UOL wrote this about the slaying of Santos by Barcelona- Durante cinco meses, Muricy Ramalho vendeu a imagem de que o Santos iria atacar o Barcelona. O treinador passava horas analisando o clube catalão, consolidou um esquema tático para o esperado duelo, mas modificou tudo momentos antes de perder por 4 a 0 para o melhor time do mundo no Japão. Só que a escolha foi por uma opção jamais treinada.
Barcelona is good but these cats are in a dogfight in the Spanish League with hated foe Real Madrid.
In the La Liga Real Madrid is top dog with 40 points.

Santos is up next.
Peixe needs to be on top of their game.
Neymar and company are going to have to play air tight “D’ and shoot the lights out of the net.
Two of the best players in the world will be going at it.
Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Brasileiros Neymar will battle it out big time.
Messi has been on the world scene for about seven years. Neymar broke onto the world stage 2009.
Both Messi and Neymar are being considered for the FIFA Puskas Award for goal of the year.
The Telegraph from Britain wrote this about Messi and Neymar- Messi is the current world player of the year and leading light in a Barcelona side who are ranked as one of the greatest teams of all time.
Neymar, meanwhile, is one of the most sought after young talents on the planet and already a mainstay of the Brazilian national team.
The Telegraph-It is the second time Messi has topped the World Soccer poll. He was the victor in 2009, but narrowly lost out to his Barca team-mate Xavi last year. Xavi finished third this time, behind Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Portugal.
Brazilian starlet Neymar is the only player in the top 10 based outside of Europe. The Santos youngster finished sixth in the World Player poll, but was the clear winner of the Young Player award, ahead of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze, Lille’s Belgian attacker Eden Hazard and Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Neymar said about him being better than Pele- The Times of India -Star Brazilian striker Neymar said on Friday that he would never be better than Pele and insisted he was not interested in impressing his many European suitors at the Club World Cup.
“He’s the one and only, he’s the king of football,” said Neymar, sporting his trademark blond bouffant hairdo.
Neymar is good but so far on the world stage for the Brasileiros National Team he has struggle big time.
Messi for that matter has too.
Neither of these two guys are Pele.
Pele is the greatest futebol player who ever lived.

Here is the skinny on the Brasileiros Serie A.
Corinthians is the champ.
Timao won their first title since 2005.
Corinthians was sent down to D-2 ball in 2007.
It took Timao two years to dig out of the hole.
Corinthians made it back in 2009 to Brasileiros Serie A.
Atletico—PR, Ceara, America-MG, and Avai were sent packing to Serie B or as I like to call it D-2 ball.
Portuguesa, Nautico, Ponte Preta, and Sport were promoted to the big boys league.
Sent packing from Serie B were Icasa, Vila Nova-GO, Salgueiro, and Duque de Caxias to the depths of whale dung Serie C.
If a club has dropped past Serie B it is a long hard process to dig ones way out of this huge hole.
All one has to do is ask Juventude.
Santos defeated Kashiwa 3-1 in the semifinals of the FIFA World Club Championships held in Japan.
Peixe won the Copa Libertadores title.
Neymar was the hero for Santos.

Peixe will face the winner of the Barcelona- Al-Sadd played today.
Lionel Messi, Pedro, David Villa, and Xavi are part of the Catalans offensive firepower that Peixe will be staring down in the FIFA World Club Championship on Sunday December 18th.
UOL wrote this about the Peixe win http://esporte.uol.com.br/
The guys know that Barca will be a hard match.
Santos will have to be on the top of their game or the Catalans firepower will kill them.

Liverpool shot themselves in the foot big time. The Reds had a chance to move up the table.

The Cottagers are now in 13th place with 15 points.

It sure looks like the guys are finding their stride.
The pieces are starting to gel.
RVP has scored 30 goals on the season.
This is the second straight double for Robin Van Persie.
The other match of interest saw Barcelona beat AC Milan 3-2.
The Catalans twice took the lead only to lose it to the Italian side.
This puppy was a dogfight.
Messi, Xavi, and own goal by Milan’s Mark Van Bommel were the difference in the match.

My guys from Arsenal battled with Marseille. Both sides ended in a nil-nil draw at the Gunners house-Emirates.
The guys had a ton of chances but once again we came up with bupkis.
Still a tie doesn’t hurt us too bad.
But we still have to wait a week to see if we’ll advance to the knockout stage.
Sure Arsenal didn’t start Robin Van Persie or Andre Arshavin but jeaze guys a score would have been nice.
Arsenal is still top dog in Group F with eight points.
Marseille is second banana with seven points.
Dortmund is third with four points.
Dortmund defeated Olympiakos 1-0.
Chelsea had their chances but the Blues could only manage a one all tie with Racing Genk.
Group E is still a wide-open affair.
Valencia beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1.
Three points separate the top three clubs.
Chelsea is in the pole position with eight points.
Leverkusen is second with six points.
Valencia is third with five points.
There are two matches left in Group play.

It sure looked like my guys from Arsenal would stink the joint out and wind up with a tie at Marseille’s house.
Aaron Ramsey fired a close range rocket past French keeper Steve Mandanda in the 92nd minute to give my Gunners a huge 1-0 win.
Mate Djourou whipped a great cross into the top of the box. The pass was intended for Gervinho but he couldn’t quite control it. The ball skidded across the grass to Aaron Ramsey who knocked home the winner.
Game, set, and match to Arsenal.
Look folks we had our chances but the guys are having trouble finishing the deal.
Arsenal is top dog in Group F play with seven points.
Marseille is in second place with six.
Chelsea took apart Racing Genk 5-0.
Fernando Torres led the way with the daily double.
This sucker wasn’t even close.
Defending Champion Barcelona got by Viktoria Plzen 2-0.
David Villa and Andres Iniesta scored for the Catalans.
The Blues are the pole sitter in Group E with seven points.
Bayer Leverkusen is second with six points.
Barcelona and AC Milan are tied with seven points each in Group H but the Catalans have a plus seven compared with the Italians plus four.
Three matches into the Champions League play; the defending champs Barca is just getting by.

My Gunners once again found a way to screw up a wet dream. Arsenal snatched a draw from the jaws of victory. Leading from the 42nd minute until 88th minute it sure looked like we would get outta Germany with a win.
Robin Van Persie ripped the twines in the 42nd minute to give us a 1-0 lead.
Mate Theo Walcott thread the needle past the “D” to RVP who slotted this sucker past the keeper.
But guess what folks a goal by Borussia Dortmund leveled this sucker at one all in the 88th minute.
This puppy was set up by my guys failing to clear a free kick. Ivan Perisic one timed the volley into the back of the net.
Game, set, and tie to Arsenal.
Once again our “D” and lack of offense was exposed.
This crap could wind up making this a long season for Gunner nation.
The stat sheet showed this.
The Gunners were out shot 22-9. Borussia had six on target while Arsenal had two.
Dortmund had 57% of the possession while our guys had 43%.
Translate this in football lingo our “D’ was on field for most of the match.
This is not good.
At least we came away with a tie but this trend is disturbing.
In real world terms this sucks big time.
Chelsea defeated Bayern Leverkusen 2-0.
Barca gave up a late goal to AC Milan’s Thiago Silva in the 92nd minute.
This allowed the Italians to tie the Catalans two all.
This is not good garoto.
The Champions will always have a bull’s eye on their backs.

This is it folks. Two weeks and the EPL season begin.
On Sunday August 7th the Community Shield will feature EPL champs Man U verses cross-town and hated rival Man City winners of the FA Cup.
This sucker will be an old fashioned barnburner.
Sir Alex and the boys defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the World Football Challenge played in Landover, Maryland.
The Catalans didn’t play Messi and some of their top players but Barca displayed why they will be a force to be reckoned with in Spain and the Champions League.
Man U improved on the defensive end of the pitch.
Barca put a tone of pressure on the Red Devil “D”.
The Catalans only cracked the code once.
Man U has a deadly counter attack.
Nani is cat quick.
He just glides down the pitch.
Rooney played like Rooney.
Goals by Nani and Michael Owen paved the way for the Red Devils win.
Thiago scored for the Catalans in the 70th minute.
City won the Dublin Super Cup.
Man City destroyed both their opponents Airtricity 3-0 and Inter Milan 3-0.
City is for real folks.
Chelsea won the Asia Cup.
The Blues beat EPL rival Aston Villa 2-1.
My Gunners are in a world of hurt.
Once again the stupid defending rose up and bit us in the ass.
After Robin Van Persie scored 42nd minute to give us a 1-0 lead.
I thought great.
Then the wizards of stupid took over for Arsenal.
An own goal by Kyle Barton 84th minute gave of all clubs the MLS side the New York Red Bulls the Emirates Cup.
The Red Bulls defeated French side Paris St. Germain 1-0 on Saturday.
This sucks big time.
The Gunner nation could be in for a long hard assed season of heartbreak.
Wenger had this to say about the Arsenal’s crappy performance- It was a bit frustrating that it was only forwards against defence. They played very deep and didn’t come out. But it’s part of the game. I felt we looked quite stable as long as we were not making any disturbances in our organisation. The final 20 minutes were a bit like yesterday, you could see the continuity in our game went. Overall, I am very happy with the two days because we were confronted with two teams who were very committed, very physical and very strong defensively. We were tested. On both days, we played very well for an hour. We have nothing more to offer at the moment. Hopefully that will change in the next two weeks.
Arsene Wenger added this about Vermaelen and Koscielny-I felt the two centre backs were very good, in my opinion, and played very well. I am quite happy with the performance of the centre backs. If you look at the goal we conceded today, I don’t think it comes from the centre backs.
Asked about this results tells us – I don’t think you can compare friendly games. They played in the final third today. We weren’t playing in the championship where you have to win games. It’s not the same. Today they just had to keep it tight at the back and wait for their chances. They did very well but when you go into your championship and you are expected to make the game, to take the initiative, it becomes a different game.
Jack Wilshire was hurt in the puppy- It is not very serious. They say he might be out for the whole of next week because he has an ankle inflammation. But he has not torn anything. He is a quick healer usually and a tough boy so I hope he will be quicker than the medical predictions. The England game is on August 10 and I don’t know [whether he will be available]. They told me he might be out next week. If he is out next week, he will not play against Benfica so he will certainly not play for England.
All of this BS is fine and dandy in coach speak. In the real world it is bupkis- não serve para nada.
This is pure bull crap.
Gunner nation has heard all of this before.
It is SOS – Same old shit.
Wenger needs to go.
Arsenal has the same problems it did last year and the year before that and the year before that.
Need I say more.
I am tired of this garbage.
A change is needed at the top.
This is pure insanity.
Insanity means doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
The Gunners are nuts.

The United States and Mexico have a hot date in the finals of the CONCACAF tourney.
USA defeated Panama 1-0.
This was redemption time for Tim Howard and the boys.
Bob Bradley made two key moves in this match.
The first Bradley sat Landon Donovan until the late in the first half.
Actually the 45th minute.
This in turn opened up the U.S. attack.
Clint Dempsey was free to play his more nature position forward.
Dempsey didn’t have to worry about creating plays. He was thus allowed to roam and attack the box.
The second key move happened in 64th minute when Freddie Adu was inserted for Juan Audile.
With Adu pushing the ball up the right this opened up the entire pitch for Donovan and his mate Dempsey.
Adu set up the Americans only goal in the 76th minute.
The do the Freddie attacked the center of the box. Donovan was wide right.
Adu swung the ball wide to Donovan.
Buda bang, buda boom a goal for the guys and this sucker was over.
Dempsey slipped the shot past the helpless keeper.
This was a classic futebol play.
Think Man U or Barcelona.
The was only one tense moment in the match for Howard.
This came late in the match (83rd minute) when Panamanian Amilcar Henriquez Espinosa hit a nutcracker of the of shot.
Howard was able to tip the ball over the cross bar.
The difference in this baby was the USA attacked and played tight “D”.
Up next Mexico.
The Mexican side defeated Honduras 2-0.
This sucker was forced in to extra time after both clubs tied nil-nil at the end of regulation.
Chicharito scored in the 98th minute.
Jesus De Nigris found the mark in the 92nd minute.
