Lots of stuff to talk about today. Mengao took it to Botafogo 2-0.
Thiago Neves daily double led Flamengo into the Taca Rio semifinals.
Rubro-Negro has a 21 match-winning streak. Mengao has 15 points while Vasco has 16 points.
Both Mengao and Gigante da Colina are into the next round.
The season begins very shortly.
Lets see how well Flamengo does with the big boys.
UOL went on further to say-Com o resultado, o Flamengo manteve a série invicta, agora de 21 jogos, e ultrapassou a última grande série invicta do clube.
In Group B Fluminense is top dog with 14 points. Second place belongs to Olaria. Olaria has 14 points but Flu has a plus six compared to Olaria plus five.
Liverpool took it to Man City 3-0. Andy Carroll hit the daily lotto for the Reds.
This may have stuck a fork in City’s season. Man City lost Carlos Tevez due a injured hammy. This happened in the first half.
City is now buried in fourth place with 56 points.
Spurs are three points out of the final Champions League spot.
The Blues have a game in hand and should finish third possibly as high second place depending if my Gunners don’t stink the joint out.
Flamenguista and Gunner for life.

We are now in an international break so the EPL and the other leagues have a two-week break as the European Countries prepare for the European Championships qualifying rounds.
I hate to sound like a broken record but these matches are ruining the top stars of the world.
Why do you think Wayne Rooney has struggled these past few years?
Rio Ferdinand is always hurt and I will give you three guess and the first two don’t count.
The players need to form a union and stop this insanity.
Cesc Fabregas is coming back from and injury. So is Robin Van Persie.
Kaka just blew out his knee again.
What part of players need a rest don’t these federations get?
Oh yea, I forgot it is all about the Benjamin’s.
Money talks and bullshit walks.
News outta Flamengo is this. The club is making an effort to keep their young star players under a long-term contract.
A assinatura do novo compromisso ocorrerá nesta quinta-feira.
When Flamengo lost keeper Bruno due to murder charges filed against him, Mengao was in a world of hurt.
Rubro-Negro almost was sent packing. Sure, Marcelo Lomba played but he was not the answer so finally Patricia Amorim did the right thing and signed Felipe as the new keeper.
So far, it has worked out well for us Flamenguistas. Felipe has given up eight goals in 13 matches.
Way to go garoto.
Felipe does have a wild side and this was a cause for concern. He likes to wear the Mohican hairstyle however he cut his locks.

We have some real huge match ups this weekend in the EPL. My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with Tottenham at our house Emirates on Saturday.
This baby is a head knocker.
Spurs and the Gunners need to win.
If not then my guys from Arsenal will be looking down the long end of a rifle barrel.
Arsenal is two points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Chelsea has 28 points.
The Gunners have 26 bad boys
Spurs are hanging around in 7th place with 19 points.
Tottenham won for the first time in four matches last weekend.
The Gunners are coming off a huge 2-1 away win over Everton.
We always struggle on the road but this year Arsenal is making a ton of headway.
The Gunners have four wins, two draws, and one loss on the road.
This is the best road record in the EPL.
Arsenal is now road warriors.
Championships are won on the road.
Trust me on this.
IR report looks like this- taken from www.arsenal.com
Jack Wilshere has a fitness test on Friday that will determine his involvement in the North London derby at the weekend.
Medical staff at Arsenal will check Wilshere, along with Andrey Arshavin and Tomas Rosicky, in the next 24 hours. The latter pair are expected to be fit after international duty but, when Arsène Wenger spoke to TV Online on Thursday lunchtime, they had not yet returned to the Training Ground.
Robin van Persie’s recovery from an ankle problem was helped by 45 minutes for Holland and the manager is predicting no further bad news as the players come back from their countries
However Manuel Almunia (elbow), Thomas Vermaelen (Achilles) and Abou Diaby (ankle) are still out. The Spanish keeper is closest to a return. He is expected to be fully fit next week.
Arsene Wenger had this to say about the IR report- quotes from www.arsenal.com. “We have players coming back from the internationals,” said Wenger. “Some played shorter and some more longer. We have to assess all that tomorrow morning.
“Jack has a test. He has a little strain of a little muscle in the back and is not in full training at the moment. We will know more on Friday about whether he is available for Saturday.
“We have to assess Arshavin, who has still to come back. Rosicky is coming in later too. He had a tight hamstring but should be OK.
“Van Persie had 45 minutes, which was agreed. He needed that. We had someone at the game and he looked quite sharp.”
Wenger was asked which of the three remaining injured players would be back first.
“Almunia,” he answered. “He is back in full training. He needs a few more days because he has been out for a long time. But he should be available for next week.”
Lets roll the dice and get ready for some futebol.

Manchester City pulled a rabbit out of their hat. Actually, City pulled out Carlos Tevez. Tevez hit for the daily second half double to lead City past the Seasiders 3-2.
After a scoreless, first half both sides erupted for five-second half goals
Blackpool almost scored the first goal of the match early in the second half but DJ Campbell just missed it by that much.
Wham bam City takes off down the other end of the pitch. Carlos Tevez slipped the twines in the 67th minute to give City a 1-0 lead.
The Seasiders found the equalizer in the 78th minute. Marlon Harewood header found its mark to level this sucker one all.
A minute later Tevez dialed up a medium range shot that found its mark in 79th minute to lift City to a 2-1 lead.
City put the game on ice in the when David Silva made the Blackpool “D” look silly.
Silva scored his first EPL goal in the 90th minute.
3-1 City.
The Seasiders made it very interesting when Gary Taylor-Fletcher knocked home a point blank shot in the 93rd minute to make it 3-2.
This was all she wrote.
Manchester City is now in second place in the EPL with 17 points.
City beat Chelsea earlier this year.
The Blues are top dog with 19 points.
City maybe the new kids on the block.
Carlos Tevez is the EPL top scorer with seven.
Stick a fork in Liverpool for they are surely done.
The Reds lost to Everton 2-0.
This win may have saved the Toffees season. This win puts Everton in 11th place with nine points.
Liverpool is the your outta here zone.
The Reds are in 19th place.
Liverpool has six points.
There are big changes happening in the City of Manchester.
City is now top dog.
My guys from Arsenal will be heard from. We are in third place with 14 points.
The loss to West Brom and Chelsea have cost us but the Gunners will rise from the ashes and regain championship form.
Fabregas is out.
The word has it that Cesc Fabregas wants outta Arsenal.
This will hurt but lets see what happens.
Let the games begin.
Gunner nation rules.

EPL is back at it this weekend. Yet, the clowns at FIFA and the national federations scheduled matches in the European Championship Qualifying round. This is really dumb.
No wonder players like Wayne Rooney, Miroslav Klose, Cristiano Ronaldo, and many others. No wonder these players are gassed.
Rooney and the like have what three days to recuperate. Many will play in League matches on Saturday and Sunday.
It is time the players stand up and walk out.
Thank God, no one was hurt.
It is time for all of this insanity has to stop.
There needs to be a sane schedule.
A real players union needs to be formed.
Enough said on this.
On the Argentinos front, Estudiantes is top dog in the Apertura with 25 points. Velez Sarsfield is in second place with 20 points.
River Plate is doing better. Los Millionaires are in seventh place with 16 points.
Boca Juniors is in 11th place with 13 points.
Los Xeneizos has spilt their last six matches.
Boca has won three matches and lost three matches.
River Plate in their last six matches have won one, lost two, and tied three.
This is not good.
Once again, both River and Boca are having a hard time.
This is sad.

I am mad as hell right now. My Guys from Arsenal stunk the joint at home-Emirates. The Gunners had their jocks handed to them by lowly West Brom 3-2.
This stinks big time.
The entire squad should be shot at dusk and then hung the next morning for good measure.
This was Arsenal’s first home loss since Man U beat us January 2010.
This was a pure horrible offensive display of futebol by my Gunners.
West Brom should have taken the lead in the 37th minute when keeper Almunia was forced to tackle Obemwingie.
Almunia stone cold stopped the PK.
Way to go garoto.
Then all hell broke loose in the second half.
Albion scored two goals in two minutes.
Obemwingie ripped the twines in the 50th minute.
Two minutes (52nd minute) later Gonzalo Jara broke free in the box. Jara ripped the shot. Bing, bam, boom the ball goes right through Almunia’s hands and into the box of net.
Jerome Thomas scored the clincher in the 73rd minute.
Samir Nasri added two late cosmetic goals in he 75th and 90th minutes to make it a respectable 3-2 final score.
Arsenal had a chance to cut Chelsea’s lead to one point but no another wasted opportunity.
Chelsea was handed their first loss of the season.
City beat the Blues 1-0 at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Tevez showed why he is one of the best players in the world.
The Carlos man took off down the pitch on a wicked counter attack.
Dribble left go right. Tevez beat the defender and the naked keeper Petr Cech in the 59th minute.
The low shot caromed off the left post and curled into the back of the net.
The difference in the match was City’s smothering defense.
Man City shut down the high scoring Chelsea machine.
This was a huge win for City.
West Ham beat Tottenham 1-0.
The road woes for Spurs continues.
The Hammers are currently in 18th place with four points.
This was West Ham’s first win of the season.

Finally, that waste of a striker Dimitar Berbatov did what he was paid to do. Score goals. Berbatov hit the hat trick to lead Man U past a stubborn Liverpool squad.
The Red Devils defeated the Reds 3-2.
This was a huge win for the mighty boys from Old Trafford.
A tie or a loss could have stuck a fork in Man U’s title hopes.
Man U was up to their old tricks again.
The Red Devils jumped to 2-0 lead before Steven Gerrard nailed a PK in the 64th minute and then added a deft strike in the 70th minute to level this sucker at two all.
Enter Dimitar Berbatov in the 84th minute to save the day for Man U.
This is a very disturbing trend for Sir Alex and his boys.
The Red Devils have squandered three leads against Everton, Fulham, and Liverpool.
This baby almost bit them in the butt.
The last time Liverpool won the EPL was 1990.
The Reds are retooling.
This rebuilding effort may last for a while.
If Man U can get Wayne Rooney on track, the Red Devils will be a top-flight club instead of very good.
Man City picked a huge win 2-0 against Wigan.
The Lactics are in the shits.
Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure ripped the twines for City.
Chelsea took care of business at Home-Stamford Bridge.
The Blues destroyed Blackpool 4-0.
Florent Malouda hit for the daily double.
Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou tickled the twines too.
The Seasiders never had a chance.
This was Blackpool’s first loss of the season.
Chelsea is top dog with 15 points.
My guys from Arsenal are in the second spot with 11 points.
Manchester United is third with 11 but my Gunners have a plus 10 compared with the Red Devils plus seven goal difference.
Both Man City and Tottenham have eight points but City is a plus four while Spurs are a plus two.

Man City kicked ass and took some names in a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool.
City took care of business at their house.
Tevez hit the daily double.
The head case Tevez looks like he has buried the hatchet with City manager Roberto Mancini.
I mean Liverpool let victory slip out of their hands in their season opener at Anfield against my guys from Arsenal. However, this sucker wasn’t even close.
City was in control from the outset.
This 3-0 win was the largest win over the Reds since 1937.
James Milner was the key in the match.
He set up City’s first goal.
Milner feed Gareth Barry.
Barry ripped the twines in the 13th minute.
It all went downhill from there for Liverpool.
City looked like crap in their opener against Tottenham.
Now Man City looked like world-beaters.
Liverpool may struggle big time this year.
So far, a great start to the season.
I can’t wait to see how this season will shake down.
I still think Chelsea is on the downhill side of forty.
The Blues may win the title but this will be their last hurrah.
More skinny on the EPL on the flip side.
You gotta love it.
De Futebol
Today it is for real. The EPL begins play.
The headline match will be Manchester City and Tottenham. This should be a barnburner. Both sides will be loaded and gunning for bear.
Fasten your seat belts folks. Buckle yourself in and watch a wild and woolly affair.
Spurs have some really good players.
Tottenham’s main man will be Jermain Defoe.
Let’s see if Defoe can duplicate last years scoring pace.
I still think Spurs played way above their heads last year. Tottenham will finish in eighth or nine place.
City on the other hand has the head case Carlos Tevez. Tevez is a great player but he doesn’t want to play for Manchester City.
Tevez and Mancini do not get along.
Let’s see how this friction will translate on the pitch.
City will finish just out of the money.
Tottenham is playing at their house White Hart Lane.
Chelsea opens defense of their title against newly promoted West Brom.
The Blues should win hands down but all you Chelsea fans don’t get too excited.
The Blues are on the down side of forty.
The squad is old and Chelsea may win the crown.
Drogba and the rest are inching towards thirty.
This means they guys will start to break down.
Everton takes on Blackburn.
The Toffees have one of the best keepers in the world Tim Howard.
This will be a good one.
Let the games begin.
De Futebol
There is one day left before we begin EPL play. I can’t wait. Yes, I love Brasileiro futebol but my passion is the EPL.
So you can say I am an American with a Brasilian heart and the passion of an Englishman who loves watching the EPL.
My two passions are Brasileiro futebol, and the EPL.
My wife loves futebol but she would like to have a Saturday free of futebol.
Oh yea, my wife had that since May but heck, who is counting.
There are some huge opening round matches. Tottenham battles Manchester City on Saturday. On Sunday, Liverpool takes on my Gunners.
Sure, these are huge opening salvos.
The outcome may have a lot to say on who will win the title and be in the race for the Champions League spots.
However, when the durst settles the usual suspects, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool will battle it out for the EPL crown.
Yes, I did say the Reds.
Why?
Last year was a fluke.
A new manager will make all the difference but the only problem I see is the injury to Fernando Torres. Torres was last seen collapsed on the pitch in Spain’s last match- the finals of the World Cup.
His is world-class player and if Torres can’t play, Liverpool will struggle.
I think Spurs will be a mid table side.
Last year was a fluke for Tottenham.
Man City is a good squad but I think they will finish seventh or eighth.
I think Carlos Tevez is a head case. He is a great player but he hates playing for Roberto Mancini. Tevez will cause problems for Mancini.
How will this translate onto the pitch?
This is the sixty four thousand dollar question.
City will not compete for the title.
This is too much garbage in this clubs closet.
On Saturday, I will talk about my Gunners, Man U, and Chelsea.
Here is a hint.
The Blues are good but they are on a downhill slide.
The glory days are about over for Chelsea.
