What a way to start out the semi-finals of the Carling Cup. My guys from Arsenal haven’t seen a trophy in nearly seven years. Win one for the Gipper doesn’t work. The Gunners dropped a 1-0 decision to Ipswich Town at the Tractors boys house at Portman Road.
This was a stunner.
For I surely thought with the side we fielded this would be a one sided affair.
Not on this Wednesday night.
A goal by Tamas Priskin in the 78th minute sealed our fate.
Priskin beat the offside trap and launched a lolly pop shot that bend just past the keeper Wojciech Szczesny to send my gunners packing.
Arsenal played like shit the entire match.
It looked like the guys heads were in another part of their anatomy.
The place where the sun don’t shine.
This was worse than bad.
Wenger had this to say about his sides crappy performance- “Let’s not think that we lost the game because we haven’t bought a central defender. We lost the game because we didn’t play as well as we can. We have only two central defenders and we are short but I do not want to speak about any particular name.
“Frankly I am just disappointed about our defeat tonight. It is early to talk about a player coming in. We have nine games in January and it happens sometimes that you don’t always play well in every game.
“As a team we did not have the performance we wanted. We were below our usual level in every department and it would be unfair to put the blame in the defence. When you play in one half the long ball has 50 yards to be dangerous.”
My Gunners started a strong team.
Both Fabregas and Wilshere started. Wenger added-We had a lot of the ball but didn’t do enough with it. Ipswich defended with heart and hurt us on the counter attack, they showed that you can have 70% of the ball without coming out on top. You have to give Ipswich credit. They fought for this win.
“We rely a lot on our sharp and crisp passing and that was a problem tonight. We looked in control in the first half but looked much more vulnerable after the break. I put that down to fatigue. I believe we can turn it around but we had a warning tonight. We will have to produce a different performance at home.”
Cesc Fabregas said this about the match -”I can only remember two opportunities for them, but it was from a long, long ball because playing football they could not really get behind us or attacking. It is a bit disappointing because I think we were the much better team.
“But it was one of those nights and now we have to make [up for] it at the Emirates in two weeks.”
Arsenal have been susceptible to long balls over the top in the past but not so much this season. Fabregas insists they will work on that area of their game.
In a word Stink City by the Gunners.
Let’s hope we can right the ship and take care of business on Saturday.
We need to

Spurs are really on the schnid. Tottenham’s winless streak in the EPL is now at four matches.
Spurs and Sunderland kissed their sister a one all tie at Tottenham’s house White Hart Lane.
It took a while for Tottenham to get going.
Striker Rafael Van Der Vaart broke the code in the 64th minute. Van Der Vaart deposited a header pass from mate Peter Couch into the back of the net.
Instead of capitalizing on the gift, Spurs decided to play Keystone Cops “D”. William Gallas and Younes Kabul decided to play I got it, I got it, you take it game. This screw up allowed the Black Cats Asamoah Gyan to slip between the two Spurs idiot defenders. Gyan skipped the ball past a helpless keeper Heurelho Gomes in the 67th minute.
Game, set, and match tie to Spurs.
Tottenham fans gave em the Bronx cheer after match.
Harry me Boy Redknapp was pissed after the match. He was more madder at the fans than his team’s crappy play.
Here’s what the clown for a manager Redknapp said- ”What have they got to moan about? What they see here and what they’ve seen here. We couldn’t have done any more tonight; we couldn’t have tried any harder.”
With crap like this said no wonder Spurs are winless and struggling in the EPL.
Spurs are now in 6th place with 16 points.
Yes, you are doing great in the Champions League but this crap will catch up with you.
Spurs are copying from the Liverpool playbook.
Stoke City defeated Birmingham 3-2.
Later today, we have some real ball busters of matches on tap.
Man U and Man City battle it out at City of Manchester Stadium.
This will be a knock down drag out affair.
Katie bar the door on this sucker.
My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with Wolves at Molineux Stadium.
We suck on the road.
Chelsea takes on Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
Arsene Wenger has said that Cesc Fabregas will be a different player in todays match against Wolverhampton.
“He is completely clear [of his injury],” said Wenger. It has taken a lot out of him mentally and I believe that the fact he came through well against Newcastle you will see a different player on Wednesday night.” ( www.arsenal.com)
Sebastieni Squillaci had this to say about the importance of winning against Wolves on Wednesday.
No [I am not worried],” he said. “We’re still third in the Premier League and top of our group in the Champions League.
“But when you play for a team like Arsenal, after two defeats you need to respond. A great team doesn’t concede three consecutive defeats. So the next game will be really important, we need to show that Arsenal are a great team. We need to respond well at Wolves on Wednesday.
“It’s too early [to talk about our title chance having gone]. We lost a game but it’s not catastrophic. The season is long but, for sure, we must not lose anymore points at home. We know that home results are very important to be champions.
“Fatigue is not an excuse. Lots of players didn’t play against Shakhtar. We just need to talk about what didn’t work and then work on it.
“We’re disappointed because we didn’t let them have too many opportunities. We didn’t play a great Newcastle. But they scored this goal, which we could have avoided.
“It is a shame because we had the opportunity to get back on Chelsea and Manchester United and also make a gap on teams behind us.”
Let the fun and games begin.

Toons hung in there until my guys from Arsenal put a ton of pressure on Newcastle’s “D”. This resulted in an own goal by Toons keeper Tim Krul in the 45th minute.
The Gunners Craig Eastman fired a great shot on goal. Newcastle defender Ryan Taylor’s header was sent in the wrong direction. Krul never had a chance.
1-0 for us.
I love it.
Theo Walcott started off the second half with a bang. Mate Djourou fired a great header ball into the goal area. Walcott beat the trap and nailed the winner in the 52nd.
Nicklas Bendtner fired a close range missile in the 83rd to give Arsenal a 2-nil lead.
The QB Cesc Fabregas set up this goal. Fabregas made the great ball reversal after an error by Toons Guthrie.
Theo Walcott’s second goal in the 88th minute made 4-0 for the Gunners.
Fabregas and Walcott made a wonderful give and go that rendered Newcastle’s “D” helpless.
This was a huge win for Gunner nation.
Theo Walcott had a huge presence in this match.
Arsene Wenger had this to say about Walcott’s daily double- www.arsenal.com
He was sharp. He was very sharp at the start of the season but then he got injured with England against Switzerland and it was his first game back today. You see that he has improved his composure in front of goal, he has tremendous pace and his first touch is much better. The timing of his runs have always been good but his first touch when running at full pace is better. That makes a big difference.
Wenger heaped more praise on Theo Walcott.
I think Theo Walcott is 21-years-old. That’s the age when other players start to play. He is a very young boy and he is a very intelligent player and that’s why I believe he will continue to develop. He has tremendous pace and power and in front of goal he is very good. The timing of his runs are good and for a striker that is the most important thing.
Wenger on the guy’s performance- I am pleased with the performance. Saying that, the first goal was certainly the turning point in the game because we had a lot of domination but didn’t take our chances early on in the game. Then Newcastle defended with numbers behind the ball and it became difficult to score. We were lucky with the first goal just before half time – that was certainly a blow for Newcastle. It put us in a position where we could break much more because Newcastle had to come out and that’s basically what happened in the second half.
It is on to the next round of the Carling Cup for Arsenal.
Aston Villa needed extra time to beat recently send down Burnley 2-1.
West Ham beat Stoke City 3-1.

The headline match of the weekend is Manchester City and Arsenal. These two sides are locked in a battle for the top three spots in the EPL.
City is coming off a huge win last weekend over Blackpool while my guys from Arsenal are coming off a hard fought win over Birmingham.
This is a must win for us if the Gunners are to keep in touch with top dog Chelsea.
Chelsea has 19 points while we have 14 points.
If we lose and Chelsea wins this will drop us seven points off the pace.
Chelsea should win against Wolverhampton on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are almost unbeatable in their house.
Another walk in the park for Chelsea.
City has 17 points.
Man City is playing great futebol.
City beat Chelsea already this year at their house City of Manchester Stadium.
Our road struggles are well documented.
The guys from Gunner land have one win, two ties, and a draw on the road this season.
We have scored four goals on the road and have given up five.
Tevez maybe unhappy at City but his performance on the pitch doesn’t reflect his unhappiness,
He is kicking ass and taking names.
Tevez is the top twine ripper with seven.
He is on fire.
We have to smoother him.
“D” is the key.
Cesc Fabregas is another key.
His return will help bolster the Gunners attack.
Fabregas is the QB.
He is like a Peyton Manning.
Fabregas pinpoint passes and easy flowing style will create lots of scoring opportunities for Arshavin, Marouane Chamakh, and Samir Nasri.
Manchester United is in a must win situation as well.
The Red Devils need to beat Stoke City on Sunday at the Potters house.
Man U hasn’t lost a match all season but the mighty boys from Old Trafford have let four leads slip from their grasp and allow sure wins to turn into draws.
This is not good.
Stoke City is currently in 9th place with 10 points.

The Gunners romped over Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1.
This match marked the return of Cesc Fabregas.
Arsenal is on to the round of 16.
We took it to them from the opening bell.
Goals by Alex Song and Samir Nasri made 2-nil before the break.
Fabregas nailed a PK in the 60th minute.
Jack Wilshere added a blast in the 66th minute.
Marouane Chamakh nailed on in the 69th minute to make 5-0 before Eduardo hit one for the Ukrainians in the waning moments of the match for a 5-1 final.
Shakhtar entered Arsenal’s house with 15 wins in 17 matches. They haven’t lost in Europe in a long time.
Boy did the Ukrainians walk into a buzz saw.
Manager Arsene Wenger had this to say about the walk in the park win. Quotes taken from www.arsenal.com
I believe we made it easy because we had a good team performance. The goals came naturally through the game through great technical quality and overall I believe as well that our technical quality slowly got them tired and, especially in the second half, the goals came with one-twos or possession. I felt they had given a lot in the first half to chase and be focused to defend well, and we took advantage of that in the second half.
Wenger added about the teaming up of Wilshere and Fabregas- Yes, I am convinced it works well together. Cesc just came back tonight but Jack has a good maturity level, you never think he’s 18 years of age when he plays. They combine very well. The midfield worked very well tonight.
Wenger talk about our next match against second place Man City on Sunday- Manchester City is a different type of game and what was important for us tonight was to win and then prepare. We won our last two games now and it is important we go to Manchester City with a good level of confidence and with some certainties in the way we want to behave. The result is important, the number of goals for me is not important.
Good win for the Gunners not it’s time to get back to work.

EPL is back at it this weekend. Yet, the clowns at FIFA and the national federations scheduled matches in the European Championship Qualifying round. This is really dumb.
No wonder players like Wayne Rooney, Miroslav Klose, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many others. No wonder these players are gassed.
Rooney and the like have what three days to recuperate. Many will play in League matches on Saturday and Sunday.
It is time the players stand up and walk out.
Thank God, no one was hurt.
It is time for all of this insanity has to stop.
There needs to be a sane schedule.
A real players union needs to be formed.
Enough said on this.
On the Argentinos front, Estudiantes is top dog in the Apertura with 25 points. Velez Sarsfield is in second place with 20 points.
River Plate is doing better. Los Millionaires are in seventh place with 16 points.
Boca Juniors is in 11th place with 13 points.
Los Xeneizos has spilt their last six matches.
Boca has won three matches and lost three matches.
River Plate in their last six matches have won one, lost two, and tied three.
This is not good.
Once again, both River and Boca are having a hard time.
This is sad.

It is time futebol players are stopped being treated like cattle. Players are no more than meat on the hoof for club owners and international federations. These owners and managers can use players however they want to.
Sure, players are paid great wages. At least the stars and many of the good players are paid handsomely but what is the price?
The price is very high.
The average player life span in futebol is maybe five to eight years.
These men have only a few years to many lots of money before their bodies begin to break down.
Yeah, I know clubs have taken out insurance policies to protect their property.
Cool, but what about player’s rights.
These federations and clubs force players to play upwards of 90-100 matches a year.
No wonder players like Wayne Rooney, Fernando Torres, Cesc Fabregas, and Robin Van Persie are broken down by the time they are 25 years old.
It is time players form a real union and start to demand proper medical care, insurance, and a limit on how many matches they can play each year.
I know it is really important to play for your country.
I can dig it but look at this fool why have all of these stupid friendly matches right after the World Cup has just concluded.
Use your freakin head for something besides a hat rack.
This makes as much sense as a fart in church.
It is time players refuse to play in these stupid and insane matches.
Futebol players need a Curt Flood to sacrifice his career for the good of the game and the players.
Until this happens, players will continue to go down like flies.
Pele played futebol from 1956 until 1977.
He played almost all of his career in Brasil.
Pele played for Santos from 1956-1974.
He played two years with the New York Cosmos before he quit in 1977.
Now a days players play in League play, Champions League, European Championships, International friendly and preseason matches all over the world.
Players like Pele and Maradona are the exception.
It is time for futebol players grow a set of balls and take on owners and FIFA management and tell them we have had enough of this crap.
Enough said.
Gunner nation will stand forever.

My guys from Arsenal are up to their old tricks on the road. Way to snatch a tie from the jaws of victory.
Darren Bent’s goal in the 95th minute gave Sunderland a one all tie with Arsenal.
Cesc Fabregas scored on a failed clearance attempt by Black Cats defender Anton Ferdinand. The ball went whamo bamo into the back of the net past an astonished keeper Simon Mignolet in the 13th minute.
Then the Gunners reverted to their stupid old losing ways on the road.
A dumb red card by defender Alex Song in the 55th minute and a missed PK by Tomas Rosicky in the 74th minute killed us.
These two events cost Gunner nation the much-needed three points.
Road wins are a must if we are to win the EPL.
Man U last week failed to hold a lead against Everton and now my guys this week against Sunderland did the same thing. This kind of crap may kill our chances to win the title.
A tie is okay but road wins are a must.
This type of BS happened way to much last year now we are repeating it again this year.
This sucks big time.
Spurs picked up a huge 3-1 win over Wolves.
This win will keep Tottenham in the hunt for the Champions league spot.
Wolverhampton led 1-0 until Spurs scored three goals in the final fourteen minutes.
With out Jermain Defoe Tottenham is hard pressed to score.
Thank God for a PK by Rafael Van der Vaart in the 76th minute and goals by Roman Pavlyuchenko 87th minute and Alan Hutton 90th minute saved Spurs hide.
What is wrong with Everton?
Toons beat em 1-0.
Stoke City and West Ham tied one all.
Aston Villa and Bolton tied 1-1.
Blackburn and Fulham kissed their sister one all.
West Brom beat Birmingham 3-1.
It looks like one all ties were the order of the day.
My Gunners had a chance to move into first place but no we are now one point behind Chelsea.
The Blues take on Blackpool on Sunday.
Chelsea has 12 points.
Arsenal has 11.
Tottenham is now in fourth place with eight points.
Man U has eight points.
The Red Devils take on Liverpool Sunday at Old Trafford.

My guys from Arsenal took Braga to the woodshed. The Gunners skunked em 6-0.
The rout was on.
This sucker was over from the opening bell.
Cesc Fabregas nailed a PK in the 9th minute.
Fabregas created the PK when he slipped a beautiful pass to mate Chamakh sidestepped the Braga keeper.
Wham bam.
Chamakh was tackled.
The result.
Our first goal
Marouane Chamakh was rewarded in the 34th minute.
He nailed a perfect strike.
Andrei Arshavin ripped a winner in the 30th minute.
Fabregas added his second goal in the 53rd minute.
Carlos Vela hit for the daily double too. He found the back of the net in 69th and 83rd minutes.
This was a huge win in our house Emirates.
We’re off to as good start in the Champions League Group.
Finally, the young dudes are playing as a cohesive unit.
Fabregas, Arshavin, Vela, Wilshere, and Nasri are comfortable on the pitch together.
Add Chamakh and we’re gonna be dangerous as the season progress.
Chelsea took care of business on the road whipping MSK Zilina 4-1.
Nicholas Anelka led the way with the daily double.
Michael Essian and Daniel Sturridge ripped the twines too.
All in all, it was a good start for the EPL.
Two wins and two ties.
Now it’s back to EPL play this weekend.
Gunner nation is happy.

We have arrived at the first international break of the new futebol season.
This is the stupidest idea in the world to begin play in the European Championships.
No wonder the world’s top players are breaking down all the time.
Rooney is broken. Robin Van Persie is coming off an injury. Fernando Torres is a wreck.
Why?
The world’s best players are playing 24-7 futebol.
The human body can only take so much wear and tear before it breaks down.
This is what is happening.
The best players in the world are coming off a domestic league schedule and then pile on top of that World Cup play.
Jeez, give me a break will ya.
FIFA needs their heads examined.
Give the players a break will ya.
The life of the world-class player now is what? Maybe ten years before the good old bod goes south.
Rooney can’t find the barn because he’s been playing non-stop since 2008.
Torres, Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, and the rest might make it until they are in their thirties before they are force to quit to due to injuries.
FIFA wake up and change this now.
You are ruining players and the game.
Enough is enough.
Maybe it is time to form a players union to stop this bullshit.
These are my thoughts during a break in the play in the EPL.
Players unite and form a union to stop the goons at FIFA from killing you.
