Fluminense gave up a late goal to Mexican side America. Flu lost 1-0 on the road at Azteca Stadium and now is in danger of not making it out of Group play in the Copa Libertadores.

Daniel Marquez Palacios nailed the match winner in the 75^th minute.

Flu currently is in third place after three matches.

Fluminense has two points.

This is one step above stink.

Argentinos Juniors is top dog with seven points.

America is in second place with six points.

Flu has three matches left and they realistically need to run the table to make to out of group play.

Santos didn’t fair much better either.

Peixe and Cerro Porteri tied one all.

Santos is in third place with two points after two matches.

At least Peixe is not outta touch with the leaders Cerro Porteri.

Cerro Porteri has four points.

Second place belongs to Colo Colo with three points.

At least Gremio, Internacional, and Cruzeiro are holding up Brasileiros pride.

This is only the start so anything can happen.

Flu is the club that is in the most danger so far with three matches remaining.

Internacional is the defending 2010 Copa Champion and Colorado became the first South American side not to make to the FIFA World Club Championship finals.

It’s all over but the shouting. Fluminense took care of business in Rio de Janeiro. Flu defeated Guarani 1-0. Emerson nailed a perfect strike for Fluminense in the 61^st minute to seal the deal.

This was Fluminense’s first title since 1984.

Way to go garoto.

It took Po-de-arroz 26 years to get their second trophy.

All of Rio de Janeiro is happy.

Except for us Flamenguistas, we had a crappy season. Flamengo finished close to the drop-dead zone.

Mengao finished in 14^th place with 44 points.

This season was a total blowout after Rubro-Negro surprised everyone winning the 20089 Campeonato.

Way to dodge a huge bullet guys. Mengao stunk the joint out in a 2-1 loss to Cruzeiro at Volta Redondo. It sure looked like we were in danger of getting the heave-hoe. Not this year. Flamengo is safe for now.

This is a must win for Flamengo. We are on the verge of getting the heave-hoe. Rubro-Negro is currently in 13^th place with 40 points.

We are only three points outta the drop-dead zone.

Flamengo is pretty good on the road.

Rubro-Negro has nine wins and only three losses on the road.

Our home record sucks big time.

Eleven losses and only six wins have killed us all season.

Usually Mengao is almost impossible to beat at home.

Flamengo is akin to the EPL side Arsenal.

My Gunners sink at home and are great on the road.

Both sides are mirror images of each other except that my Gunners are contenting for a title while my Flamengo heart is getting stomped on.

I am not a happy Flamenguista.

Vitoria battles Internacional.

This is way off the pace for the Campeonato.

Lot’s of fun stuff to talk about today.

Lets start with the Campeonato.

Fluminense is top dog with 61 points. Second place belongs to Corinthians with 60 points. Sitting in third place is Cruzeiro with 60 points também. Timao has a better goal difference. Corinthians has a plus 21 while Raposa is a plus 12.

Mengao is buried in 13^th place with 40. Flamengo is a perfect zero goal difference yet this is a deceiving number.

In our last four matches, Rubro-Negro has given up five goals while scoring only four.

This is a minus one.

Flamengo “D’ has been suspect all year. At times Mengao has looked great while times we looked like a machine gun riddled body.

Marcelo Lomba has taken over for super keeper Bruno in June of this year. Bruno is the hoosegow for murder. Lomba is good but he ain’t no Bruno.

Bruno was bad at times but he could flat out play keeper.

Flamengo sorely misses the murdering bastard.

There are four matches left in the season.

Our title hopes are dead but we need to win two out of our last four matches to avoid the drop-dead zone.

Up on Saturday is Atletico-MG at Galo’s house in Mineiro.

Galo is one-step above the voce vai zone.

Atletico-MG has 36 points.

A win would give Galo 39 points.

Santos took care of business and beat Internacional 1-0.

Up and coming Brasileiros superstar Neymar ripped the twines in the 26^th minute to give Peixe the win.

Neymar took it to the rack. He weaved right and then left. Neymar beat three defenders and placed the ball near the left post past a dumbfound keeper.

This was a big win for Santos.

Neymar is slowly becoming the next superstar of Brasileiros futebol.

Colorado was made to look really stupid by Neymar’s great individual play.

Corinthians stunk the joint out in a 2-0 loss to Vasco.

Ze Roberto and Eder Luis ripped the twines for Gigante da Colina.

This was a huge loss for Timao.

A victory for Corinthians would have moved them into a second place tie with Fluminense.

Now Timao is in third place with 49 points.

Vasco has moved up to 10^th place with 41 points.

Flamengo is sitting in 13^th place with 34 points.

Internacional has dropped to fourth place with 47 points.

Cruzeiro is top dog with 54 points.

Fluminense is in second place with 52 big ones.

No striker and no “D” make for a long season.

You hire and fire coaches until the cows come home but if you don’t have the players, guess what? You lose.

We are now in 14^th place with 21 points.

At this rate, Rubro-Negro will wind up at the butt end of the table by mid September.

Cruzeiro completely outplayed Flamengo.

Sobrando física e taticamente, o time mineiro perdeu um caminhão de gols e acabou vencendo “apenas” por 1 a 0, no Parque do Sabiá, em Uberlândia. Harry Redknapp and the boys from Tottenham are finding out how hard it is to play the EPL and Champions simultaneously.

This is why Spurs played above their heads last year.

This year Tottenham came crashing down to earth.

Tottenham started out like crap. Before Spurs knew it, they fell behind 3-0 before rallying to make the final score a respectable 3-2.

Spurs picked those all-important two away goals.

The second leg will be played next Wednesday at White Hart Lane.

Spurs need to win this sucker. If not Tottenham will not make it to the group stage of the Champions League.

Goals by Sebastien Bassong and Roman Pavlyuchenko gave Spurs a fighting chance to advance to the next round.

Mengao has four wins, three losses, and four draws.

Rubro-Negro has a plus two in goal difference.

Avai and Cruzeiro both have 16 points and the same goal difference as Mengao a plus two.

Leao de Ilha is in fifth place because they have scored 17 goals. Cruzeiro has scored 11 goals so Raposa Celeste is in sixth place.

Flamengo has scored 10 goals.

We don’t have a very good offense nor is our “D” worth a damn.

Lomba has only given up two goals in the three matches he has played since Bruno was sent to the hoosegow.

He is not the problem. Marcelo Lomba was hung out to dry by his cappy defensive mates.

We need a huge lift.

Corinthians is now top dog with 22 points. Timao blasted Guarani 3-1.

Fluminense and Botafogo tied one in the all-important Rio de Janeiro derby.

This tie cost Flu the top spot in the Campeonato.

Po-de arroz has 23 points.

Third place belongs to Ceara with 20 bad boys.

Vovo and Palmeiras tied one all.

Vasco has moved outta the drop zone.

Gigante de Colina is in the 14^th spot with 13 points.

Botafogo is now in the heave-hoe zone.

Fogao is in 17^th place with 12 points.

Atletico-GO is the bottom feeder with seven points.

The Flamengo guys won’t play until Sunday August 1^st  in a huge derby match against Vasco.
