The bums from Flamengo showed they might have some real firepower.

After breezing through the Campeonato do Rio Rubro-Negro jumped all over Avai 4-0.

Ronaldinho Gaucho scored a goal in the 64^th minute.

He had two assists.

Gaucho took it straight to the house and then laid off a perfect pass for Diego Mauricio.

Mauricio ripped the twines in the 87^th minute.

Thiago Neves added a brilliant dribble drive into the box. Neves stopped and popped. He connected in the 69^th minute.

This puppy was set up by Ronaldinho Gaucho’s penetration move into the attacking zone.

Dario Bottinelli started the rout off in the 25^th minute.

Bottinelli’s strike found the back of the net.

Mengao looked good.

The guys kept the pressure on Avai all match long.

Flamengo started off great last year but things went to hell in a hand basket really quick. Let’s hope Mengao doesn’t have a repeat of last year.

Rubro-Negro was almost sent packing to the second division.

The Brasileiros sides stunk the joint out big time in Group play of the Copa Libertadores.

Fluminense was shut out 2-0 by Uruguayan side Nacional. With the loss, Flu is dead last in Group 3.

Internacional lost to Mexican side Chiapas 1-0. The good news is this Colorado is still top dog in Group 6.

This was defending Copa champ Internacional’s first loss in the competition.

Santos picked up a huge 3-2 win over Colo Colo.

Neymar led the way for Peixe for a strike in the 51^st minute.

Santos jumped out a huge 3-0 lead before giving up two late goals.

Peixe is in third place in Group 5.

There are two matches left and Santos needs to win both of these suckers if Peixe wants to move outta group play.

Cerro Porto is top dog with eight points.

Colo Colo is in second place with six points.

Jeez, this baby is close.

If I were a beating man, who I am not, Internacional and Cruzeiro should move on.

Both Santos and Gremio have a chance but we will see what happens.

Flamengo applied a ton of pressure on Duque de Caxias however Mengao couldn’t find the back of the net until Renato nailed a perfectly placed long range shot into the back of the net in the 73^rd minute.

Renato then fired another salvo into the teeth of the Caxias “D”.

Hamilton didn’t have a chance and he put the ball into the back of his own net in the 89^th minute.

Deivid had several good scoring chances but he fired blanks.

O Flamengo continuou pressionando o Duque de Caxias e logo aos cinco minutos, em outro lance confuso, Deivid perdeu duas boas chances para fazer 1 a 0. Após cobrança de falta, ele finalizou e Fernando salvou. No rebote, o goleiro defendeu novamente e Ari aliviou o perigo. Way to go guys England snatched a sure draw from the jaws of victory against Ghana in an international friendly.

Andy Carroll was told by Fabio Capello dude you gotta curb your drinking. Carroll heeded Capello’s warning and scored Three Lions only goal of the match in the 43^rd minute.

Asamoah Gyan ruined Carroll’s night by scoring the tying goal in the 90^th minute.

Gyan made the entire English “D” look like a bunch of schoolgirls trying to catch Bob Hayes.

This cat faked the Three Lions defenders out of their collective jocks.

I bet my friend Tophatal had a fit when he saw his mates do the choke city in the final moments.

Mengao had a chance to move to the top spot in Group A of the Taca Rio. Instead, the boo-Mengao gave up an own goal by Wellington and survived against lower side Madureira to stay with in striking distance of top dog Vasco.

Trailing 3-1, Rubro-Negro staged a huge comeback in the final twenty-five minutes.

Ronaldinho Gaucho dribble drive down the left sideline set up the goal by Leo Moura in the 74^th minute.

Ronaldinho Gaucho spilt the “D “ and lay off a great pass past the outstretched fingertips of keeper Cleber to eager feet of Moura.

In the 82^nd minute Thiago Neves dialed up a long-range bomb that exploded into the back of net.

Mengao hasn’t lost a match in the Carioca Campeonato.

Ronaldinho Gaucho celebrated his 31^st birthday with friends at huge party. He partied hardy for two days and then returned to training.

Ronaldinho Gaucho was given the heave-hoe from Sunday’s match against Cabofriense. His absence couple with Thiago Neves getting the heave-hoe também cost us dearly.

It was only tie but it could have been worse.

Globo Esporte wrote it this way- Ronaldinho Gaúcho demonstrou fôlego para apagar as velas pelos seus 31 anos. Depois de dois dias de folga e uma grande festa que varou a madrugada e se estendeu durante toda segunda-feira, dia do seu aniversário, o camisa 10 se reapresentou na tarde desta terça no Ninho do Urubu, em Vargem Grande (Zona Oeste do Rio). O jogador fez musculação por aproximadamente 20 minutos e depois, sob chuva, foi para o campo correr durante 15 minutos. E pisou um pouco no freio.

Red Football Joint Venture – owned by the Glazer family – revealed the figure for the year ending June 30, 2010 in their accounts, which also include a number of one-off payments, according to files submitted to Companies House. One of those was the cost of setting up a £526 million bond scheme to provide the American owners with cash in the short-term to service a number of outstanding debts.

While the previous year’s results revealed a profit of £21 million, payment in kind (PIK) loans that have since been paid off were also a contributing cause for the downturn in fortunes. A lack of notable player sales has also been blamed – in 2010 the club could include the £80 million departure of Cristiano Ronaldo as part of their trading.

United’s own club accounts were published in October and revealed losses of £83.6 million. At the time chief executive David Gill remained upbeat about financial matters at Old Trafford.

“We have money in the bank so there is zero pressure on that, no pressure at all to sell any star player,” Gill said at the time. “We have £165 million in the bank but in some ways we would prefer to have £80 million in the bank and Ronaldo on the pitch.”

Sir Alex Ferguson could be set to rebuild his side in the summer, with Manuel Neuer, David de Gea, Javier Pastore and Jack Rodwell all linked with the club in recent weeks. And, even in light of the financial news, Ferguson has been assured he will have money to spend.

A source told ESPNsoccernet: “There have been suggestions that the club are financially handicapped in some way with the latest accounts of the club’s parent company showing more than a £100 million loss for the year, but they are exceptional circumstances.

“There is £165 million cash in the bank, and even as we stand the club would pass UEFA’s fair financial play rules. No one is saying Sir Alex is going to spend all the cash in the bank, but he is going to replace a number of star players, and that is not going to come cheap. If he wishes to spend £100 million the funds are in place for him to do so.

“As for the club’s finances, Manchester United are on course to break the £100 million commercial profits barrier for the year. The club is best judged financially from the last quarterly accounts of the club, which showed the debt in the region of £500 million, interest repayments of £45 million but £100 million profits in a year.”

Boavista-RJ is in second place with nine points but Gigante da Colina has a plus four while Boavista-RJ has a plus 3.

Lets start with the Campeonato.

Fluminense is top dog with 61 points. Second place belongs to Corinthians with 60 points. Sitting in third place is Cruzeiro with 60 points também. Timao has a better goal difference. Corinthians has a plus 21 while Raposa is a plus 12.

Mengao is buried in 13^th place with 40. Flamengo is a perfect zero goal difference yet this is a deceiving number.

In our last four matches, Rubro-Negro has given up five goals while scoring only four.

This is a minus one.

Flamengo “D’ has been suspect all year. At times Mengao has looked great while times we looked like a machine gun riddled body.

Marcelo Lomba has taken over for super keeper Bruno in June of this year. Bruno is the hoosegow for murder. Lomba is good but he ain’t no Bruno.

Bruno was bad at times but he could flat out play keeper.

Flamengo sorely misses the murdering bastard.

There are four matches left in the season.

Our title hopes are dead but we need to win two out of our last four matches to avoid the drop-dead zone.

Up on Saturday is Atletico-MG at Galo’s house in Mineiro.

Galo is one-step above the voce vai zone.

Atletico-MG has 36 points.

A win would give Galo 39 points.

Flamengo defeated Madureira 2-0. The win was not pretty. Fact, Mengao played like crap.

Rubro-Negro should have killed this lower division side but no Flamengo let them hang around to almost the bitter end before a strike by Vagner Love in the 88^th minute put the match out of reach.

Love spilt the “D” on a well placed through ball by Ramon. Love fired the shot over the keeper Jefferson’s head. Top shelf right sealed the deal.

Love should have scored in the 4^th minute but his shot was tipped away by Madureira keeper Jefferson.

Mengao finally scored in the 14^th minute. A well-placed free kick into the goalmouth was batted around until Flamengo’s Fernando corralled the ball and knocked home the winner for a 1-0 Mengao lead.

Vagner Love had another chance in the 28^th minute but his shot flat out missed the mark

Flamenguistas were getting very restless with the stinko play. A chorus of boos was heard throughout Maracanã.

We were getting restless.

Madureira almost hit the equalizer early in the second half but Bruno swatted away the for sure goal to save Mengao’s hide.

Globo Esporte wrote this – No início do segundo tempo, o Madureira esteve perto do empate aos nove minutos. Bruno entrou na área e bateu à esquerda do gol. Juan respondeu com um cruzamento que quase surpreendeu Jefferson. O goleiro colocou a escanteio.

Thank God for Bruno.

 Love had a great opportunity in the 62^nd minute but Love was a little late getting to the great pass by Vinicius Pacheco in the box.

Love had another gimmie goal in the 78^th minute. Love was one on one with the keeper. He shanked it.

Globo Esporte had this to say- Aos 17 minutos, Vinícius Pacheco cruzou da ponta esquerda e por pouco Vagner Love não alcançou. Sob vaias a todo o time, o Artilheiro do Amor recebeu passe de Vinícius Pacheco, aos 33, entrou cara a cara com Jefferson, mas chutou em cima do goleiro. Vinícius pedia a devolução do passe, mas estava impedido.

The match can be summed up this way. Mengao had a too close to call 1-0 win over Madureira until Vagner Loves’s goal in the dying moments of the match made it 2-0. We have the final tune up before the 2010 World Cup kicks off in June in South Africa. Brasil battles Ireland at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday March 2^nd.

This will be Dunga’s last chance to tweak the line up and see which players will make the final World Cup squad.

Sure, bets are Robinho, Kaka, Cesar, Luis Fabiano, Maicon, Lucio, Daniel Alves, and Felipe Melo.

This is just a partial list.

Adriano will be teamed with Robinho up front. I sure hope this works out. Adriano is still very iffy.
