What did you expect? Chopped liver. Barca is the best side in the world. Man U sorta put up a fight when Rooney dialed up a bomb in the 34th minute but it was too little too late.

The cheaters from Barca won 3-1.

What did I tell ya?

The Catalans had way too much power.

Barcelona’s three-headed monster of Messi, Villa, and Pedro was too much for Sir Alex and the boys.

Man U hung in there as long as they could.

The Catalans struck first in the 27th minute. Pedro flat out beat Van Der Sar short shelf right.

Van Der Sar never had a chance.

Rooney nailed the equalizer in the 34th minute.

Messi faked right went left. He stopped and popped a laser in the 54th minute to give the cheaters from Barca 2-1.

Villa added the final nail in the coffin in the 69th minute.

Game, set, and match to The Catalans.

The final score was closer than the match actually was.

Barca sliced and diced their way through the Man U “D” with ease.

What bugs me is this.

What in the name of Hades, is Fox using the idiots Eric Wynalda, Brad Friedel, and Curt Menefee?

This folks are clowns.

Then using Michael Strahan as a futebol expert? Are you Nuts? Give me a freakin break.

This must have a joke.

Not.

Barca made Sir Alex and his boys look like schoolboys.

This gives the Catalans two wins in three years over the Red Devils in the Champions League Final.

American futebol broadcasts are a joke.

No wonder the world laughs at us when we broadcast the World Cup or the Champions League.

This is what the entire futebol world is waiting for. This is the clash of the titans. Man U takes on the cheaters from Barcelona.

The Rede Devils and Camp Nou has been the top two-futebol clubs for well over twenty-five years.

Pepe and Sir Alex know the world of mind games.

Both men are experts.

It will come down to this.

Can Sir Alex and the boys contain and control the three-headed Barca monster of Messi, Pedro, and David Villa?

Pepe Guardiola said this about if his Barcelona side is the best ever- “I don’t think so. When the people are watching this team if they enjoy we are happy, but we have to respect Brazil, Milan, Liverpool, Manchester or even Madrid for the best moments.

“It is difficult to compare, it is for example to say who is better – Pele, Maradona, Messi or Beckenbauer, all these kind of players in the right moment help to make football better than before.”

“What would we like, in the coming 10-15 years people remember that in that time Barcelona played good football and we enjoyed that time when we saw that would be the best thing, but to say right now is impossible.”

When asked about the mighty boys from Old Trafford Pepe said-

I think Manchester United in the last 10, 15, 20 years is always at the top, always compete very well in the Premier League and they have three times out of the last four years in the final of the Champions League.

“When I saw the Manchester United team two years ago my view, my impression, was it was a strong, strong team.

Man U and Barca met in the 2009 Champions league Finals.

The Spanish lads won 2-0.

Man U has great “D”.

Let’s see how Edwin Van der Sar can hold up against the Barca pressure.

Man U has three good scorers in Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, and the newest sensation Javier Hernandez.

Pepe said this about Chicharito-

”He’s a huge surprise, he’s amazing. He’s amazing when arriving in the area. He has incredible movement without the ball. Manchester United have bought an enormous young talent. I am convinced that he will be an important player for the next few years at United.”

Sir Alex blew the idea that the match will come down to dead ball situations- “What advantage is that?” Ferguson said in response to questions about United’s supposed height advantage. “I don’t see that, I don’t think it is correct. We have these two here [Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic] and Michael Carrick, that’s it. “They have [Sergio] Busquets, [Gerard] Pique, possibly [Eric] Abidal. So, I don’t see that as an advantage at all. They also have [Carles] Puyol who is a very determined defender so I don’t see it as an advantage.

“I don’t think it will come down to that, it will come down to what happens in general open play.”

About the 2009 final against Barca-

“I think we are as well prepared as we can be,” Ferguson said. “In terms of big games if we perform well we have a chance.

“We are much more mature. In terms of [Wayne] Rooney’s progress, he is much more mature than he was in 2009. And other players too. The experience of [Ferdinand and Vidic] are vital to us. I think the experience of progressing in Europe gives us a good chance.

“It is going to be difficult for both teams. Barcelona have fantastic qualities and I think our qualities will shine through too and that I think will bring a good game.”

Sir Alex said they use the time off to prepare- “We did most of the work before the Blackpool game and winning the league the previous week helped us that way. The players they have to trust themselves and trust each other because I trust them,” he added.

All in all, I am looking forward to watching this puppy on the tube.

It should be a good one.

Barca wins 3-1.

Why?

Camp Nou has too much firepower.

Lot’s of great futebol going on south of the border.

Santos battles Cerro Porteno in the first leg in the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores.

This puppy will be played in Peixe’s house in Sao Paulo.

Santos has one of the best young players in world Neymar.

The second leg will be play in Assuncao, Paraguay.

Peixe is the only remaining Brasileiro side left in the competition.

On Thursday, Penarol battles Velez Sarsfield in Montevidéu, Uruguay.

One Uruguay side, one Paraguay side, one Argentinos side, and Brasileiro side have made it to the final four.

In the Argentinos Clausura, Velez Sarsfield is in the pole position with 30 points.

Second place belongs to Godoy Cruz with 27.

Third place has Lanus with 26.

Fourth place finds Olimpo with 25 points.

River Plate is in fifth place with 23.

Boca is holding steady in 9th place with 22 points.

El Fortin defeated Gimnasia 2-0.

Los Millionaires and San Lorenzo tied one all.

Los Xeneizes and Arsenal de Sarandi tied two all.

Let games begin.

Saturday is the big day.

Man U-Barcelona battle for the Champions League crown.

The last time these two sides met in the final Barca had their way with Sir Alex and his guys 2-0.

Will Saturday be a repeat of this?

It could well be.

The Barca cheaters have one of the best players in the world Lionel Messi. His wing mates are David Villa, Pedro, and Xavi.

Camp Nou has a ton of team speed.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford have Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, and Chicharito.

This should be a great one.

The Red Devils are playing in their house Wembley.

Will this make a difference?

It could.

The cheaters from Barca should win.

But don’t count out Sir Alex.

He has many tricks in his bag of tricks.

Pepe is a master também.

I still pissed as hell over what happened at Camp Nou. There needs to be an investigation into the shitty refereeing in Arsenal-Barcelona Champions League second leg in Barca.

This match was fixed.

The ref was paid off.

Barca players are dirty cheats.

Robin Van Persie said it right- If there were four, five, six seconds in between, you can make a check [for offside]. One second, it’s a joke.

“It’s just a joke. He’s been bad all evening. He’s been a joke all evening, whistling against us. I don’t know why he’s here tonight. I think it’s a joke.”

“We feel betrayed a bit. When it was 1-1, it was all to play for, and in my opinion the ref killed the game.”

FIFA can fine the guys all they want but the truth is this was bush league refereeing. It is as plain and simple as that.

Piss a bitch guys don’t shut up.

Bring to light that the refs are a joke.

This isn’t South America for crying out loud.

If you want bad refereeing, go to a Boca match.

The refs want Boca to win.

Hey, I have an idea- lets let eight year olds ref.

They can do better than the clown Massimo Busacca.

This fool should never work again.

Fire his ass now.

The so-called experts at ESPN the joke network are blaming the loss on Wenger.

In short, the joke ESPN is bunch of blow hards.

Wenger decided what was the best way to win considering Barca has three of the best strikers in the business- Messi, Pedro, and David Villa.

What do you expect?

The Gunners to play balls to the wall futebol.

Are you freakin crazy.

It would 5-0 both at our house and theirs.

The refs decision was the factor for 3-1 defeat.

When the equalizer came in the 56th minute, this sucker was anyone’s match to win.

Busacca was paid to give Barca the win.

The fix was in.

I don’t have a problem with a fair and square blow out city or a close loss but to have the idiot ref give it to one side or another-give me a freakin break.

Enough on that atrocity already.

Tottenham hung on for nil-nil draw with AC Milan to advance on 1-0 aggregate.

Milan had most of the possessions but the Spurs played solid “D” to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Harry “Me Boy” Redknapp showed he can handle the pressure of competing at the top level.

Way to go garoto.

Let’s make this as simple as possible. I will write this puppy from the eyes of the fan and analyst.

From the out set it looked like Barca was in complete control.

Arsenal was a step slow.

The Gunners couldn’t mount an attack.

It sure looked like Barcelona would win 4-0 or worse.

When Villa scored in the 26th minute I thought this sucker is over.

RVP missed two really good scoring opportunities in the first half and I knew this was going to be a long match for Arsenal.

The only thing saving Arsenal was the offsides that cancelled the second goal and the Gunners quick counter attack.

We were fortunate to be only down 1-0 at half.

The Gunners showed signs of life in the first half.

One was the outstanding play of keeper Szczesny and the defense of Eboue, Koscielny, and Djourou.

The second was the lightening quick counter attacks staged by Jack Wilshere, Cesc Fabregas, and Robin Van Persie.

Arsenal seemed out of sorts and intimidated by Barcelona and their star power Messi, Pedro, and Villa.

The second half was a different story.

Barca’s passing game and quickness disappeared due to Wenger and the gang pressing the attack and using their quick passing game to disrupt Barcelona’s vaunted attacking style.

Instead of panicking, the Gunners remained calm.

This paid handsome dividends when RVP scored that brilliant short post goal in the 78th minute.

This goal was the result of the consistent pressure applied by RVP, Jack Wilshere. Cesc Fabregas, and company.

The second was the result of a steal and quick counter attack up the pitch that resulted in the gimmie goal by Andrei Arshavin.

Arshavin had several close calls with the back of the net.

This pressing style and quick counter attacks expose Barca backside “D”.

Camp Nou has great attackers but their “D” is suspect.

During the match, my emotions ran the gamete from despair to joy and every emotion in between.

I was impressed with Barca’s team speed.

Yet, in the second half they seemed a step slow.

Sure Barca had a chance to score the equalizer late but keeper Szczesny and Eboue sniffed out the chance and stopped it cold.

The second leg will be a wild match.

Messi and company will press the attack and force Arsenal to defend.

Barca is good at creating two on one and three on one attacking situations.

Messi, Pedro, and Villa had at four chances in the first half of the match at Emirates.

Barca only connected on one of them.

The Gunners defense will be tested again in spades.

This is FA Cup weekend and we’ll talk about the oldest cup competition on Sunday.

It sure looked like my guys from Arsenal were going to get blown out by the mighty Barcelona guys.

My heart was in my throat when David Villa blasted a close range bomb that found its mark in the 26th minute.

Barca had it pedal to the medal.

We had several really good chances but Arsenal couldn’t crack the code.

Instead of quitting the guys took the game by the scruff of the net and pressed the attack.

The dividends paid off handsomely in the second half.

Robin Van Persie found a crease between the keeper’s left hand and the short post.

Whamo bamo the ball finds it destination in the 77th minute.

The match winner came in the 83rd minute.

Jack Wilshere set it up with a great pass to mate Cesc Fabregas. Then it was Katie bar the door.

We are off to the races.

Andrei Arshavin nailed it to give Gunner nation a huge 2-1 win over invincible Barcelona.

Game, set, and match to Arsenal.

This was a huge win for us.

Now the Gunners are in the drivers seat for the second leg.

Barca and Arsenal will play March 8th at Camp Nou.

Arsene Wenger said about the second leg- Tonight’s result gives us a chance to go to Barcelona with belief. We know it will be a very difficult game but we will prepare well. We will be highly focused and we go to win our game. It is a special lift for my team. Our players have shown exceptional strength tonight and togetherness. This will enforce that.

This was Arsene Wenger’s first win against Barcelona.

The headman had this to say about the “W”- I am highly delighted because it was a special football match. The game promised a lot and absolutely fulfilled the promises between two exceptional football teams who always try to play. We were not only strong on the physical side but on the mental side, we kept resilient. We took advantage of one special piece of skill from Van Persie and the goal for the second was after some good build-up play. It was a special night. When we suffered, the fans were still very positive.

Tottenham picked a huge first leg away 1-0 win over AC Milan.

Peter Crouch nailed the match winner in the 80th minute.

He unleashed a blast from 12 yards out to seal the deal for Harry me Boy Redknapp and his Spurs chargers.

Champions League is back in action this week. My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with super team Barcelona.

This puppy will take place at our house-Emirates.

Wenger had this to say about the upcoming super battle on Wednesday- “I believe, if we manage to get them under pressure, we will create chances,” says the manager.

“Ideally that is something we can work on before the game. Sometimes you have that extra special focus in these kind of games which makes you more efficient, so hopefully we have that.

“The question at the Nou Camp you can wonder is will we change the way we play? But here [at Emirates Stadium], we will try to play to our strengths. We will try to attack the other team.

“If we play in the final third defensively, we will not only be happy, it will not be our game.”

The head guy said the guys must be in great shape também- Personally I believe we go into the Barcelona game in better shape than last year and Robin is part of that,” said the Arsenal manager.

“We had many uncertainties [last year], the team for me had less confidence. Now we have matured better and we can certainly compete technically better with them.

“In the first game last season, Robin was injured, Gallas went off at half time, Arshavin went off after 15 minutes while Song and Fabregas [didn’t play] in the second game. We are in a better shape this time.”

“They are not just good at attacking, they also defend very well and for us it will be very important to get out of their pressure.

“If we can get out of that pressure then I think we can be dangerous so for us we have to think about what we do and how we do it.”

Barca has Lionel Messi, David Villa, and Pedro as their strikers. Messi is the golden boot leader 24 goals in 23 matches.

This is totally unreal.

Messi is on fire.

His mates Villa has 15 and Pedro has 12.

This is 51 of the 71 total goals this year.

Unreal folks.

The Gunners will have their hands full.

“D” must be at a premium.

Gunner nation rules.

The Dutch have made to the World Cup Finals. This marks the first time the Netherlands have made to the Word Cup Finals since 1978.

The Dutch lost Argentina in the 1978 finals.

Netherlands beat Uruguay 3-2.

The Dutch drew first blood when Giovanni Van Bronckhorst nailed a long  range missile in the 18th minute.

Uruguay tied this baby up one all in the 40th minute. Forlan hit the sweet spot in the back of the net off a deadly free kick from 25 yards out.

Uruguay put a strong fight against the mighty Dutch for most of the match.

Goals by Wesley Sneijder in the 70th minute and Arjen Robben in the 73rd minute broke wide open a one all match.

Sure, Uruguay added a cosmetic goal by Maxi Pereira in the 90th minute to make it a respectable 3-2.

The Uruguayans had two really good chances in the 93rd minute but missed it by that much.

The Netherlands has never won the World Cup.

With they finally break into the win column?

We will find out Sunday.

Germany-Spain will be played later today.

This will be a classic.

Germany is going for their fourth World Cup while Spain has never made this far.

The Germans last won the title in 1990.

Spain has lots of talent but nothing to show for it.

Will Cesc Fabregas, Xavi Hernandez, David Villa, and Fernando Torres.

Germany has the pedigree.

Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, and Phillip Lahm will provide lots of trouble for the Spanish.

These two teams met in the European championship.

Spain won.

Oh, where have you gone Cristiano Ronaldo? We know that you didn’t show up at the World Cup.

This clown is the most expensive futebol player in the world yet he has only ripped twines once.

This stinks bad boy.

No wonder my fellow Brasileiros call you the fake Ronaldo. The real Ronaldo can still score even though he is fat and out of shape.

Ronaldo is the top scorer in World Cup history with 15.

Cristiano at this rate it will take you 100 years to reach 15.

The bad news Spain defeated Portugal 1-0.

Instead of attack, Portugal sat back and played defense.

Spain had a 2-1 edge in possession.

David Villa received a great back-healed pass from mate Xavi Hernandez. Shot. Block. Save. Rebound. Shot. Score.

Villa’s rebound of his own shot in the 63rd minute was the difference in the match.

I don’t get this game plan employed by Portugal.

You have a guy who can rip the twines and you don’t use him.

Jeez, let the fake Ronaldo have a whack at the Spanish “D”.

If you are going to lose, at least go down swinging.

But, hey what do I know I’m just a blogger.

Spain is on to the next round where they will take on Paraguay who beat Japan in a 5-3 PK shoot out win.

Both sides were tied nil-nil after 120 minutes of hard-nosed futebol.

Paraguay had most of the possession but they Paraguayans couldn’t crack the code.

This match up should be a good one.

So far, Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay, and Uruguay have advanced to the quarterfinals.

Only Chile didn’t make it because Brasil kicked their butts.

I am looking forward to a Brasil-Argentina final.

I told my friend Robert, who works at Jons in Van Nuys, CA, that I expected to see a Brasil-Argentina final.

So far so good.
