De Futebol
Man City kicked ass and took some names in a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool.
City took care of business at their house.
Tevez hit the daily double.
The head case Tevez looks like he has buried the hatchet with City manager Roberto Mancini.
I mean Liverpool let victory slip out of their hands in their season opener at Anfield against my guys from Arsenal. However, this sucker wasn’t even close.
City was in control from the outset.
This 3-0 win was the largest win over the Reds since 1937.
James Milner was the key in the match.
He set up City’s first goal.
Milner feed Gareth Barry.
Barry ripped the twines in the 13th minute.
It all went downhill from there for Liverpool.
City looked like crap in their opener against Tottenham.
Now Man City looked like world-beaters.
Liverpool may struggle big time this year.
So far, a great start to the season.
I can’t wait to see how this season will shake down.
I still think Chelsea is on the downhill side of forty.
The Blues may win the title but this will be their last hurrah.

Boca Juniors reverted to their horrible ways. Los Xeneizes had their heads handed to them by Tigre 3-0.
Carlos Luna hit for the hat trick. He ripped the twines in the 10th, 43rd, and 77th minute.
Boca is really struggling in the Clausura.
With the loss, Los Xeneizes dropped to 17th place.
Boca has eight points in nine matches.
This stinks big time folks.
River Plate shut out Huracan 2-0.
Huracan’s Ezequiel Nicholas Filippetto made a dumb-dumb play. He fired the ball into his own net in the 2nd minute to give River Plate a 1-0 lead.
Gustavo Canales added the insurance goal in the 77th minute.
River Plate has thee wins, three draws, and three losses for 12 points.
Los Millonarios is now in 11th place.
Milton Caraglio scored the match winner in the 88th minute to lift Rosario past San Lorenzo 1-0.
Argentinos Juniors Nicolas Pavlovich was camped near the back post. He slipped the ball past the keeper in the 77th minute.
Racing’s Claudio Yacob missed a PK in the 86th minute.
Argentinos Juniors keeper Luis Ojeda stone cold stopped him.
This save sent Racing to a 1-0 defeat at the hands Argentinos Juniors.
Independiente defeated Chacarita 1-0. Godoy Cruz doubled up Atletico Tucuman 2-1.
The top of the Clausura looks like this.
Independiente is top dog with 20 points. Godoy is second with 18 points. Banfield and Velez Sarsfield are tied for third place with 15 points each.
Let’s turn our attention to the second leg of the Champions League first round knockout stage.
Internazionale Sameul Eto’o scored the match winner in the 77th minute to beat Chelsea 1-0.
Samuel Eto’o took it straight to the rack and beat the keeper Ross Turnbull. He beat Turnbull one on one.
A wicked pass set up this goal from Wesley Sneijder.
It is on to the next round for Jose Mourinho’s side.
When Jose Mourinho was the Blues manager, he never lost a home league game.
Revenge is sweet.
Inter is on to the next round while the Blues are outta here.
CSKA Moscow upset Sevilla 2-1.
CSKA is on to the next round as well.
Aston Villa picked up a huge 2-1 win over Wigan. The difference in the match happened in the 25th minute.
Wigan’s James McCarthy fired the ball into his own net.
The Latics McCarthy misplayed a no pressure ball and shanked this baby into the back of his own net.
Choke City baby.
Wigan’s Gary Caldwell evened this baby up two minutes later (27th minute) however Villa’s James Milner hit the winner 63rd minute.
The win moves Aston Villa into seventh place with 49 points in 28 games.
The race for the final Champions League spot looks like this.
Tottenham has 52 points in 28 matches. Liverpool is in fifth place with 51 points in 30 games. City is in sixth place 50 points in 28 matches.
De Futebol
Flamengo was missing their best attacker Adriano. The Emperor was on loan to the national team. Adriano will play in Brasil’s final World Cup tune up against Ireland on Tuesday March 2nd.
Kleberson missed to due national team duty as well. Petkovic and Alvaro are out due to injuries.

Mengao struggled with Macae before turning on the jets to pull away for a 4-1 win.
Mengao was outplayed most of the match by Macae.
Vagner Love hit the daily double for Flamengo. He nailed a PK in the 28th minute. Love later nailed the close range power shot in the 68th minute.
Vinicius Pacheco hit for the daily double too. Pacheco scored off a quick free kick by mate Vagner Love in the 58th minute. Pacheco had an easy one on one with the keeper Jeferson. This was no match.
Pacheco fired a long rang sniper shot from the top of the box in the 73rd minute that flat out beat the keeper through the wickets.
The difference maker in the match for Mengao was Vagner Love.

I will take it. A win is a win but this Flamenguista is not a happy camper with the way my guys are playing against the smaller clubs. If Mengao does not improve, we will not compete for the two peat.
Liverpool scored a huge win 2-1 over Blackburn at Anfield. Fernando Torres started his first match for Reds since January 13th.
Torres also ripped the twines in the 44th minute. Steven Gerrard started the Reds off right with a huge goal in the 20th minute. This gave Liverpool an early 1-0 lead.
Tottenham picked up a huge 2-1 over Everton at White Hart Lane.
Sunderland and Fulham were deadlocked nil-nil.
The EPL race shapes up this way Chelsea is top gun with 61 points. Man U is second with 60 and Arsenal is third with 58. Spurs and Man City each have 49 points but Tottenham is fourth on a better goal difference. Spurs are a plus 23 while City is a plus 17.
Liverpool is sixth with 48.
The Miracle worker Wayne Rooney came off the bench to score the match winner in the 74th minute. Man U just got by Aston Villa 2-1 to win the Carling Cup.
The match started off on an ominous note for the Red Devils. A dumb foul in the box by Vidac. He should have been given the heave-hoe but the ref said no way boys.

Michael Owens hit the equalizer in the 12th minute.
Villa defender Richard Dunne lost the ball to Berbatov. Dunn makes a brilliant recovery. He strips the ball from Berbatov. Somehow, the ball comes loose and Owens scopes up the garbage and scores.

Estudiantes was locked in deadly nil-nil draw with the Pohang Steelers in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Club Cup.
The Pohang Steelers were hanging in there with the superior Argentinean side then a dumb challenge by Pohang’s Jung Kim in the 45th minute created the opportunity Estudiantes needed to take a choke hold on this match.
Whamo. Bam. Match changer time. Free kick. The ball was lifted high into the air. Bing. Header. Nothing but the back of the net. 1-0 Estudiantes. Leandro Benitez’s head ticks the winner to send this match spinning out of control.
This goal took all the steam out of the Pohang Steelers sails.
Estudiantes put the match out of reach when Leandro Benitez hit the daily double in the 53rd minute. This made 2-0 Estudiantes.
Estudiantes Enzo Perez lobbed the ball over the keeper. Benitez was left free near the left post. Pohang defender Kim Jae-sung lost Benitez. Benitez ripped the ball that went boom off the left post and went flying into the back of the net.
Pohang made it very interesting in the 70th minute. Denilson Martins Nascimiento ripped home the close range winner to make it 2-1 Estudiantes.
Three Pohang Steelers got the heave-hoe.
Pohang’s headman Brasileiro Sergio Farias alluded to the fact that the fix may have been in.
From what I saw, no way Jose was the fix in. The Pohang Steelers played dirty futebol.
Estudiantes has their spot booked in the 2009 FIFA World Club Cup final.
We will know on Wednesday who their dance partner will be. It will be either Barcelona or Atlante.
If I were a betting man, the other finalist would be… I will give you three guess and the first two don’t count.
Aston Villa took care of business in Sunderland’s house the Stadium of Light. Villa breezed to a 2-0 win over Sunderland. Heskey found the back of the net in the 24th minute to give Villa a 1-0 lead.
James Milner sealed the deal in the 61st minute. Milner ripped the shot past the keeper Fulop that put Villa up 2-0. This was all she wrote.
Game, set, and match to Villa.
Villa looks like they are making at run at a league leaders Manchester United and Chelsea.
Villa moves into third place with 32 points.
United righted their wobbly ship by thrashing lowly Wolves 3-0. Rooney started off the goal parade for Manchester United.
Ronald Zubar gave the Red Devils a gift goal. There was no pressure what so ever on Zubar. He made a bone headed play. All he had to do was head the ball out of danger. But no dumbo punched the ball out. Maybe he thought he was playing volleyball. This was a no-no. It was PK time. Up stepped Rooney. Bam. The back of the net was ripped. It is 1-0 Manchester United after thirty minutes.
Man U applied more pressure on Wolverhampton. In the 43rd minute Darron Gibson fired a corner kick right on the button. Vidic ripped the header from dead center of the box to make it 2-0 Red Devils.
You can now stick a fork in Wolves for they are surely done.
Valencia nailed the right-footed winner in the 66th minute to give Man U a huge 3-0 win over Wolverhampton.
The win moves Manchester United into a first place tie with Chelsea in the EPL.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea will play on Wednesday night.
Both of these squads know what result is needed. A loss by either side would be disastrous.
