Author: Mengao has shot themselves in the head. Flamengo lost to the Paraguayan club Olimpia 3-2. This loss has almost killed Rubro-negro’s chances of the making it out of Group play in the Copa Libertadores.
UOL wrote that Mengao has two chances slim and none. “O Rubro-Negro até teve boas chances ao longo da partida, mas não conseguiu vencer a marcação do adversário. Se na partida no Engenhão, o Olimpia conseguiu estragar a festa brasileira, o mesmo não aconteceu nesta noite. Há duas semanas, o Flamengo vencia a partida por 3 a 0 até os 30min do segundo tempo, mas cedeu o empate. No Defensores del Chaco, o desfecho foi bem diferente e os paraguaios superaram o clube da Gávea na tabela.”
UOL took a poll and they found that 29% of Flamenguistas think Flamengo will make it out of Group play.
“O Flamengo começou a quarta rodada com chances de assumir a liderança do grupo 2 da Copa Libertadores. Porém, a equipe da Gávea perdeu para o Olimpia-PAR por 3 a 2 na noite de quarta-feira e se complicou na competição. O resultado negativo consolidou o Rubro-Negro como o pior time brasileiro no torneio continental com apenas 29,8% de chance de classificação para as oitavas de final. Mesmo com cenário desanimador, o técnico Joel Santana não joga a toalha e já trava batalha contra a matemática para levar o clube ao mata-mata.”
Mengao fell behind 1-0 before half. Vanger Love scored in the 48th minute to level this sucker up at one all. Olimpia scored the next two goals to make it 3-1. Bottinelli scored a goal in the 77th minute but it was too little to late.
Olimpia and Lanus each have seven points. Mengao has five.
Up next for Flamengo is at Emelec on April 4th. This is a must won situation for boo-Mengao. The Ecuadorian side has won one match. Emelec is the bottom feeder with three points.
Globo Esporte had this to say about Flamengo stinking the joint out.

Santos picked up a huge 2-0 win over Juan Aurich Thursday in Copa Libertadores Group One play. Neymar and Edu Dracena scored for Peixe. The win gives Santos nine points. Peixe is top dog in Group One.
Velez Sarsfield defeated Deportivo Quito 1-0.
Juan Manuel Martinez hit the match winner in the 89th minute. Velez Sarsfield is atop the leader board with nine points.
The EPL takes center stage today. Chelsea battles Tottenham. Both Spurs and the Blues are fighting for the final two spots in the Champions League.
My guys from Arsenal are at home against Aston Villa. This is another one of those must win situations for the guys. The rumor mill has it that Wenger is close to signing Germany striker Lukas Podolski. Wenger said this- “Quantity-wise we will not do a lot. Quality-wise certainly, and we will take a gamble if we find top, top quality of course,” he said.
“The number of the squad is 25. We have many players out on loan and we have not had Jack Wilshere or Abou Diaby for the whole season.
“These players will be back and that means number and quality-wise we are strong because we are now in the position we are in without these players.”

The guys have a five match-wining streak. This has propelled my Gunners into third place.
Wenger told the guys they must maintain their focus if they want to finish in the top three. The team can’t ease off it must be pedal to the medal.

De Futebol
The Copa Libertadores is the oldest competition in South America. It began in 1960. This competition includes clubs from South America and selected clubs from Mexico. Three clubs are chosen to compete from each South American country. Brasil and Argentina each have five clubs allowed to compete.
The clubs are divided into group play. The Group winners and the runner up compete in a knockout stage. The club that makes through the competition is crowned Copa Libertadores Champion.
The Copa winner then competes in the FIFA World Club championship that is held in December.
Santos won the Copa last year. Argentina club Independiente has won the most Copa Titles seven.
Independiente last won the Copa in 1984.
Boca Juniors has won six. Los Xeneizes last title came in 2007.
Sao Paulo and Santos have each won three titles. Tricolor last title came in 2005.
In Wednesday action in the Copa Corinthians defeated Cruz Azul 1-0. Danilo scored the match winner for Timao in the 35th minute. Corinthians is top dog in Group Six with eight points.
Thursday play features Santos taking on Juan Aurich in Group One play. Peixe is in third place in Group One with six points.
Velez Sarsfield has a hot date with Deportivo Quito in Group Seven play

River Plate is slowly working its way out of the depths of hell Nacional B. Los Millionaires defeated Deportivo Merlo 3-0. This gives River Plate thirteen wins. Los Millionaires sits in second place with 48 points. River Plate trails Instituto de Cordoba by one point. La Gloria beat up Chacarita Juniors 3-1. This gives Instituto de Cordoba 49 points.
The top two sides will be given a get outta jail free card. This means the top two clubs will play in the Primeira Division de Argentina.
Tigre sits atop the Clausura with 14 points. Boca Juniors is in second placed with 13 points.
Los Xeneizes are coming off a 1-0 win over San Martin de San Juan. Tigre and Estudiantes tied one all.
Los Verdinegros last played with the big boys in 1970. This marks the third time that San Martin de San Juan has mixed it up in the Primeira de Argentina. Los Verdinegros is in 12th place with seven points.
The biggie match that’s taking place in the EPL today is Man City and Chelsea. City needs to win this sucker. So do the Blues for they are in a dogfight for the final two Champions league spots. My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with Everton at the Toffees house. We need to win this sucker if we want to move into third place.
Tottenham battles Stoke City at White Hart Lane.
Spurs are third with 53 points.
My Gunners are fourth at 52.
Chelsea is fifth with 49.

Wenger on changes from the Newcastle match- There are no changes. Vermaelen had a kick on his calf and after the game he had a big pain but he is alright. Diaby is back but he is with the reserves at Liverpool. He will play for an hour.
On Santos-He is fit enough to start but he was like that for the Newcastle game.
On Squillaci He is back in full training now.
The up to date injury list- Coquelin will be the quickest back. It will be a few weeks until he is back in training. It is difficult to set a deadline on Jack. We go week by week with him. But his last scan was very good so we don’t have worry anymore. It is about progress and fitness, however I can’t set a date.

Mengao once again almost blew it against a second tier futebol club. Flamengo scored first on a brilliant goal by Vanger Love in the 11th minute. Vanger missed the one on one with the keeper but he tapped in the miss.
Dumbo Rubro-Negro gave up a goal in the 59th minute to Duque de Caxias Tiago Rodriquez. The long-range bomb was missed played by Felipe. This stupidity almost cost us big time but up stepped Ronaldinho Gaucho to score the match winner in the 86th minute. Gaucho rammed home the PK to save the day.
This goal by Ronaldinho Gaucho cost Mengao 833 thousand dollars.
UOL- O gol de Ronaldinho Gaúcho na partida do último domingo, contra o Duque de Caxias, garantiu a vitória do Flamengo pela segunda rodada da Taça Rio, mas não evitou uma nova série de cobranças ao jogador por parte da torcida. Botafogo is top dog with six points. Macaé is second with six but Fogao is a plus four while Macaé is a plus two.

Mengao takes on Nova Iguacu on Saturday in third round play in the Taça Rio.

Boo-Mengao has now dropped two matches in a row. The guys are really stinking the joint out. Vanger Love scored first but Flamengo gave up two goals and lost to Boavista 2-1.
This season is starting out really badly. If we continue to play this way Rubro-Negro will be whale dung when the real season begins in late May-The Serie A.
A estreia do Flamengo na Taça Rio foi marcada por sequência de lances inusitados. Os comandados de Joel Santana abriram o placar no início do jogo e davam sinais de que teriam vida tranquila na partida desta quarta-feira. No entanto, o Boavista complicou o jogo e venceu, de virada, por 2 a 1, com gol polêmico e ainda teve que superar a ausência do goleiro por 6min para confirmar a vitória sobre os rubro-negros.
Both sides had players given the heave-hoe but this didn’t this didn’t stop Mengao from giving up a PK and a late goal to a second division club Boavista.

The international friendly is in season again. These stupid matches do more harm than good. Players who play in these matches wind up hurt all the time and many times players such as Fernando Torres, Kaka, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and the like are ruined forever.
Thank God Rooney was able come back. This is do to Sir Alex Ferguson. Rio Ferdinand on the other hand is dead meat. Torres is on the way to the bone heap.
With that said Brasil took on Bosnia Herzegovina. My guys won 2-1. Sure this is good but my God what the hell happened to Brasileiros futebol. The guys needed an own goal by Bosnia Herzegovina in the 90th minute to pull out the win.
Marcelo scored in the 4th minute for Brasil.
Bosnia Herzegovina found the equalizer in the 13th minute.
Vedad Salihovic ripped the twines.
This is not good garoto.
If the guys continue to play like this we’ll get kicked out in the group stage of the World Cup. Imagine the hell that will break loose if this happens.

My guys from found a different way to lose. Vanger Love hit pay dirt first in the 2nd minute then boo-Mengao gave up the equalizer in the 15th minute. Alecsandro gave Vasco the big Mo they needed.
Vanger Love fired a long-range bomb from just outside the top of the box.
O jogo mal começou e o Flamengo saiu em vantagem. Aos 2, Vagner Love recebeu bola na entrada da área e aproveitou o fato de Ronaldinho confundir a zaga vascaína para driblar Fagner e abrir o placar. O golaço empolgou os rubro-negros, que partiram com tudo para o ataque. Inicialmente dominado, o Vasco buscava se reorganizar e trabalhar a posse de bola.
The reason for the Vasco win was Diego Souza.
Os times passaram a segurar mais a bola e atacar apenas “na boa”. Com as substituições feitas, Diego Souza foi o responsável por levar o Vasco à final da Taça Guanabara. Aos 32, Kim cruzou e Fagner apareceu pelo meio para cabecear. Felipe espalmou para o lado e Diego Souza aproveitou o rebote para virar o jogo e iniciar a festa vascaína na Quarta-Feira de Cinzas.

Mengao had their chances to win this sucker but once again the guys couldn’t push the rock past the goal line.
Deivid had a golden opportunity but missed a point blank shot.
O projeto inicial do Flamengo para 2012 já não é mais o mesmo. Apesar da disputa da Taça Libertadores da América, o rubro-negro reconhece que o Campeonato Carioca não pode ser deixado de lado. Após um Carnaval de muita folia entre os jogadores, um gol incrível perdido por Deivid e uma eliminação para o maior rival na semifinal do primeiro turno do Estadual, o time da Gávea mudou o foco e sabe que a disputa da Taça Rio virou prioridade.

Mengao has a hot date with Vasco in the semifinals of Taça Guanabara Wednesday night. The winner of this puppy will advance to the finals to take on the winner of the Botafogo-Fluminense winner.
Flamengo’s problem has been scoring. The “D” is pretty good but the attack led by Ronaldinho Gaucho and company has been offensive at best. Our scoring down right sucks so the guys are going to have to put the ball into the back of the net.
UOL wrote a story stating that since 2010 Gigante de Colina hasn’t beaten my guys. Rubro-Negro has three wins and five ties.

My guys from Mengao finally put it together offensively. Flamengo beat Resende 3-1 to advance to the semifinals Taça Guanabara.
This sucker was a close call.
My guys from boo-Mengao fell behind 1-0 before scoring three straight goals to pull out the “W”.

Finally Ronaldinho Gaucho found the back of the net. Vanger Love and Negueba scored as well.

Mas o Flamengo pelo menos garantiu um pouco de paz no carnaval ao assegurar presença no desfile das campeãs da Taça Guanabara. Com virada de 3 a 1 sobre o Resende, neste sábado, em Volta Redonda, o time de Joel Santana avançou como segundo colocado para as semifinais do primeiro turno do Campeonato Carioca. Both Rubro-Negro and Botafogo are tied on points with 15 but Fogao is a plus 13 compared with my guys plus nine.
Botafogo defeated Macaé 3-0 earlier in the day. Flamengo and Vasco will go to war on Wednesday in the semifinal of the Taça Guanabara.
Fogao and Fluminense will take to the pitch on Thursday in the other semifinal.
