front and sometimes it’s very slow.

Lots of question to still be answered by my Gunners. So we will see how this sucker plays out.

I don’t want another heart break season but this what one expects when you are a Gunner for life.

Just like my Philadelphia Stinko Eagles.

Gunners and Eagles find a way to screw up a wet dream.

Flamenguistaand Gunner for life.

Finally, the real Arsenal showed up. Arsenal destroyed lower side Leyton Orient 5-0.

Nicholas Bendtner led the way with a hat trick.

Up next for my Gunner guys are Sir Alex and the boys in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.

Arsene Wenger’s guys jumped all over The O’s early.

This sucker was over before it started.

Marouane Chamakh led this baby off with a deadly point blank strike in the 7th minute.

Then Bendtner hit the next three goals for my Gunners.

Nicholas my main man almost a had a natural hit trick, a hockey lingo, but he couldn’t quite pull it off.

A natural hat trick means all three goals in one period or in futebol circles in either the first or second half.

Gael Clichy added the back breaker in the 75th minute.

All in all this was a good performance by my Gunners.

Man City moved on to the quarters with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Up next for City is Reading. I wonder if the choo-choo guys will put up a good fight.

Actually their nickname is the Royals.

I like the choo-choo guys better.

But hey what do I know.

In my mind, I see the Reading Railroad but what can on expect from a Yank.

Man U and Arsenal is set for March 12th.

This is it from The De Futebol Zone.

Headman Arsene Wenger issued the warning. Be careful guys, Shakhtar hasn’t lost in many a moon at their house.

Shakhtar has only lost two matches in their last thirty games in all competition.

The Gunners jumped out to an early 1-0 lead before Shakhtar Donetsk scored two goals to win 2-1.

Former Gunner Eduardo scored the match winner in the 45th minute to seal the deal for the Ukrainian side.

We have to put the Champaign bottles on hold until next week before we can uncork when we advance to the next round.

Arsenal didn’t start their top side however Jack Wilshere, Nicholas Bendtner, Samir Nasri, and the rest are a formidable squad.

These types of matches are good for they will serve as good teaching lessons. You can’t assume just because you kill a side one time doesn’t mean they will roll over and play dead the next time.

All one has to do is look at the best of seven series in Baseball, Pro hoops, and Hockey.

Different night many times a different result but here is the real kicker the best team will always prevail in a best of seven series 80% of the time.

This was a good lesson for the Gunners.

Wenger had this to say about our first loss in the Champions League play- www.arsenal.com ”Congratulations to Donetsk, they played well and won the game. We had a good start but after we lost our urgency and let Donetsk come into the game too much. We lost concentration in the duels and you could see what was coming towards half time.”

He added this on what happened- I felt we moved out of the game altogether and moved into the game altogether so it was more of a team problem, a kind of complacency problem more than an individual problem. In the second half we came back into the game and gave a lot so you can’t fault the team. We were a bit unlucky. We have learnt the lesson that at this level you can’t lose focus at any moment and that is why we were punished.”

Arsene Wenger on Edurado’s match winning goal- I don’t take much pleasure form seeing him score in this particular game but it’s good to see him playing at that level and overall he had a very good game.”

Chelsea defeated Spartak Moscow 4-1.

The Blues pretty started their first team.

Chelsea advances to the next round.

We have a huge match against Newcastle on Sunday.

www.palau.org

A funny thing happened on the way to Barcelona. Our guys from Arsenal were missing their key players. It was a slaughter. Barca handed us our lunch 4-1.

What did you expect miracles.

The Gunners were without Fabregas, Alex Song, and Andrea Arshavin.

Jeez, this is like sending the lamb out to fight the wolves armed with a butter knife.

We never had a chance.

This is similar to a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Lionel Messi hit for the quadruple.

My grandmother could have done that against an injury depleted squad.

She’s been dead since 1976.

Messi is good but lets see how he would have done against our best.

Nicholas Bendtner scored Arsenal’s lone tally in the 18th minute.

This was good but it went downhill from there.

Injuries are killing us.

Enough said on this subject.

In the Clausura Boca Juniors is a race to see how fast they can stink the joint out. Boca gave up a late goal to Rosario Central and wound up losing 2-1.

River Plate lost to Lanus 1-0.

Both River and Boca stink to high heaven.

Godoy Cruz shut out Velez Sarsfield 2-0.

Boca is hovering near the bottom of the table.

Boca is in 18th place with 11 points.

Rosario Central is in 19th with 11 points as well however; Boca is a minus six while Rosario Central is a minus seven.

River Plate is in 16th place with 12 points.

Independiente sits atop the table with 27 points. Godoy Cruz is in second place with 24 points. Argentinos Juniors is third with 22 points.

Now the teams that have stunk the joint like Argentinos Juniors and Godoy are flying high while top clubs Boca and River are bottom feeders.

You gotta love it.

Old Trafford is the site for the clash of the Titans. Man U and Chelsea do battle on this fine Saturday.

Joe Cole nailed the winner in 20th minute to give the Blues the early 1-0 lead.

Man U came out smoking in the second half but the Red Devils could not find the back of the net.

Didier Drogba nailed the match winner in the 79th minute.

Yes Drogba was clearly off sides but the ref said no way baby.

The goal stands.

There was no quit in the Man U dog.

Federico Macheda nailed a great shot in the 81st minute to make this sucker close at 2-1.

Two-second half goals and two huge question marks. One was clearly off sides and the other a possible handball.

Chelsea has hung on to beat Man U 2-1.

Chelsea has swept the Red Devils this year.

Chelsea is now in sole possession of first place in the EPL.

Chelsea has 74 points.

Man U has 72.

The Red Devils clearly were not at full strength.

The Wayne Man was out. Without Rooney Man U stinks.

This harsh but it is the truth.

Chelsea dominated in the first half.

The Red Devils applied the pressure in the second half but they couldn’t crack the code.

Rooney was the missing link.

Dimitar Berbatov had four great scoring chances. He blew them big time.

Man U has now seven losses on the season. The mighty men of Old Trafford have two home losses.

Is this a dagger to the heart of Man U’s dreams of a four peat?

Time will tell.

There are five matches left.

Did the Champions League mid week tussle with Bayern Munich take the wind of the Red Devils sails?

Yes. Rooney went down

Ouch, that hurts.

My Gunners escaped by the hair of their chinny chin-chin when Nicholas Bendtner knocked home the winner in the dying moments (90th minute) of the match to lift Arsenal past a very scrappy Wolverhampton 1-0 at our house Emirates.

Bendtner’s goal saved our title chances.

If this baby ended in a tie, we could have kissed our title hopes bye-bye.

The shocker of the day was Sunderland taking it to Tottenham 3-1.

This was a classic ass kicking.

Before the Spurs could catch their breath, the Black Cats were up 2-nil.

Sunderland missed two gimmie PK’s by Darren Bent in the 41st and 62nd minutes.

It should have been 5-1.

But hey, this will do in a pinch for the Black Cats are hovering right around mid table.

This loss snapped Spurs five match winning streak.

Manchester City picked up a huge 6-1 win over Burnley.

Emmanuel Adebayor hit for the daily double.

My main man Carlos Tevez hit for pay dirt in the 7th minute.

Chelsea is top dog with 74 big ones.

Man U is in second place with 72 points.

Arsenal is third with 71 points.

Three points separate the top three guys with five matches to play.

The race for the final Champions League spot looks like this.

City is in fourth place with 59 points. Spurs are in fifth place with 58 points.

Both Spurs and City have played 32 games.

Liverpool is in sixth place with 54 points.

The Reds play on Sunday against Birmingham.

At the end of the day on Sunday, both City and Spurs have a game in hand.
