This is the skinny.

Corinthians defeated Ceara 1-0.

Vasco and Palmeiras tied one all.

Timao has 64 points.

Vasco has 62 points.

Flu beat Gremio in a shootout 5-4.

So here’s what the guys from Mengao need to do.

We have to beat fourth place Figueirense on later on Thursday.

Flamengo is in sixth place.

A win would put the guys in fourth place.

Rubro-Negro has lost two out of their last three matches.

Ronaldinho Gaucho, Deivid, and Thiago Neves have to come up big.

We can’t have any more brain farts on the “D”.

If we do our season is doomed to a huge failure.

As it stands right now nine points separate Mengao from top dog Timao.

A win would cut the gap to six points with three matches left to play so a lot things have to got to go right for Flamengo to win the whole enchilada.

However Rubro-Negro has a good chance to finish in the top four.

If the guys can do this they will compete in the Copa Libertadores.

Mengao found a new way to screw up big time. The guys had a chance to move up the table but no they blew a two-goal lead to Gremio and wound up losing 4-2.

Deivid and Thiago Neves scored in the 23^rd and 34^th minutes.

Gremio ripped off four-second half goals to win going away 4-2.

This loss may have stuck a fork in Rubro-Negro’s chances of winning the Brasileiros Serie A.

As matter of fact Flamengo dropped from fourth to fifth place in the table.

Corinthians and Vasco each have 58 points.

Timao is top dog because they have 17 wins compared with Gigante de Colina’s 16 wins.

Both sides each have a plus 14-goal difference.

Corinthians beat Avai 2-1.

Vasco and Sao Paulo tied nil-nil.

The guys have sunk to new highs in finding ways to shot themselves in the head, foot, and heart.

This is getting past ridiculous.

Andre Lima led the attack for Gremio with a second half daily double.

They guys played very tentatively in the second half.

Ronaldinho Gaucho got a yellow card this may have taken some of the steam out of his play.

Let’s remember Gaucho was coming off a suspension for a previous red card about two weeks ago.

Still you can’t stop playing and this is exactly what Mengao did.

Ronaldinho foi participativo, tentou jogadas, dribles, tudo que sempre faz. Não desrespeitou o time que o projetou para o futebol, mas também não saiu comemorando o resultado. Acabou perdendo fôlego com o tempo, como o Fla, que vencia mas deixou escapar os pontos por entre os dedos.

A situação de tabela para os cariocas fica mais complicada. Com as vitórias de Fluminense e Botafogo, era obrigação vencer, algo que não aconteceu. Atualmente, o time do Rio de Janeiro tem 52 pontos, já  Grêmio chega a 46.

We are nearing the stretch run of the Brasileiros Serie A. Santos is fading fast. Gremio defeated Santos 1-0 on Wednesday.

Cruzeiro and San Paulo tied at three all.

This tie may have really hurt Tricolors chances of winning the Campeonato.

Peixe is falling off the end of the table.

Santos is in 13^th place with 35 points.

Peixe has dropped three straight after winning three in a row.

Santos is now stuck in neutral.

Peixe is spinning their gears and getting nowhere fast.

In Sao Paulo’s last six matches Tricolor has one win, two losses, and three draws.

Vasco is top dog in the Brasileiros Serie A with 50 points.

Corinthians is in second place with 48 points.

My guys from Flamengo are hovering in sixth place with 44 points.

There are eleven matches left.

This is a good time for Mengao to make a run.

If we can win nine outta eleven matches this could be enough to wrestle the title away from Gigante de Colina and Timao.

Mengao stopped the bleeding. Flamengo and Botafogo tied one all on Sunday.

This tie stopped the losing skid at four matches. Sure we haven’t won since August 9^th but at least Rubro-Negro got the all-allusive point.

Flamengo is in sixth place 37 points.

Corinthians lost to Santos 1-0.

Vasco killed Gremio 4-0.

Gigante de Colina is in the pole position with 45 points.

Sao Paulo picked up a huge 4-0 win over Ceara.

Fluminense lost to Bahia 3-0.

Internacional and Coritiba tied at one all.

If Colorado won they would have passed Mengao in the table.

Fogao drew first blood in the 25^th minute.

Abreu ripped the twines for a 1-0 lead.

Mengao found the answer in the 49^th minute.

Jael deposited the ball into the back of the net to save Flamengo’s bacon.

UOL wrote this-Thiago Neves, apesar de não fazer uma boa partida, chamou a responsabilidade e fez todas as finalizações do time na primeira etapa. The truth is Mengao is playing like crap. Ronaldinho Gaucho isn’t playing worth a damn. Neither is Deivid nor Thiago Neves.  The entire squad needs to be shot at dusk for crappy play.

Flamengo picked up a huge 2-0 win over Gremio on Saturday. This coupled with a Sao Paulo 2-0 goose egg loss to Vasco gave Mengao second place in the Serie A.

Top dog Corinthians suffered a 3-2 loss on the road at the hands of 18^th place Avai.

This is Timao’s second straight loss.

Wow, low and behold Rubro-Negro has cut the gap to one point.

You gotta love it.

Timao is in the pole position with 28 points.

Flamengo is in second place with 27 points.

Third place belongs to Sao Paulo with 25 points.

Sure this sucker was in doubt until Thiago Neves gave Flamenguista nation a 1-0 lead in the 27^th minute.

Ronaldinho Gaucho set this baby up with a great dribble drive and pass.

Gaucho turned on the jets in the second half and scored in the 72^nd minute.

Thus puppy salted away the win.

Game, set, and match to Mengao.

Flamengo has not won at Furacao since 1972.

This is a long time folks.

The tie keeps Rubro-Nero’s winless steak in tack against Fucacao.

Flamengo is currently in 11^th place with six points.

We dropped two spots in the table.

This is because Mengao has only one win while Gremio, Fluminense, and Atletico-MG each has two wins. These clubs each  have six points tamben but Tricolor, Dragao, and Po-de arroz are above Flamengo because they have two wins.

Mengao has a better plus minus score.

Sao Paulo is in the pole position with 12 points.

Second place belongs Corinthians. Timao has ten points.

Palmeiras has eight points.

Mengao dominated the match but could only dent the back of the net once- A medida que a etapa foi passando, o Atlético-PR foi transpassando a marcação do Flamengo e começou a dominar as ações da partida. Porém o problema de objetividade também atingia a equipe de Adílson Batista. Por isso, as bolas paradas se transformaram em trunfo. Contudo, tão ruim era a fase, que a bola teimava em não entrar.

O segundo tempo começou e Vanderlei mudou a disposição tática do Flamengo. O treinador promoveu a entrada de Deivid e Diego Maurício, sacando o meio-campo Bottinelli e Wanderley. Mas não deu tanto resultado e o Atlético-PR continuava melhor.

The first week of the campeonato is in the books. What have learned so far?

Flamengo is a stronger side with Ronaldinho Gaucho. With Ronaldinho in the lineup, this opens up the entire offense and creates so many scoring options.

Thiago Neves is given the freedom to roam.

Diego Mauricio can crash the net.

Ronaldinho Gaucho is still one of the top players in the world. He is learning how to become a team player.

Gaucho had a goal and two assists against Avai.

Sao Paulo started off on a good note with a 2-0 win over Fluminense.

Flu is the won the 2010 title.

Corinthians, Vasco, America-MG, and Figueirense picked up first round wins.

Losers were Cruzeiro, Botafogo, and Gremio.

Remember this is just the first round of  long and hard Serie A Campeonato.

The season ends in December.

Flamenguistas have to be happy but Mengao can rip your heart out. Rubro-Negro always does.

I am not going to hold my breath.

I expect the worst.

The Brasileiros sides crashed and burned on Wednesday night in the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores.

Not a good night indeed.

Gremio, Internacional, Fluminense, and Cruzeiro stunk the joint out big time.

Raposa had a 2-1 lead over Once Caldas after the first stage was played in Columbia.

Coming home should have been a breeze for Cruzeiro.

Not.

The Columbian side scored two goals and advanced into the next round on a 3-2 aggregate.

Second half goals by Diego Amaya, 66^th minute, and Dayro Mauricio Moreno 71^st minute sent Once Caldas to the Promised Land.

Flu destroyed Libertad 3-1 in Rio de Janeiro.

Libertad needed to score three goals and hold Fluminense goal less to win this sucker in Paraguay.

This is exactly what happened.

Libertad ripped the twines three times, won 3-0, and advanced 4-3 on aggregate.

Anther one of those choke city jobs.

The defending 2010 Copa Champs Internacional were chumps this time around blowing a 1-0 lead.

Colorado jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first minute on a goal by Junior Oscar Dos Santos Emboada.

Penarol scored twice to win this sucker 2-1 and win on aggregate 3-2 to advance.

Penarol and Internacional tied one all in Uruguay.

Gremio lost their first match to Univerisdad Catolica 2-1 at Porto Alegre.

Univerisdad Catolica secured a 1-0 home win in Santiago Chile to win on aggregate 3-1.

Santos is the only Brasileiros side to advance to the next round.

Santos defeated America 1-0 in Sao Paulo and then tied America nil-nil in Mexico City.

Way to show the world we have the best futebol on the planet.

Internacional moved to the head of the class in Group Six.

Colorado killed Emelec 2-0.

Goals by Rafael Sobis and Leandro Damiao led the way for Internacional into the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores.

Colorado is top dog with 13 points.

Chiapas is in second place with nine points.

Fluminense doubled up on Argentinos Juniors 4-2.

This was a huge win for Flu.

The win puts Fluminense in a second place tie with Nacional in Group Three.

Both sides have eight points however Flu advances to the next round of the Copa because of more goals scored.

The daily double by Fred leads the way for Fluminense.

Goals by Julio Cesar and Rafael Moura helped secure the defeat of Argentinos Juniors.

The loss knocked the Argentinos side out of the running.

Santos defeated Deportivo Tachira 3-1.

Peixe is now on to the next round também.

Santos and Cerro Porteri both had eleven points Group Five but Cerro Porteri had a plus five compared with Peixe’s plus three.

Cruzeiro and Gremio both advance as well.

It is now the knockout stage in the Copa Libertadores.

The round of sixteen begins on April 23^rd.

The Brasileiros sides are a perfect four for four into the next round.

It sure looked like both Santos and Fluminense wouldn’t make it to the next round but both sides made a huge run to advance.

There’s lots of wild stuff happening on the South American front in futebol. Cruzeiro destroyed Argentina side Estudiantes 3-0 in Group play in the Copa Libertadores.

Thiago, Wallyson, and Gilberto Melo ripped the twines for Raposa.

Cruzeiro is top dog in Group 7 with 16 points.

Estudiantes is in second place with ten points.

Both Raposa and Estudiantes are on to the next round.

In Argentinos futebol familiar side, River Plate is in the pole position with 18 points.

Los Millionaires has been hanging around the bottom of the table the past four to five years.

Maybe the hard times are over for River Plate.

Los Millionaires has won 33 Argentinos futebol titles.

River Plate took care of business on Sunday beating Banfield 1-0 on Saturday. This was Los Millionaires third win in a row.

Velez Sarsfield is in second place with 17.

Olimpo is third with 16 points.

Boca Juniors is stinking the joint out big time sitting in 16^th place with 10 points.

Los Xeneizes has lost four out of their last six matches.

Brasileiros side Gremio battles Bolivian side Oriente Petrolero in Group 2 action tonight in the Copa. 

This war will take place in Santa Cruz Bolivia.

Gremio will have to battle the top team in Bolivian futebol plus being twelve thousand feet in air.
