The big boys all won on this very cold day in the states. Some places are as hot as minus one. That’s a heat wave folks. You gotta love it. Not!

My guys from Arsenal fell behind 1-0 on a clearly offside goal by Louis Saha in the 24th minute.

There was no quit in this dog as my Gunners scored the next two goals to win this sucker 2-1 at our house Emirates.

Andrei Arshavin point blank shot dead center of the box in the 70th tied this puppy up at one all.

The match winner came in the 77th minute. Robin Van Persie fired a great skip pass through the goal crease to Laurent Koscielny. Koscielny nailed a tight range header between the keeper Tim Howard and the left post.

Game, set, and match to Arsenal.

This “W” was huge for Gunner nation.

Man U blasted Aston Villa 3-1.

The Wayne man hit the daily double for Sir Alex and the guys.

Rooney’s first of the season.

Nemanja Vidic scored too.

This win kept the Red Devils a top the leader board with 54 points.

My Gunners are in the two spot with 49 points.

Chelsea destroyed Sunderland 4-2.

John Terry, Frank Lampard, Salomon Kalou, and Nicolas Anelka ripped the twines for the Blues guys.

Chelsea stays in touch with the leader board in third place with 44 points.

This is it from The De Futebol Zone.

Gunner for life.

Man U scored in the final moments of injury time to stick a fork in City’s chances of winning a berth in the Champions League.

Scholes header off a great pass from mate Evra was squeezed between the keeper Shay Given and the right post.

Patrice Evra’s assist may have lifted the boys from Old Trafford to a historic four peat.

Man U rose from the dead to beat man City 1-0.

Paul Scholes was the hero but Patrice Evra’s dramatic run up the left side of the pitch coupled with his perfectly placed ball deep into the teeth of the City box gave Man U new life in the EPL title race.

You gotta live it baby.

Scholes is a PT player. This means he is a prime time player baby.

It sure looked like City and the mighty boys from Old Trafford would end up in a nil-nil tie.

Then midnight struck Cinderella was reduced to a fiery rubble.

Tottenham pulled off the daily double.

Spurs flat out took it to Chelsea.

Tottenham beat the Blues 2-1.

The Spurs beat my guys Arsenal last Sunday and then did an encore by possibly killing Chelsea’s title dreams on Saturday.

We will see.

Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale hit for pay dirt to stake the Spurs to a 2-nil lead before John Terry added a cosmetic goal in the 90th minute.

Both Spurs and Man U fans are happy as sin.

Now lets hope my guys will beat up on Wigan later today.

Oh yes baby the race is on.

Chelsea is the top dog with 77 points. Man U is second with 76. Arsenal is third with 71. We have a game in hand. Tottenham is fourth with 64 and Man City is fifth with 62.

You can cut this seventy-five ways to Sunday the USA is king of hill in North America but when it comes to the rest of the world, we are a day late and a dollar short.

The final score will indicate a closer match than what it was. Netherlands defeated the United States 2-1.

Netherlands was in total control from the outset.

The saving grace for the USA in this match was Tim Howard. He gave up two goals. The first was a PK.

The second was a solid deflection off the USA defender Jonathan Bornstein from a shot by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Howard was hung out to dry.

This was not Howard’s fault.

Tim Howard single handily kept the USA in the match. He prevented at least three shots from finding the back of the net.

The USA is a just a step slower than the fourth ranked team in the world the Netherlands.

Tim Howard is the only world-class player on the USA roster.

Argentina got by Germany 1-0. Gonzalo Higuan scored the only goal of the match in the 45th minute. Gonzalo Higuan scored an easy gimmie goal when the German keeper wandered 45 yards out of goal to stop Higuan. Zippo Higuan does a dipsy do past him and this was all she wrote.

England fell behind early to Egypt 1-0. The English stepped up the pressure to cruise to a 3-1 win.

Peter Crouch hit the daily double. Crouch tickled the twines in the 56th and 80th minute.

Before Crouch’s score, in the 56th minute, the English side was playing like crap. They were stinking the joint out.

Crouch’s first goal was the match changer.

Shawn Wright Phillips punted the ball towards the goal. The keeper Essam Hadari totally goofed up the play. The ball does a holy roller into the back of the net.

So what have we learned from these final tune-ups.

Nothing much. Brasil will still be the favorite entering into 2010 World Cup competition. Spain and the Netherlands will have very strong teams. Either of these two teams can win it all.

German will be a long shot.

England has chance but they need to put the John Terry incident behind them.

Argentina has a very strong team. Messi and Tevez will pose a double threat. But it all comes down to the idiot Argentinos have as a head coach Maradona.

Maradona is the wild card. Will he have a wild hair up his butt when the final squad is picked?

I sure hope Maradona puts Messi and Tevez on the pitch together.

These are big ifs.

I still think that Argentina needs to fire Maradona and bring in a real coach.

Argentinos have the players to win it all.

The USA is still an also ran. The USA can make it out of the group stage but that is about it.

Not until United States has their best athletes play futebol, the USA will always be a second-class citizen in futebol.

The best athletes in the USA play football and basketball.

We got the result we needed. All we have to do is beat Stoke City at Britannia later today and we are in like Flynn.

Us Arsenal fans know we can always blow it but I sure hope not.

Three points will give the Gunners 58 points. We will be three points behind Chelsea.

Chelsea had their lunch handed to them by Man City 4-2.

Three players hit the daily double City’s Bellamy, Tevez, and Chelsea’s Lampard.

Chelsea started out strong.

The Blues took the early lead on a powerful strike by Frank Lampard in the 42nd minute.

The match changer happened right at the end of the first half.

A great block by City’s Wayne Bridge and whamo we are off to the races. Tevez breaks free and beats two Blues defenders.

The Carlos man hits a weak shot that rolls past the keepers Henrique Hilario’s outstretched paw. The ball does a slow roll into the back of net to level this sucker up at one all at break.

City was in charge after that.

Bellamy’s goal in the 51st minute made it 2-1.

Bellamy’s goal was the classic counter attack futebol. In a flash City was off to the races into the Blues end of the pitch.

This was Katie bar the door.

The Blues were hung out to dry when they pushed everyone into the offensive end of the pitch.

Tevez made it 3-1 after he nailed the PK in the 76th minute.

Bellamy hit for the daily double in the 87th minute.

Lampard added a cosmetic PK in the 90th minute.

You gotta love this.

Chelsea blows apart at home.

The race is on.

All we have to do is win baby.

This is not the start I was looking for. Arsenal gave up an easy goal off a great throw in by Stoke City’s Rory Delap in the 8th minute. Shawcross headed the ball to Danny Pugh. Pugh nailed the bounce close range header into the open net. Pugh was camped near the far left post.

We are down 1-0.

This stinks big time.

We need to regroup. We need to attack and score.

Finally, Arsenal gets the equalizer from Nicklas Bendtner in the 32nd minute off a great pass from mate Cesc Fabregas.

Bendtner showed some serious hops when out leaped a couple of Stoke City defenders to ram home the header.

So, whatever we do lets not have a repeat performance of what happened here at Britannia in the fourth round of the FA Cup. We tied it up and gave up three-second half goals.

We are at the break. Arsenal and Stoke City are knotted up at one all.

We need to come out in the second half and smoke em badly.

This is totally insane. Stoke City’s Shawcross made a stupid challenge on Arsenal forward Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey is leveled. Shawcross is given the heave-hoe in the 66th minute.

Ramsey is carted off and sent to hospital. Ramsey’s leg is broke.

This is a killer.

The good news it is still one all.

We have the man advantage.

We finally got the break we needed. The guys applied a ton of pressure on Stoke City’s “D”. It paid off when Bendtner fired a shot into the box. Whamo, bamo, a handball by Pugh. A PK is given. Fabregas nailed the gimmie in the 90th minute to give us the 2-1 lead.

Seven minutes of added time are to be played.

We tickled the twines in the 94th minute to make 3-1.

Fabregas fired a great ball to Thomas Vermaelen. Vermaelen knocks home the walk in goal to salt this baby away.

Instead of going for the whole enchilada, Fabregas saw his mate was in a better position to score.

Yep, guys it’s in the books.

Three points for us.

This is a huge road win for the Gunners.

It is 3-1 for Arsenal.

Paybacks are a bitch aren’t they.

The race for the title is on baby.

It will be a full sprint to the finish between the Blues, Man U, and the Gunners.

Chelsea has 61 points. Man U has 60 and Arsenal has 58.

Rogerio Ceni recorded first blood for Sao Paulo. He nailed a screamer into the wall. Bing bam boom the shot comes flying off the wall into the back of the net. Once Caldas keeper Luis Martinez never had a chance to stop this sucker.

This made it 1-0 for Sao Paulo in the 33rd minute.

With this goal, Ceni becomes Sao Paulo’s all time leading scorer with eleven goals in the Copa Libertadores.

Then the wheels fell off the wagon for Sao Paulo.

Once Caldas ratcheted up the pressure.

Once Caldas tied this baby up in the 49th minute. Uribe flat out beat Tricolor defender Xandao. Wham bam boom, back of the net for Uribe and we are even at one all.

Once Caldas took the lead when Moreno ran rings around the Sao Paulo “D”. He ripped the twines in the 71st minute to give Once Caldas a 2-1 lead.

This was all she wrote.

Stick a fork in Sao Paulo for they are surely done.

Once Caldas has six points after two matches. Sao Paulo has three points.

For the past few weeks, Sao Paulo has been playing horrible futebol. Sure, Tricolor is in second placed in Group Two but Sao Paulo has dropped two straight matches.

Sao Paulo has lost to Portuguesa, Palmeiras, and Santos in the Campeonato Paulista.

Tricolor is currently in sixth place with 17 points. Tricolor trails Torneo Paulista leader Santos by eight points.

Lets shift gears for a moment. We have two huge matches on Saturday in the EPL.

The biggie is Chelsea and Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. City is coming off a hard loss to Stoke City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Blues lost to Inter 2-1. This was a hard fought tangle between the Blues and Inter in the first stage of the Champions League knockout round.

Both goals given up by Chelsea were bitter pills to swallow for the Blues. Jose Mourinho Inter’s headman is the former Blues boss who took them to EPL glory.

Will this disappointment bite Chelsea in the butt?

We will find out.

The Blues are unbeaten at home and have only been scored on eight times by the opposition at Stamford Bridge.

Goals will hard to come by for City.

Manchester City will have Carlos Tevez. This should provide an offensive spark for City.

The Blues will be without Petr Cech, torn calf muscle, and Ashley Cole, broken ankle.

I can’t wait to see who dictates the match.

Will it be Tevez or Drogba?

You can sure bet there will be a ton of fireworks on the pitch with these two very intense players battling it out.

We have a huge match with Stoke City at Britannia Stadium on Saturday. The Gunners will have the services of Eduardo available however; we will be without Gallas, Diaby, and Arshavin. This could hurt us deeply if we are not careful.

Fabregas and the guys need to come through big time.

Road wins are a premium in the EPL.

We need to win this baby.

Three points are a must.

When the dust finally settles on Saturday we will have a clearer picture of how the race shaped up for the title run.

Man U has already won.

The pressure is squarely on Chelsea and Arsenal to keep up pace.

All we need is for Chelsea to have a brain fart and lose at home and we’re in like Flynn.

Chelsea and Inter battled it out in the first round of the knockout stage of the Champions League. Ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho is the Inter headman. Ex AC Milan headman Carlo Ancelotti is Chelsea’s main man.

Let’s talk about this barnburner of a match. Inter drew first blood in the 3rd minute. Alberto Diego Milito did a little side step action to the left. This slick move set up this strike that beat keeper Petr Cech to the short post left.

John Terry played horrible “D” on the play.

Chelsea discovered the answer in the 51st minute. Salomon Kalou was just outside the top of the box. He fired a weak shot that bounced past keepers Julio Cesar’s outstretched left paw. This should have been an easy stop. But no, Cesar flat out blew it.

The match is knotted at one all.

Inter began to apply the pressure on the Blues “D”.

Esteban Cambiasso fired a wicked shot but Didier Drogba blocked it. Rebound. Shot. Score Cambiasso in the 55th minute.

Inter is up 2-1.

Oh yes, we have a fight on our hands in Internazionale’s house.

Neither side is playing it safe. Chelsea and Inter are playing fast break, racehorse style futebol. I love it.

We have non-stop end-to-end action.

Both sides have had some great scoring opportunities but neither the Blues nor Inter have yet to pull the trigger.

It is all done. Inter defeated Chelsea 2-1.

The Blues picked up the all-important away goal.

Advantage Inter as we head back to Stamford Bridge for the second part of the story. The return match should be another nail bitter.

Lots of Copa Libertadores action on Wednesday.

Flamengo has a hot date with Universidad Catolica at Maracana. The Chilean side is currently in 11th place in the Chilean Apertura. Catolica has seven points. They are 2-1-3.

Mengao needs to flat out take it to Catolica.

Adriano and Love need to rip the twines.

Bruno will be out with a pulled adductor muscle in his right thigh. Youngster Marcelo Lomba will in goal. I sure hope this doesn’t kill us. This is the grand daddy of em all in South America-The Copa Libertadores.

Rubro-Negro opens the Copa at home then we are on the road for the next two matches.

Mengao travels to Chile to battle Universidad de Chile and Caracas, Venezuela.

Mengao has not tasted victory in first round play of Copa since 1984.

Flamengo needs to stop this schnid now.

Mengao has six draws and two losses in their previous eight Copa openers.

Not good garoto.

Flamenguistas needs a win.

In fifth round FA Cup replay action, Tottenham took it to Bolton 4-0. Super Russian Roman Pavlyuchenko hit for the daily double in the 23rd and 87th minute. The Wanderers hit the daily double own goal in the 35th and 47th minute.

Please say it ain’t so Joe.

It is.

Spurs are on to the next round of the FA cup.

Aston Villa beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.

Reading defeated West Brom 3-2.

Reading’s Brian Howard tied this baby up at two all in 90th minute to send this guy into thirty minutes of extra time.

Gylfi Sigurdsson hit the match winner in the 95th minute to send West Brom packing.

Stoke City needed the full 120 minutes to stifle City 3-1. This loss sure puts a damper Man City’s season.

Ryan Shawcross scored in the 95th minute.

Tuncay Sanli fired home the winner in the 99th minute to put this sucker out of reach.

City is sent packing as well.

Oh what a crazy day in the futebol world.

The EPL has a break in the in the action this weekend. The FA Cup will now take center stage on Saturday and Sunday. This is the oldest championship in the world. The FA Cup began play in 1871-72.

This break will give my team Arsenal time to heal some of the walking wounded before we get back into action next week. Man U will get a chance to heal some of their hurting guys as well too. Thank God for small favors.

The Gunners have two hot dates next week. The first is on Wednesday February 17th. We have a classic encounter with FC Porto in the knockout stage of the Champions League. The first leg will take place at Porto’s house in Estadio do Dragao.

Man U battles AC Milan in one of those titanic epic battles on Tuesday February 16th at Milan’s house in Giuseppe Meazza. You can bet both sides will throw the kitchen sink at each other.

In Brasil the semi finals of Carioca Guanabara takes on Saturday and Ash Wednesday. Saturday we find Fluminense batting Vasco. On Ash Wednesday, Flamengo has a hot date with Botafogo. This should be an all out war between Rubro-Negro and Botafogo. Us Flamenguistas will be in full throat.

Adriano and the guys need to step it up a notch and kick some major butt. We need to strike early and often. The Emperor, Vagner Love, and Petkovic need to rip the twines.

Chelsea has a hot fifth round date with Cardiff on Saturday. The Blues will be missing some key players. John Terry was given time off to try and fix his marriage. Good luck bucko after being caught with your drawers down with another woman. Play nice Bobby. I know but I can’t help myself. John Terry comes from the womanizer school of Tiger Woods, Joe Namath, John Kennedy, and Wilt Chamberlain. Compared to those guys John Terry is a piker. He needs more practice.

Ashley Cole will miss the Cardiff match due to the fractured ankle he sustained in the Everton match. Keeper Petre Cech and striker Nicolas Anelka will not make the trip either.

The Blues head man Carlo Ancelotti emphatically insists he is taking FA Cup seriously.

We will see.

Man City battles Stoke City, Southampton-Portsmouth, Reading- West Brom, and Derby-Birmingham are the other FA Cup match ups on Saturday.

On Sunday Tottenham-Bolton, Crystal Palace-Aston Villa, and Fulham-Notts County will duke it out.

Chelsea took care of the business at hand. Yes, the Blues escaped with 2-1 win over Burnley.

Thanks to my sponsors for supporting my blog. Please check them out and buy some great products. Sports Memorabilia, Luci Now Com-E cigarettes, and the Sports Authority-the nation’s preeminent full-line sporting goods chain. Shop online or in-store for your favorite brands – Nike, Under Armour, The North Face, Bowflex, Schwinn, Lifetime and more.

Once again, Chelsea gave an easy breakaway goal to the Clarets. The trumpets sounded the charge. John Terry to the rescue with a late goal in the 82nd minute to give Chelsea the needed three points.

The Blues were in control of the match from the outset.

Chelsea applied a ton of pressure throughout the entire match.

At one point in the second half, the pitch looked like it was tilted on 90-degree angle towards the Clarets end.

Anelka gave the Blues the early in the 27th minute.

Steven Fletcher nailed the equalizer in the 50th minute.

Mate Robbie Blake forced a TO in the Blues end. Alex lost the ball and thus gave Fletcher the easy goal.

Enter John Terry and his brilliant header goal to kill the Clarets dreams of salvaging a point.

Malouda set this baby up with a well-placed corner kick directly in front of the goalmouth.

Chelsea is atop the table with 54 points.

This solely places a ton of pressure on Arsenal and Man U to win on Sunday.

Neither side can afford a loss or a draw.

Both the Gunners and the Red Devils need to go balls to the wall and get the “W”.

Right now Man U has 50 points.

Arsenal has 49.

So once again, this epic battle between the Gunners and the Red Devils at Emirates will have a huge say on who will win the EPL this season.

Spurs were on the verge of a huge win over Birmingham but Liam Ridgewell scored the equalizer in the dying moments of injury to give Blues a heart thumping one all draw.

Jermain Defoe thought he scored the match winner in the 69th minute.

Bale’s centering pass was flicked on goal by Crouch. Block. Kick out. Goal.

Then the dagger to the heart in the 90th minute may have killed Tottenham’s chances of staying in touch with league leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool defeated Bolton 2-0.

Aston Villa creamed Fulham 2-0.

The race for the final Champions Leagues spot looks like this.

Spurs are in fourth place with 42 points.

Liverpool is in fifth place with 41 points.

Aston Villa is in sixth place 40 points and Man City is in the seventh place with 38 points. City has three games in hand.

Four points separate Spurs, Reds, Villa, and City for the final Champions League spot.

My final parting shot is this. The Gunners will win 3-1.

Fabregas and Ramsey will play lights out.

Rooney will be wrapped in a blanket all match. He won’t score.

Nasri will have a big game as well.

Sol Campbell’s “D’ will surprise the entire EPL.

Campbell has a point to prove.

www.palau.org

http://www2.hillsong.com/tv/home.asp
