Lot’s of great futebol going on south of the border.

Santos battles Cerro Porteno in the first leg in the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores.

This puppy will be played in Peixe’s house in Sao Paulo.

Santos has one of the best young players in world Neymar.

The second leg will be play in Assuncao, Paraguay.

Peixe is the only remaining Brasileiro side left in the competition.

On Thursday, Penarol battles Velez Sarsfield in Montevidéu, Uruguay.

One Uruguay side, one Paraguay side, one Argentinos side, and Brasileiro side have made it to the final four.

In the Argentinos Clausura, Velez Sarsfield is in the pole position with 30 points.

Second place belongs to Godoy Cruz with 27.

Third place has Lanus with 26.

Fourth place finds Olimpo with 25 points.

River Plate is in fifth place with 23.

Boca is holding steady in 9th place with 22 points.

El Fortin defeated Gimnasia 2-0.

Los Millionaires and San Lorenzo tied one all.

Los Xeneizes and Arsenal de Sarandi tied two all.

Let games begin.

Saturday is the big day.

Man U-Barcelona battle for the Champions League crown.

The last time these two sides met in the final Barca had their way with Sir Alex and his guys 2-0.

Will Saturday be a repeat of this?

It could well be.

The Barca cheaters have one of the best players in the world Lionel Messi. His wing mates are David Villa, Pedro, and Xavi.

Camp Nou has a ton of team speed.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford have Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, and Chicharito.

This should be a great one.

The Red Devils are playing in their house Wembley.

Will this make a difference?

It could.

The cheaters from Barca should win.

But don’t count out Sir Alex.

He has many tricks in his bag of tricks.

Pepe is a master também.

Man U was absolute control of this sucker from the outset. Sir Alex and the boys secured a clean sheet against Fulham.

The score line 2-0 Red Devils win.

Goals by Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia were all the mighty boys from Old Trafford needed to get the big “W”.

Sure there was some tight moments for the Man U “D” but Vidic and the guys were able to slam the door shut.

Berbatov’s goal brings his league-leading total to 21.

Man U is still in the pole position with 69 points.

Everton took care of business. The Toffees destroyed lowly Wolverhampton 3-0.

Stick a fork in Wolves.

The heave-hoe zone has booked Wolves reservation.

The Blues kept their faint hopes of a repeat alive with a 1-0 win over bottom feeder Wigan.

A late goal Florent Malouda in the 67th minute was the difference.

Spurs defeated Stoke City 3-2.

Chelsea moves up to third place with 58 points.

Spurs stays in fifth place with 53 points.

City is in fourth place with 56 points.

Man City has a huge match with Liverpool later on Sunday at Anfield.

City needs to win this sucker if they want to move back into third place.

My guys from Arsenal battle Blackpool later on Sunday também.

Let the fun games continue.

Once again, the mighty boys from Old Trafford came up firing blanks in the first leg of the Champions League knockout stage.

Man U and Marseille tied nil-nil.

Man U can play great one time and stink the joint out the next.

Sir Alex and his guys used their top line of Rooney, Berbatov, and Nani.

Sure, the Red Devils had their chances but they couldn’t dent the back of the net.

The only saving grace was Man U’s defense.

Vidic and the boys had a stellar performance.

Missing from the back line was Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs.

Still a tie is better than a loss.

An away goal from the Red Devils would have been good but not on this day.

The second leg is at Old Trafford on March 15th.

Sir Alex had this to say about the tie- I think it was very lucky. The referee’s in a good position and I don’t know why he didn’t give us a free-kick and then the decision is straightforward – it’s a red card.”

On his teams performance-”On our ground we will be much better. Scoring away from home is always important and we didn’t do that tonight.

“You always worry at this stage of the season because there are no bad teams left in the competition, but we will have two or three players back and, whilst we won’t be taking anything for granted, this result is fine.

”Marseille made sure they did not lose. It was a poor game for the spectators. Nothing happened.”

About Rooney’s play- He did what we wanted him to do,” he said. “The way we normally set up, with Nani or Ryan Giggs on the left, gives us more natural width, but Wayne worked hard, as he always does.

“He has great spirit but he was better when we played him through the middle in a 4-4-2 at the end.”

This wasn’t a great performance but it will pass.

Finally, we are into the finals of the Carling Cup. My gunners defeated Ipswich 3-0.

It was deadlocked nil-nil until the 61st minute.

Nicklas Bendtner’s hard work and great individual effort paid off.

Bendtner ripped the twines to give us Gunners a 1-0 lead then the London Bridge came tumbling down on the Tractor Boys.

Laurent Koscielny and Cesc Fabregas followed suit in the 64th and 77thminute to send Ipswich packing and lift Arsenal to the Promised Land.

The Tractor Boys didn’t quit.

They gave it all they had but in the end, our guys from Arsenal were too strong.

Now if  we can covert this into a trophy the EPL crown could be ours também.

Wenger had this to say about the win- I get the same question every time, so I say ‘we try to win everything we can’, but on the other hand it can more get the pressure off the team to deliver in the other competitions,” Wenger said.

“It is not the only target we have of the season, we have even bigger targets, but it can help us to achieve the other targets.

“What I am convinced is we will go with the same heart for everything. We have a chance to deliver, but it will be down to delivering the needed performance on the day. That is part of mental strength as well.”

Arsene Wenger added this about the Tractor Boys resolve- “The players were really up for it and focused. We needed to be patient, calm and mature – and you have to credit Ipswich as they defended with great spirit.

“It means a lot for the team and they deserve to be rewarded for a fantastic attitude.”

Talk about pulling a win from the jaws of defeat Man U was trailing 2-0 until late in the second half. Then Buda Bing Buda boom three goals in the final twenty-minutes to defeat Blackpool 3-2.

What did I tell ya about the Seasiders being a tough out at home.

Dimitar Berbatov hit the daily lotto twice to lead the comeback.

Super Mex Javier Hernandez added a tally as well to complete the rally.

A loss would have severely hurt Sir Alex and the guys shot at winning the whole enchilada.

Manchester United increased its lead to five points over my Gunners and six over City.

The Red Devils have 51 points.

Arsenal is 2nd with 46 and City 3rd with 45.

Sir Alex had this to say about the heart stopping comeback win over Blackpool- “In the first half we were battered and we couldn’t handle Charlie Adam,” Ferguson said. “But in the end we ran out deserved winners. Hernandez’s pace and timing of the runs are fantastic. He could have scored four goals.”

Finally, we kicked ass and took names. Robin Van Persie had the hat trick. The only bad thing about his performance was a missed gimmie PK in the 71st minute other than what can ya say.

My Gunners should have put this sucker outta sight by halftime but such was not the case.

What did I say peeper the goal with shots and eventually the goal would come tumbling down.

RVP gave Arsenal the early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.

Alex Song made the final pass into the box.

All Robin Van Persie had to do was deposit this baby into the back of the net.

Count em nine passes that set up the goal by RVP.

This was classic futebol.

My guys from Arsenal fired 24 shots on the net.

Ten of them were on goal.

This win gives us 46 points.

Manchester United was total form when they took on Birmingham.

Sir Alex and the guys destroyed the Blues 5-0.

Dimitar Berbatov had a hat trick.

This is Berbatov’s third hat trick of the year.

He tied Ruud Van Nistelrooy for most hat tricks in a season.

Finally Berbatov is doing was he was supposed to do when he was signed two years ago.

Score!

Ryan Giggs and Nani added their names to the scorer’s sheet também.

This was a total blow out by the Red Devils.

If this were a fight, it would have been stopped in the first round.

Man U came out breathing fire.

The boys from Old Trafford have 48 points.

Dimitar Berbatov now has ripped the twines 17 times.

He is top dog in the chase for the golden boot.

Tottenham and Toons tied one all.

This tie may have cost Spurs a shot at the title.

Tottenham will remain in fourth place with 38 points.

A funny thing happen on the way to to keep pace with Man U for Man City Aston Villa.

Villa defeated City 1-0.

Darren Bent scored the match winner in the 18th minute.

Man U is top dog with 48 points.

My guys from Arsenal are second with 46.

City is third with 45.

Manchester United and Valencia tied one all in the final match of the group stage.

Anderson’s knocked home the rebound in the 62nd minute to lift the Red Devils to a one all tie after they fell behind 1-0 early in the match.

Pablo put Valencia on top in the 32nd minute.

Anderson was the unlikely hero of the match for Man U.

Park Ji-Sung rocket went flying off of Valencia keeper Vicente Guaita. Guaita blocked the shot.

Shot. Rebound. Score.

Game, set and tie for the mighty boys from Old Trafford.

The faithful at Old Trafford were worried until Anderson’s put back saved the day.

The Wayne man is regaining his old form.

Rooney nearly had a goal in the 36th minute but he missed by that much.

Man U is top dog in Group C.

It is on to the next round for the Red Devils.

Sir Alex had this to say about the Wayne man.

“Absolutely, he did very well again tonight,” the United boss told Sky Sports. “His distribution, his leading of the line and his workrate were outstanding tonight. He’s getting there, and he’s getting there quickly.”

Ferguson had this to say about the Rooney Berbatov tandem- We’ve seen flashes of it. Maybe not as much as against Blackburn, for instance, but Berba tonight could have scored another five. He’s been unlucky not to score tonight.”

Spurs and Twente Enschede tied at three all.

Tottenham is top dog in Group A.

Jermain Defoe hit the daily double for Spurs in the 47th and 59th minutes.

The difference in the match was Twente Enschede’s own goal by Peter Wisgerhof in the 12th minute.

Spurs are on the next round também.

Tottenham can score but they can’t defend worth a crap. Harry me boy Redknapp had this to say about his sides feast on scoring and sieve like “D”- You can’t have it all ways. You either play that way or you play with one striker. We’ve gone for it, we have a go. We look to score and we look to attack teams at every opportunity. We’re open.

“I feel we’ve got to play people who can score and people who can hurt teams and that’s how we’ve approached the games. And, at the end of the day, we’ve finished top of the group.

“You can’t say ‘Well they’ve conceded goals’; we’ve scored more goals than anybody. If you want us to shut up shop, we can do that and come away and be difficult to beat and stick five across midfield. But we don’t; we come away and have a go.”

The EPL is two for two moving on to the next round.

Man U is perfect on the road. The mighty boys from Old Trafford have no wins, no losses, and four ties on the road this season.

Man U and Sunderland ended in nil-nil tie at the Stadium of Light.

Edwin van de Sar made a key save in the 16th minute to preserve the scoreless sheet.

Bolo Zenden hit the post in the 82nd minute. Almost, coulda, woulda but not on this day.

Dimitar Berbatov nailed a winner but the zebras called him for offsides.

Man U is living dangerously on the road.

Sir Alex didn’t start his best side.

Rooney and Berbatov didn’t start.

Rooney didn’t play at all.

Michael Owen and Nani were the only real strikers.

Rio Ferdinand was back to anchor the “D”.

Something is a miss here. Man U is sitting back and depending on the “D” to win the day.

At some point in time, this tactic will bite the Red Devils in the butt.

The point pulls Man U to within two points of Chelsea.

Tottenham defeated Aston Villa 2-1.

Rafael Van der Vaart hit for the daily double to lead Spurs to the all-important win at home- White Hart Lane.

Everton finally picked up win.

The Toffees defeated Birmingham 2-0.

Wigan picked a huge 2-0 win over Wolverhampton.

The Lactics moved up to 13th place.

Wigan has eight points.

There are some huge matches on Sunday.

My guys from Arsenal takes on Chelsea.

Man City battles Newcastle.

Liverpool has a date with Blackpool.

When the dust settles on Sunday, we will see how the table will shake out.

Finally, that waste of a striker Dimitar Berbatov did what he was paid to do. Score goals. Berbatov hit the hat trick to lead Man U past a stubborn Liverpool squad.

The Red Devils defeated the Reds 3-2.

This was a huge win for the mighty boys from Old Trafford.

A tie or a loss could have stuck a fork in Man U’s title hopes.

Man U was up to their old tricks again.

The Red Devils jumped to 2-0 lead before Steven Gerrard nailed a PK in the 64th minute and then added a deft strike in the 70th minute to level this sucker at two all.

Enter Dimitar Berbatov in the 84th minute to save the day for Man U.

This is a very disturbing trend for Sir Alex and his boys.

The Red Devils have squandered three leads against Everton, Fulham, and Liverpool.

This baby almost bit them in the butt.

The last time Liverpool won the EPL was 1990.

The Reds are retooling.

This rebuilding effort may last for a while.

If Man U can get Wayne Rooney on track, the Red Devils will be a top-flight club instead of very good.

Man City picked a huge win 2-0 against Wigan.

The Lactics are in the shits.

Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure ripped the twines for City.

Chelsea took care of business at Home-Stamford Bridge.

The Blues destroyed Blackpool 4-0.

Florent Malouda hit for the daily double.

Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou tickled the twines too.

The Seasiders never had a chance.

This was Blackpool’s first loss of the season.

Chelsea is top dog with 15 points.

My guys from Arsenal are in the second spot with 11 points.

Manchester United is third with 11 but my Gunners have a plus 10 compared with the Red Devils plus seven goal difference.

Both Man City and Tottenham have eight points but City is a plus four while Spurs are a plus two.

A few quick observations about the EPL as we head into a two week break.

Chelsea has not given up a goal in three matches.

The Blues are top dogs but they haven’t played anyone yet.

Chelsea has beaten up on the weak sisters of the EPL Wigan, Stoke City, and West Brom.

Two out of three sides are one step above stink.

Stoke City stinks down right bad.

My guys from Arsenal should have lost to Liverpool the opening weekend but we pulled out a great tie.

We picked up an all-important road win.

The big surprise is the way Theo Walcott is ripping the twines.

Walcott has scored big time (four goals) in three matches.

This is huge for the Gunner nation.

Andrei Arshavin has scored twice.

With RVP hurt, this means the young cats are stepping up to the plate big time.

Lets see how this plays out through the rest of the season.

Manchester United is loaded with talent and team speed.

The Red Devils are greased lightening.

The only stumble so far is a tie against Fulham.

The Cottagers have a habit of driving Sir Alex and the boy’s nuts.

The second week draw proves my point.

Fulham came back twice to tie this sucker up.

The big surprise is Dimitar Berbatov has two goals.

If he can continue to score, Man U will be unreal.

Tottenham losing to lowly Wigan was a shocker.

Spurs are in above their heads.

Tottenham will finish mid table.

Man City is team full of head cases.

City has great talent but ten-cent brains.

Mancini will struggle to find continuity with Man City.

City will finish just outside the money.

Villa looks strong.

Aston Villa will finish in the top six.

Liverpool is on the downhill slide.

The Reds will in the lower half of the table.

Newcastle will stay up n the EPL.

The Magpies have a chip on their shoulders.

Toons have a point to prove.

Newcastle might challenge for a Europa spot.

We’ll talk more about EPL later.

These are off the cuff remarks.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford had a chance to move to the top of the table in the EPL. But no, Man U stunk the joint out on the road in a nil-nil tie with Blackburn.

The Red Devils had at least ten chances to get the full three points.

Dimitar Berbatov was the main culprit. This sorry excuse for a striker missed three point blank shots on goal. Berbatov should join the mason for he is better at making bricks than goals.

This tie may have surely cost Man U a shot at the historic four peat.

You can sum up Man U’s performance in two words- you stink.

Nil-nil ties were the order of the day.

Liverpool had a chance to stay within striking distance of Man City but no the Reds blew it big time at home in Anfield. Liverpool and Fulham tied nil-nil.

Sure big time scorer Fernando Torres was absent but jeez give me a break will someone step to the plate and find the back of net.

Not on this day.

Liverpool dominated play but what good does that do if you can’t hit pay dirt.

You can stick a fork in the Reds chances of returning to the Champions League.

Manchester City took care of business against Birmingham winning 5-1.

Emmanuel Adebayor hit the daily double-43rd and 88th minutes.

Carlos Tevez scored via the PK route in the 43rd minute.

Mate Nedum Onuoha had the twin kill as well too- 40th and 73rd minutes.

Wolves and Stoke City kissed their sister nada-nada.

Manchester City now has a four-point lead over Tottenham in the race for fourth place in the EPL.

Man City has 62 points. Tottenham has 58 with a game in hand. Spurs take on my guys from Arsenal on Wednesday.

We need a huge “W” just like Tottenham does.

Do you believe in miracles?

You are not going to believe this. Send em packing from the EPL Pompey pulled a huge upset 2-0 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup semis.

Portsmouth needed extra time to score twice to send the Spurs packing.

Frederick Piquionne ripped the twines in the 99th minute.
Mate Kevin –Prince Boateng added a PK in the 117th minute to send Pompey to the finals of the FA Cup where they will face Chelsea.
