Author: River Plate escaped falling into third place by the hair of their chinny chin chin. Los Millionaires and Guillermo Brown tied at two all. River Plate gave up a late goal this could have cost em big time. Los Millionaires has a superior goal difference and this saved their asses.
Rosario Central shut out Atletico Tucuman 2-0.
Instituto de Cordoba killed Almirante Brown 3-1.
Los Canallas is top dog with 68 points. River Plate and La Gloria are tied on points with 66. Los Millionaires is a plus 36. Instituto de Cordoba is a plus 31.
Almirante Brown was born January 17th, 1922. The closest Almirante Brown came to making it to the big boys league was in 1991-92. They missed by one game. Atletico Tucuman beat them in the final game.
Boca Juniors sits atop the leader board with 29 points. Tigre and Newell’s Old Boys are tied on points with 28. Matador is a plus eleven. La Lepra is plus eight.
Newell’s Old Boys lost to Tigre 3-1. Los Xeneizes defeated Racing 2-0. La Lepra’s loss to Matador couple with Boca’s win over Racing allowed Los Xeneizes leapfrog back to the top stop in the Clausura.

Flamengo started off the Brasileiros Sere A with a one-one tie against Sport. Mengao fell behind early. Rubro-negro gave up a goal in the 57th minute. Marquinhos ripped the winner. Flamengo got the equalizer in the 74th minute. Vanger tickled the twines to level this sucker at one all.
If it wasn’t for Love Mengao would be shit outta luck.
Flamengo is not playing very well. Ronaldinho Gaucho played great last year but this year he is playing with his head up ass. He is not worth the big bucks they are paying him. If Rubro-negro didn’t sign Vanger Love this season so far would be a lot worse.
The one saving grace is this. This sucker was played at Leao’s house.

The Champions League will be happening later today in Germany. Bayern Munich and Chelsea will duke it out to see who will wear the crown. No one expected the Blues and Der FCB to be in the finals. The idiot pundits said it would be Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both of these Spanish giants were sent packing by the dogs. You gotta love the dogs. Now the dogs will fight to see who will be the top dog.
This dogfight will be at Munich’s house. The Germans are expected to win but don’t count out Chelsea. I will be pulling for the Blues to win this sucker.
Watch out for Didier Drogba. He will be the key.
In the Copa Libertadores Boca Juniors got by Fluminense 1-0 at Los Xeneizes house. Pablo Mouche nailed the winner in the 51st minute. Velez Sarsfield defeated defending Copa champion Santos 1-0. Mauro Ivan Obolo scored in the 35th minute. Peixe lost in El Fortin house.
The return legs will be played in Brasil. Both Brasileiros sides just to need score and hold Boca and Velez Sarsfield scoreless and the trip to the semifinals is Peixe’s and Flu’s.
UOL wrote this about Fluminense 1-0 loss to Los Xeneizes. O primeiro lance de perigo da partida pertenceu ao Fluminense, numa boa trama do ataque, aos 11min. The difference in the match besides the goal was Carlinhos was given the heave-hoe and this act of stupidity cost Flu big time.
UOL has this to say about the Santos loss. “Neymar perdeu o duelo para o lateral direito improvisado, Peruzzi, que ameaçou o craque em tom de brincadeira antes da partida. O camisa 11 do Santos não conseguiu escapar da marcação quase individual do argentino, que ainda contava com o volante Cubero na sobra. Além de não render no ataque, o craque santista recebeu um cartão amarelo por simular uma falta.”

All the spots are booked in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. Santos kicked ass and took names in their 8-0 win over Bolivar. Neymar led the way with the daily double. Elano and Ganso each hit the daily double também. Peixe wins 9-2 on aggregate.
Fluminense defeated Internacional 2-1 and won on aggregate 2-1. Fred’s goal in the 45th minute sent Flu to the Promised Land.
Universidad de Chile destroyed Depor Quito 6-0. The Chilean side won on aggregate 7-4.
Flu will battle six time Copa champion Boca Juniors in the quarterfinals.
Corinthians and Vasco will duke it out.
Libertad and Universidad de Chile have a hot date.
Velez Sarsfield and Santos will wage war.
UOL wrote this about the ass whopping Peixe gave Bolivar. The hero was Neymar.” Os dois gols de Neymar na massacrante vitória sobre o Bolívar, por 8 a 0, pela Libertadores, junto com a “lambreta” dada sobre um defensor rival geraram bons destaques na imprensa internacional.

Futebol is winding down for the season in Europe. In South America the real season begins. Let’s remember South America is the opposite of Europe and the good old USA. It’s wintertime in Brasil. The Serie A will kick off May 20th. The Copa Libertadores is now in the knockout stage. A champion will be crowned and then they’ll join either Chelsea or Bayern Munich in he FIFA World Club title hunt that will happen in December.
Boca Juniors defeated Union Espanola 3-2 to advance on aggregate 5-3. Juan Riquelme led Los Xeneizes attack by scoring a goal and setting up two more. Corinthians shut out Emelec 3-0 to advance on aggregate 3-0. Lanus edged Vasco 2-1 to force a PK shootout. Both Gigante de Colina and Lanus were tied three all on aggregate. Vasco won in a PK shootout 5-4. Oh what a thrill it is.
The round of sixteen will commence on May 10th.
My guys from Mengao stunk the joint out against Emelec in the Group stage and were thus sitting home in Rio weeping their eyes out. Flamenguista nation is pissed big time. We are not happy campers.
South America futebol doesn’t get much attention from the rest of the futebol world but many of the world’s top players come from Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile just to name a few. The greatest player of all time is Pele. He’s a Brasileiro. He played most of his career with Santos. Pele ended his career with the New York Cosmos. Santos is a city in the State of Sao Paulo.
Sure everyone knows of Man City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and the rest but let’s look at their collective rosters and one will find their best players are from South America.

The English Championship ended their regular season. Reading and Southampton have punched their ticket to the big boys league. West Ham, Birmingham, Blackpool, and Cardiff City will have a playoff to see who will be third side to get their ticket punched to the EPL.
Jack Colson hit the daily double to lead West Ham to a 2-0 win over Cardiff City.
These two sides will meet again on Monday to decide which one advances to the championship game.
Later today Blackpool battles Birmingham in their first leg at the Seasiders house. The return leg will take place on Wednesday. Both Blues and Blackpool were sent down last year.
Instituto de Cordoba is still the top dog in Nacional B with 62 points. River Plate is hanging onto second place with 59 points. Rosario Central has 59 points também but Los Millionaires has a plus 33 while Los Canallas is plus 14. The top two teams will advance to D-1 ball in Argentina.
Last time out River Plate and Aldosivi tied one all. Tiburon is in sixth place.
Instituto defeated Gimnasia 1-0.
Both La Gloria and Los Millionaires have hot dates on Saturday. River Plate- Gimnasia hooks up while Instituto de Cordoba Guillermo Brown tangle.
Three points separate Los Millionaires, La Gloria, and third place club Los Canallas.
Rosario Central and Huracan battle on Sunday.
This is nut-cutting time for these clubs.
Boca Juniors is the main man in the Clausura with 24 points. Velez Sarsfield is in second place with 23 points. Newell’s Old Boys are third with 22 points.
Los Xeneizes defeated Colon de Santa Fe 1-0. La Lepra and All Boys tied at one all. El Fortin tore apart Estudiantes 2-0.
The Clausura ends on June 24th.
River Plate and Boca Juniors are the two most decorated clubs in Argentinos futebol history Both Los Millionaires and Los Xeneizes have a combined 63 domestic titles.

Mengao blew a 1-0 lead and lost to Vasco for the second straight time in the semifinals. This time it happened in the Taça Rio. This loss sent Flamenguista nation in to massive suicide watch.
Kleberson scored first for Flamengo. Ronaldinho Gaucho started the break with a great counter attack. Gaucho hit Vagner Love. Love found Kleberson who put the ball into the back of the net.
UOL- “ O jogo começou com o Vasco buscando o ataque pelo lado esquerdo com Diego Souza. Entretanto, o Flamengo precisou chegar no gol de Fernando Prass apenas uma vez para abrir o placar. Aos 2min, Ronaldinho puxou contra-ataque rápido, lançou Kleberson, que fez grande passe para Vagner Love que dominou no peito e tocou na saída do goleiro vascaíno, 1 a 0.”
Gigante de Colina evened this sucker up and that was all she wrote. Vasco scored the next three goals to make it 3-1. Vanger Love scored a cosmetic goal for a 3-2 final score.
Felipe hit the daily double to lead Vasco to the win.
UOL- “Melhor na partida, faltava ao Vasco apenas acertar o último toque para empatar a partida, o que ocorreu aos 13min com Eder Luis, aproveitando rebote do goleiro do Flamengo em chute de Felipe, 1 a 1. Antes, o camisa 7 havia perdido mais uma boa oportunidade dentro da grande área, chutando por cima da meta rubro-negra.”
Vasco will take on Botafogo for the Taça Rio title. Fogao defeated Bangu 4-2. Gigante de Colina and Botafogo will meet this Sunday to settle who is the best in Rio de Janeiro.
Globo Esporte wrote this about the Rubro-negro fiasco. “Foi uma partida emocionante. Flamengo e Vasco testaram o coração dos torcedores com problemas cardíacos, neste domingo, no Engenhão. My guys from Flamengo defeated Americano-RJ 3-1 to advance to the semifinals of Taça Rio. Mengao finished atop Group A with 21 points. Rubro-negro will battle archrival Vasco in the semifinals. Gigante de Colina beat us in the semifinals of the Taça Guanabara.
Deivid lead the Flamengo attack with the daily double. Mate Kleberson added a tally of his own to lead the guys to the win.
UOL- “ fizeram o necessário para vencer o Americano. E com o 3 a 1 obtido neste domingo, a equipe rubro-negra manteve a ponta, evitou a hostilidade da torcida presente e, agora, enfrenta o rival Vasco na briga por um vaga na final do segundo turno do Estadual.
Após a eliminação precoce na Libertadores, o foco do Flamengo ficou todo voltado para o Carioca. Mas como já entrou em campo classificado, o time da Gávea se permitiu poupar suas estrelas: Ronaldinho Gaúcho (dores na perna direita), Vagner Love (dores no joelho direito), Léo Moura (dores no joelho direito) e Willians (coxa esquerda) ficaram de fora da partida.”

The weekend is here and you know what that means more EPL futebol action. The biggie happening later today is Man City at Norwich City. The Citizens need to come out swinging for the fences. Man City can’t afford another loss or tie against a second tier club.
Man U takes on Aston Villa on Sunday. This sucker is at Sir Alex and the Boys house Old Trafford. The Red Devils can’t afford to stub their toe against Villa. We will know how close the race will be between City and Man U. It could be as little as two points or stay the same when the mighty boys from Old Trafford take to the pitch on Sunday.
My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with Wigan on Monday. We need to set the record straight and win this sucker big time. A win will give us eight points clear of Spurs. Let’s remember Tottenham has a game in hand.
So lets nail those cats to wall and give Gunner nation something to scream about.
Flamengo pulled off their end of the bargain by beating Lanus 3-0. However Emelec scored a last second goal against Olimpia to win 3-2 and thus send Mengao crashing and burning out of the Copa Libertadores.
Rubro-negro has no one to blame for this stupidity but themselves. Flamengo gave up a late goal against Emelec and thus Mengao lost 3-2. This lost last week killed us.
UOL- O jogo começou em ritmo lento e com muitos erros de passe, principalmente pelo lado do Flamengo. Empurrado pela torcida, o Rubro-Negro conseguiu levar perigo pela primeira vez aos 10min. Ronaldinho Gaúcho deu bom passe na área para Vagner Love, que, de canhota, bateu à esquerda do goleiro Marchesín.
Enquanto Deivid perdia uma boa chance, o Emelec garantia a vitória sobre o Olimpia por 2 a 1. Os rubro-negros, no entanto, permaneceram em campo para aguardar o resultado final no Paraguai. Os donos da casa ainda chegaram ao 2 a 2 para a explosão do Engenhão. Mas a alegria durou apenas um minuto. My guys from Mengao will find out real quick if the guys will advance to the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores. Flamengo battles Lanus at our house Thursday night. A few things have to happen for Rubro-negro to advance. We need to get the big “W” and Emelec and Olimpia need to tie.

This is do or die for Flamenguista nation. UOL- Vencer o Lanús-ARG, líder do grupo, e torcer por um empate no duelo entre Olimpia-PAR e Emelec-EQU para alcançar a classificação na Libertadores é tarefa das mais improváveis para o Flamengo na noite desta quarta-feira, às 19h30. Ainda assim, o time apela a discursos clichês para não desanimar a torcida e ainda acreditar na tão sonhada vaga na próxima fase da competição.”
Manager Joel Santana said the guys don’t have any margin for error. Things have to break the right way for Flamengo to advance. UOL- “Em situação crítica na Copa Libertadores, o Flamengo já prepara os seus torcedores para uma possível eliminação na competição internacional após a disputa da fase de grupos. O treinador Joel Santana falou nesta quarta-feira sobre a condição que o seu time entra para a disputa da última rodada e comentou como jogadores e torcida devem se comportar caso a queda se confirme.”
Santana said Mengao must concentrate on beating Lanus and not think about the Olimpia-Emelec match.
Joel minimiza a atenção do Flamengo na partida entre Olimpia-PAR e Emelec-EQU. O treinador quer o seu time focado na partida do Engenhão. “É um equilíbrio muito grande. Se fosse muito desequilibrado, a gente já tiraria o cavalinho da chuva. Aqui vai ser mais difícil do que eles empatarem lá. Existe uma rivalidade nossa com os hermanos”, finalizou.”
River Plate is working its way out of hell. If Los Millionaires finish first or second in Nacional B they will get back to the Promised Land. River Plate is currently sitting in second place with 52 points. Los Millionaires is tied on points with Quilmes but River plate is a plus 30 while El Cervecero is a plus 29.
River Plate is coming off a huge 1-0 loss to Atlanta last Thursday. This was Los Millionaires first loss since December 3rd 2011.
Nacional B season ends June 23rd.
