It’s going to be a hot time in the old house tonight when Mexico battles the USA for the CONCACAF crown

This epic battle will take place at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

Bob Bradley and his boys will have to play a lot better then have been playing.

Tim Howard needs to come up big.

The USA “D” better have an effective answer for Mexican super man Chicharito.

This cat can flat out play futebol.

Seven goals in the tourney so far for Javier Hernandez and this is why this kid is fast becoming a rising star on the international stage.

Chicharito scored 13 goals for Sir Alex and the boys.

This cat single handily won two matches for Man U.

Tim Howard knows him oh so well.

Howard is keeper for Everton.

Tim Howard was a back up keeper and started a few matches for Sir Alex.

Clint Dempsey is very familiar with Chicharito tamben.

The Clint man was the top scorer for Fulham with 12 goals.

The key to this match will be the USA “D”.

Can they boys stop the fluent attack of Mexico?

Can the Carlos Bocanerga contain Chicharito?

Will Donovan come big?

Can the USA back line stop the penetration drives by Mexico?

If we can’t it will be a long night for Tim Howard.

Howard is good but he can’t stop one on eleven all nightlong.

Freddie Adu may have a say in this.

When he came in against Panama this opened up the mid field.

This allowed Donovan to swing wide and opened up the “D”.

Clint Dempsey needs to finish his scoring chances.

The USA needs to attack and pressure Mexico.

In the end Mexico should win.

The USA is okay but we lack real team speed and the basic knowledge of the game.

What I mean is that we do not possess the ability to spread the offense out.

The world-class clubs like Man U and Real Madrid set up the ”D” with many short passes and then attack.

This is called a build up.

The USA plays too much long ball.

Bob Bradley needs to work on his clubs passing ability.

This means the pass has to be right on the money.

Think Joe Montana and Jerry Rice or Magic Johnson feeding Kareem.

Mexico 3- USA 2 will be the final score.

Santos won the Copa Libertadores. Peixe defeated archrival and hated foe Penarol 2-1 at Santo’s house in Sao Paulo.

This was Peixe’s first title since 1962.

Pele played for the club at the time.

Jeez folks that’s many moons ago.

Santos made to the finals in 2003 but Peixe lost to Boca Juniors 6-1 on aggregate.

Los Xeneizes destroyed Santos in both legs 2-0 and 3-1.

However this time it was different for Peixe.

Both clubs tied nil-nil in Montevideo.

All Peixe needed to do was win out right.

This is what Santos did.

Neymar’s goal in the 46th minute was a thing of beauty.

Mate Ganso took the rock straight to the rack. Henrique Ganso stopped at the top of the box and swung a wide pass to Neymar.

Neymar one timed the shot between the keeper and the left post.

Danilo ripped the twines in the 68th minute.

The Manyas made close when Durval found the back of the net in the 79th minute.

Close but no cigar for Penarol.

Game, set, and match for Santos.

I am happy for Santos but I am a Flamenguista for life.

Santos and Penarol tied nil-nil in Montevideo on Wednesday night in the first leg of the finals of the Copa Libertadores.

Peixe could not come up with the all-important away goal.

The Manyas had many chances to dent the scoreboard but couldn’t find the code.

Penarol wasted three really good scoring opportunities.

The Manyas did score in the 86th minute but Diego Alonso was ruled offsides.

Peixe was under a ton pressure the entire match but Santos didn’t crack.

The second leg will be played in Peixe’s house in Sao Paulo.

All Santos needs to do is win 1-0 or 2-1 and the crown is theirs.

The Manyas need to win out right or tie at one all or better and Penarol will win their first Copa title in 48 years.

1963 is the actual date.

The United States advanced to the knockout stage of CONCACAF.

A stinging goal by Jozy Altidore in the 9th minute was the difference in this sucker.

The guys should have had at least six more but Guadeloupe keeper Franck Grandel made stop after stop after stop.

At one point it looked a shooting gallery.

Tim Howard almost had the night off but he was forced to make a great save late in the match.

The U.S. squad still does not have the basic passing skills and finishing punch to make them a contender on the world stage.

Sure Clint Dempsey is good but this clown missed two sure gimmie goals.

If Messi was playing it would been nothing but the back of net.

A win is a win and the U.S. is a power in the North America Zone and CONCACAF stage.

On the world stage what do you expected chopped liver?

The guys will take on the reggae boys on Sunday June 19th.

Jamaica is dangerous squad.

Later tonight the first leg of the Copa Libertadores will be played between Santos and Penarol in Montevideo.

It should be a good one.

Manyas need to win and not give up the all-elusive away goal.

The two big guns Neymar for Peixe and Penarol’s Juan Manuel Olivera should have lots of firepower to display.

Santos will battle Penarol in the finals of The Copa Libertadores.

The first leg will be played at the Uruguayans house in Montevideo on Wednesday June 15th.

Peixe has the second leg in their house in Sao Paulo on June 22nd

Santos has one of the best younger players in the world Neymar.

Neymar leads Peixe with five goals. He also leads the club with three assists as well five yellow cards and one Red card.

Santos is considered the favorite.

Penarol’s top scorer is Juan Manuel Olivera with five goals.

The Manyas are a very dangerous club.

Olivera is a great aerial threat so Peixe manager Muricy Ramalho will use a tall defender Bruno Rodrigo in the place of Dracena.  He can’t play due to having been given the heave-hoe in the second leg of Santos match against Cerro Porteno.

Penarol has won 37 Uruguayan titles.

The Manyas have won five Copa titles. The last came in 1987.

Peixe has won two Copa titles. The last won happened in 1963.

Santos made it to the 2003 Copa Libertadores finals but lost to Boca Juniors.

Peixe is the home of futebol great Pele.

Santos is also the home of Brasil’s best rock musician Charlie Brown Junior.

Santos hung on for dear life. Peixe and Cerro Porteno tied three all in Assuncao, Paraguay. Santos advanced on aggregate 4-3.

Peixe scored three first half goals to jump out to a 3-1 lead.

Cerro Porteno scored two second half goal to make this sucker close.

Neymar (45th minute) and Ze Eduardo (2nd minute) ripped the twines for Santos.

The difference in this puppy was an own goal by Porteno’s Diego Barreto in the 28th minute.

This was a classic keystone cops routine.

Neymar broke free into the offensive zone. This forced the keeper Diego Barreto to leave his line. Defender Pedro Benitez jumped between Neymar and the keeper. Benitez’s noggin hit the ball to the keeper Barreto. Barreto looked like he was swatting butterflies and batted the ball into the back of the net.

Game, set, and match to Peixe.

Peixe has not won the Copa Libertadores since 1963.

Santos also won this sucker in 1962.

Peixe’s last trip to the Copa finals happened 2003.

Santos lost to Boca Juniors.

Tonight Velez Sarsfield battles Penarol on Thursday night in El Fortin’s house in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Uruguayan side Penarol won the first leg 1-0 in their house in Montevideo.

UOL wrote this about the Peixe win- Na classificação do Santos à final da Libertadores após oito anos teve de tudo.

Will Santos win their first Copa title since 1963?

Santos takes a little trip to Assuncao, Paraguay tonight to battle Cerro Porteno in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinals.

Santos won at their house 1-0.

The Paraguayan side needs to hold serve and win 2-0 to advance to the Copa finals.

Peixe needs to score at least one goal and hold Cerro Porteno side goalless or flat out win by one goal to advance.

Santos has one of the best up and coming young talents in Neymar.

Neymar has sides from the EPL, Spain, and Italy bidding for his talents.

If Peixe wins tonight, they will have two more matches left in the Copa competition.

The Serie A just started two weeks ago so Santos will not have an insane schedule.

Is Cerro Porteno unbeatable at home?

Santos thinks otherwise.

Neymar could be the key to a Peixe victory.

This cat is a match changer.

Neymar’s running mate Ze Eduardo has scored ten goals in the Copa competition.

The Barca cheaters have one of the best players in the world Lionel Messi. His wing mates are David Villa, Pedro, and Xavi.

Camp Nou has a ton of team speed.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford have Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney, and Chicharito.

This should be a great one.

The Red Devils are playing in their house Wembley.

Will this make a difference?

It could.

The cheaters from Barca should win.

But don’t count out Sir Alex.

There are six matches left in the season so Boca has an outside chance to win the title.

This Sunday is the battle of the giants Boca-River Plate in Buenos Aires.

This will be an all out war.

It always is.

River Plate has won 33 domestic titles while Boca has 23 domestic crowns and 18 international club titles.
