De Futebol

We have arrived at the first international break of the new futebol season.

This is the stupidest idea in the world to begin play in the European Championships.

No wonder the world’s top players are breaking down all the time.

Rooney is broken. Robin Van Persie is coming off an injury. Fernando Torres is a wreck.

Why?

The world’s best players are playing 24-7 futebol.

The human body can only take so much wear and tear before it breaks down.

This is what is happening.

The best players in the world are coming off a domestic league schedule and then pile on top of that World Cup play.

Jeez, give me a break will ya.

FIFA needs their heads examined.

Give the players a break will ya.

The life of the world-class player now is what? Maybe ten years before the good old bod goes south.

Rooney can’t find the barn because he’s been playing non-stop since 2008.

Torres, Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, and the rest might make it until they are in their thirties before they are force to quit to due to injuries.

FIFA wake up and change this now.

You are ruining players and the game.

Enough is enough.

Maybe it is time to form a players union to stop this bullshit.

These are my thoughts during a break in the play in the EPL.

Players unite and form a union to stop the goons at FIFA from killing you.

De Futebol

Three matches into the EPL season and now we have our first international break. The action resumes September 12th after a two week break.

On Sunday, Liverpool finally picked up a 1-0 win over West Brom.

Super striker for the Reds Fernando Torres scored the only match of the goal in the 65th minute.

Torres is still not a 100%. He has had two major knee operations plus a pulled hammy in Spain’s World Cup final match in July.

His score showed how great this player is. Torres shifed ball the ball and fired the volley into the back of the net.

Game, set, and match to Liverpool.

This was a huge three points for the Reds.

Aston Villa defeated Everton 1-0.

In the battle of American keepers Tim Howard and Brad Friedel, Friedel had the best of it.

Tim Howard made two lights out saves but this was not enough to over come crappy defense by the Toffees.

The score of the match came in the 9th minute.

Luke Young received a great pass from mate Ashley Young. Luke Young fired home the winner past a helpless Tim Howard.

Toffees defender Marouane Fellaini let the ball slip under his feet. Whamo, bamo turnover. Goal for Villa.

Not good Garoto.

Everton now has two losses and tie to start the season.

This could spell doom for the Toffees.

Villa on the other hand has won two out of their first three matches.

Bolton and Birmingham tied at two all.

Sunderland pulled the upset special of the day beating Manchester City 1-0.

After blowing out Liverpool, what happened?

Lose to lowly Sunderland.

Way to go Garoto.

I love it.

Sybil City is your new name.

A PK in the dying moments cost man City big time.

Choke City baby.

City’s Micah Richards decided to play American Football and tackle the Black Cats Darren Bent.

You dummy.

I love it.

We’ll talk more about this in the next few days.

De Futebol

We’re two weeks into the season. There are a few surprises but other than that nothing much.

Chelsea has kicked ass. The Blues destroyed two really inferior sides Wigan and West Brom.

Manchester United took it Newcastle but stumbled against Fulham.

The Cottagers have a history of driving Sir Alex nuts.

Arsenal played great at home and pulled a rabbit of the Gunners hat in a miracle one all tie with Liverpool at Anfield.

My Gunners have played well so far.

Both Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas are nursing injures.

Theo Walcott has stepped up big time.

Capello decided to kick Walcott off the national team.

This was a huge mistake.

Capello needs to go.

Liverpool eked a tie against my Gunners but stunk the joint out against Man City.

Liverpool is on the way down.

Sure, the Reds are missing Fernando Torres but Liverpool has plenty of other good players such as Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog, and Joe Cole.

Liverpool is near the butt end of the table.

The Reds are in 17th place with one point.

Man U killed the Magpies but Newcastle turned the tables on Aston Villa. Newcastle destroyed Villa 3-0.

Blackpool picked up their first win in the EPL in 39 years but came crashing down to earth when my guys from Arsenal rang up six goals.

Wigan is headed down.

Blackpool will probably go too.

Don’t be surprised if Liverpool hovers in the bottom half of the table.

These are my thoughts after two matches but remember this can change in an instant.

De Futebol

Our road woes continue.

We need to find an answer to why Arsenal struggles on the road.

The Gunners escaped with a one all tie with Liverpool at Anfield.

This BS has to stop.

Liverpool was down to ten men.

Then lightening struck when Reds David Ngog broke free just outside the box. Ngog fired a perfect top shelf bullet. This laser beat keeper Manuel Almunia in the 46th minute.

We had the advantage but Arsenal couldn’t crack the Reds “D” code.

At several times in the second half it looked like Liverpool was playing twelve guys.

Then magic presto the match changed in an instant.

The clock was going tic, tic, tic. Time was winding on the match. A loss looked for certain. Gunners Rosicky fired a great cross into the teeth of the goalmouth. Chamakh bumps the ball towards the goal. Chamakh gets tangled with Reds keeper Reina. Reina bats the ball into the back of his own net in the 90th minute to us the equalizer.

Thanks be to God for the Abbott and Costello routine by Pepe Reina.

This huge gaff saved our bacon on this Sunday afternoon at Anfield.

This was a totally underserved one point.

If Arsenal is going to win the title, we need to win on the road.

If not we are sunk big time.

The champs always find ways to win on the road.

Last year EPL Champions Chelsea had the best road record.

Next up for us is newly promoted Blackpool.

The Seasiders are coming off a huge win 4-0 win over Wigan.

The only saving grace is that we are home.

It was good to see both Robin Van Persie and Liverpool’s Fernando Torres return to action.

From what I saw, our guys played too much one on one and didn’t work the ball around for a good shot.

Several times Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Samir Nasri, and Tomas Rosicky had good scoring chances but they could close the deal.

We have to learn how to finish.

Not a good start but I’ll take the one point.

Arsenal needs to improve.

De Futebol

There is one day left before we begin EPL play. I can’t wait. Yes, I love Brasileiro futebol but my passion is the EPL.

So you can say I am an American with a Brasilian heart and the passion of an Englishman who loves watching the EPL.

My two passions are Brasileiro futebol, and the EPL.

My wife loves futebol but she would like to have a Saturday free of futebol.

Oh yea, my wife had that since May but heck, who is counting.

There are some huge opening round matches. Tottenham battles Manchester City on Saturday. On Sunday, Liverpool takes on my Gunners.

Sure, these are huge opening salvos.

The outcome may have a lot to say on who will win the title and be in the race for the Champions League spots.

However, when the durst settles the usual suspects, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool will battle it out for the EPL crown.

Yes, I did say the Reds.

Why?

Last year was a fluke.

A new manager will make all the difference but the only problem I see is the injury to Fernando Torres. Torres was last seen collapsed on the pitch in Spain’s last match- the finals of the World Cup.

His is world-class player and if Torres can’t play, Liverpool will struggle.

I think Spurs will be a mid table side.

Last year was a fluke for Tottenham.

Man City is a good squad but I think they will finish seventh or eighth.

I think Carlos Tevez is a head case. He is a great player but he hates playing for Roberto Mancini. Tevez will cause problems for Mancini.

How will this translate onto the pitch?

This is the sixty four thousand dollar question.

City will not compete for the title.

This is too much garbage in this clubs closet.

On Saturday, I will talk about my Gunners, Man U, and Chelsea.

Here is a hint.

The Blues are good but they are on a downhill slide.

The glory days are about over for Chelsea.

De Futebol

I am sorry but this is pure stupidity. Let’s play international friendly’s a month after the World Cup is finish.

This makes as much sense as a fart in church.

Give me a break.

FIFA and the rest of national futebol organizations have shit for brains.

Guys, let’s look at the facts.

European regular season futebol is gearing up.

The EPL begins play on August 14th.

The USA takes on Brasil.

Keeper Tim Howard is the only world-class player the USA has is being used in a stupid good for nothing match.

Howard plays for EPL side Everton.

EPL begins regular season play in less than four days.

Howard could get hurt.

Everton should have told the USA federation to go to hell.

This is nuts.

No wonder players like Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres, and other great players are breaking down.

You can’t play 150 matches a year for three straight years and not have your body to break down.

Any idiot with a lick of sense knows without rest the body breaks down.

The National Federations are worse than dumb.

Sure Brasil looked good in a win over a horrible USA squad but so what?

Who cares?

Robinho played for Brasil.

Robinho could have been hurt. He plays for Brasil side Santos.

Campeonato is thirteen weeks into the season.

I wish these folks would have a lick of sense and stop this stupid shit.

Let the players rest and get ready for the season.

How many of the top players have had their careers cut short because of this insane schedule.

I can’t wait for the EPL to start.

The count down has begun.

Three days and counting.

Go Arsenal.

De Futebol

Finally the nation of Spain can breath a huge sigh of relief.

Spain defeated Germany 1-0 to advance to their World Cup final.

In reality, the Spanish last played in the World Cup semifinals.

Get this it was way back in the way back machine.

Try 1950.

Huge Kudos to Spain for their steady march towards their first title.

Spain is like a snake playing with its prey before killing it.

The Spanish are trying become the first team who lost their first World Cup match and win the title.

Italy lost their opener and made to the 1994 finals but lost to Brasil.

The German’s sat back and tried to play a defensive chess match with Spain.

Absorb the attack and then counter attack. It sounds good on paper but reality it is stupid.

Spain played with Germany thru the entire match.

The Spanish should have scored at least four times before Xavi nailed a perfect corner kick into the center of the box. Mate Carles Puyol poked home the header in the 73rd minute to send Spain to the finals against the Netherlands.

Puyol had plenty of hops. He out leaped a defender and one of his mates.

What makes this feat even more amazing is this Spain played without its two big time players Fabregas and Torres.

Both were hurt.

Fabregas and Torres will be ready for the final on Sunday against the Netherlands.

If the Netherlands uses this blue print to beat Spain, you can kiss your butt good-bye.

The Dutch have the firepower to match Spain’s.

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt, Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, and the old stand bys Arlen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.

This match features two teams who have not won a World Cup title.

The last time this happened was in 1978 between Argentina-Netherlands. Argentina won the whole enchilada.

This will be a barnburner.

You gotta love it.

De Futebol

The Dutch have made to the World Cup Finals. This marks the first time the Netherlands have made to the Word Cup Finals since 1978.

The Dutch lost Argentina in the 1978 finals.

Netherlands beat Uruguay 3-2.

The Dutch drew first blood when Giovanni Van Bronckhorst nailed a long  range missile in the 18th minute.

Uruguay tied this baby up one all in the 40th minute. Forlan hit the sweet spot in the back of the net off a deadly free kick from 25 yards out.

Uruguay put a strong fight against the mighty Dutch for most of the match.

Goals by Wesley Sneijder in the 70th minute and Arjen Robben in the 73rd minute broke wide open a one all match.

Sure, Uruguay added a cosmetic goal by Maxi Pereira in the 90th minute to make it a respectable 3-2.

The Uruguayans had two really good chances in the 93rd minute but missed it by that much.

The Netherlands has never won the World Cup.

With they finally break into the win column?

We will find out Sunday.

Germany-Spain will be played later today.

This will be a classic.

Germany is going for their fourth World Cup while Spain has never made this far.

The Germans last won the title in 1990.

Spain has lots of talent but nothing to show for it.

Will Cesc Fabregas, Xavi Hernandez, David Villa, and Fernando Torres.

Germany has the pedigree.

Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, and Phillip Lahm will provide lots of trouble for the Spanish.

These two teams met in the European championship.

Spain won.

This will be a classic.

De Futebol

Spain was one of the teams favored to win the World Cup. However, a funny on the way to being crowned champ Spain lost to Switzerland 1-0.

Gelson Fernandez ripped the winner in the 52nd minute.

Spain keeper Iker Casillas was forced to leave his line. He blocked the initial shot but the ball squirted free. Then a scramble ball ensued. Gelson Fernandez knocked home the gimmie ball.

This was all she wrote baby.

A real good win for the Swiss.

A little side note, no team that has lost its opening World Cup match has won the World Cup title.

We will see.

Spain was missing Fernando Torres and Cesc Fabregas.

This was a real kick in the nuts.

I still think Spain will make it out of the group stage and challenge for the title.

Chile shut out Honduras 1-0.

Jean Beausejour scored on a nifty goal in the 34th minute.

His mate Sanchez threaded the needle with a perfect pass that spilt the seam in the defense.

Uruguay blasted the home side South Africa 3-0.

The Africans had their lunch handle to them.

In plain and simple English South Africa stunk the joint out.

Diego Forlan hit for the daily double. He struck for pay dirt in the 24th and 80th minutes.

Alvaro ripped the twines in the 90th minute for Uruguay’s other tally.

What a day full of surprises.

Let’s what tomorrow holds.

De Futebol

The mighty boys from Old Trafford had a chance to move to the top of the table in the EPL. But no, Man U stunk the joint out on the road in a nil-nil tie with Blackburn.

The Red Devils had at least ten chances to get the full three points.

Dimitar Berbatov was the main culprit. This sorry excuse for a striker missed three point blank shots on goal. Berbatov should join the mason for he is better at making bricks than goals.

This tie may have surely cost Man U a shot at the historic four peat.

You can sum up Man U’s performance in two words- you stink.

Nil-nil ties were the order of the day.

Liverpool had a chance to stay within striking distance of Man City but no the Reds blew it big time at home in Anfield. Liverpool and Fulham tied nil-nil.

Sure big time scorer Fernando Torres was absent but jeez give me a break will someone step to the plate and find the back of net.

Not on this day.

Liverpool dominated play but what good does that do if you can’t hit pay dirt.

You can stick a fork in the Reds chances of returning to the Champions League.

Manchester City took care of business against Birmingham winning 5-1.

Emmanuel Adebayor hit the daily double-43rd and 88th minutes.

Carlos Tevez scored via the PK route in the 43rd minute.

Mate Nedum Onuoha had the twin kill as well too- 40th and 73rd minutes.

Wolves and Stoke City kissed their sister nada-nada.

Manchester City now has a four-point lead over Tottenham in the race for fourth place in the EPL.

Man City has 62 points. Tottenham has 58 with a game in hand. Spurs take on my guys from Arsenal on Wednesday.

We need a huge “W” just like Tottenham does.

Do you believe in miracles?

You are not going to believe this. Send em packing from the EPL Pompey pulled a huge upset 2-0 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup semis.

Portsmouth needed extra time to score twice to send the Spurs packing.

Frederick Piquionne ripped the twines in the 99th minute.
Mate Kevin –Prince Boateng added a PK in the 117th minute to send Pompey to the finals of the FA Cup where they will face Chelsea.
