The weekend is here and you know what that means more EPL futebol action. The biggie happening later today is Man City at Norwich City. The Citizens need to come out swinging for the fences. Man City can’t afford another loss or tie against a second tier club.

Man U takes on Aston Villa on Sunday. This sucker is at Sir Alex and the Boys house Old Trafford. The Red Devils can’t afford to stub their toe against Villa. We will know how close the race will be between City and Man U. It could be as little as two points or stay the same when the mighty boys from Old Trafford take to the pitch on Sunday.

My guys from Arsenal have a hot date with Wigan on Monday. We need to set the record straight and win this sucker big time. A win will give us eight points clear of Spurs. Let’s remember Tottenham has a game in hand.

So lets nail those cats to wall and give Gunner nation something to scream about.

Flamengo pulled off their end of the bargain by beating Lanus 3-0. However Emelec scored a last second goal against Olimpia to win 3-2 and thus send Mengao crashing and burning out of the Copa Libertadores.

Rubro-negro has no one to blame for this stupidity but themselves. Flamengo gave up a late goal against Emelec and thus Mengao lost 3-2. This lost last week killed us.

Wigan did the unthinkable. The Wig guys beat Sir Alex and the Boys 1-0 for their first win against this storied club. This loss keeps the door open for Man City. The Citizens destroyed West Brom 4-0.

The Red Devils lead is cut to five points.

The Latics completely out played Man U. The mighty boys from Old Trafford stunk the joint out. This win may have saved the Wigs guys season. The win propels Wigan out of the bye-bye zone.

Shaun Maloney nailed the match winner in the 50th minute. Maloney lined this sucker up from just outside the top of the box.

My guys from Arsenal took care of business beating Wolves 3-0. Goals by Robin Van Persie, Yossi Benayoun, and Theo Walcott ripped the twines for my Arsenal guys.

Arsene Wenger was pleased with the result. All quotes taken from www.arsenal.com

“We started well and then had a situation where we could control the game. Did we push on or not? After that we played a bit with the handbrake on, they played deeper and defended like mad with a great spirit until the end of the game. If they keep that spirit then they still have a chance of staying in the league. On our part we controlled the game, although they actually had a spell in the second half where they created chances. Szczesny made a good save but after that it was a comfortable win.”

On being in the top three.

“I am very happy that we are in this position but I am also very cautious because some teams have been in that position before. We want to win our next game because where we have come from this season we must be focused. We have come from very deep and to stay in this position we have to focus on our next game.”

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-we-could-control-the-game-

Man U is top dog with 79 points. Man City is second with 74 and Arsenal is third with 64.

We have now some breathing room. Tottenham is fourth with 59 points.

Newcastle is fifth with 59 points também. Spurs are a plus 19. Toons are a plus eight.

This is what I love about the EPL. Anything can happen. This season has been one wild and crazy affair. First the moron pundits gave City the title way back in January. Man U was playing like crap and dropped two straight to start the New Year. The spread was fifteen points. Man U went on a run. Sir Alex and the boys took thirty-four out of thirty six points.

Man U played tired. They didn’t have the push to the attack. Wigan flat out outplayed em. Sir Alex took out his best players during midway point of the match. He knew the guys weren’t going to win. Was this a smart move? Yes. There are five matches left in the campaign.

Sir Alex and the Boys are still in the catbird seat.

Sir Alex was not happy with the refs. “We had one a couple of weeks ago against Fulham when they claimed for a penalty when the ball was drilled from close range at Patrice Evra. You’re never going to get those,” Ferguson told Sky Sports.

“But when the offender is 15 yards away it’s a different matter altogether. The linesman’s clearly in view of it so that was disappointing. It was a penalty kick.”

Sir Alex did say the guys had their butts kicked. “We were completely dominated by Wigan; by playing three centre-backs they had a lot of time to build from the back. We went against them a bit more in the second half, but in the first half we were dominated.

“It was an off-night that you sometimes get in football.”

Monday was one of those huge days in the EPL. One upset city and a comeback tie for Fulham against Chelsea. This tie that may have killed the Blues shot at a Champions League spot. The loss by Spurs could have murdered their chances of over taking my guys for third place and staying in the top four.

This is a good thing for Gunner nation.

Tottenham stunk the joint out losing to Norwich City 2-1. The Canaries just may have stuck a dagger in Spurs chances of hanging on to one of the final two Champions League spots. Norwich’s Anthony Perkins dented the scoreboard in the 13th minute to give the Canaries a 1-0 lead. Tottenham found the equalizer in the 33rd minute. Spurs Jermaine Defoe chipped a brilliant shot over the keeper John Ruddy to level this sucker at one all.

The Canaries nailed the match winner in the 66th minute. Elliot Bennett nailed a rocket through the entire Spurs back line to seal the deal for Norwich City. This brain knocker sent the Tottenham faithful home in a tizzy. This was Spurs seventh loss in their last eight matches. Spurs are on the downward slide to hell.

Fulham and Chelsea were engage in a cage match. Both sides traded their best Monday punches. The Blues scored first on questionable PK. The Cottagers Murphy made a clean but clumsy challenge in the 44th minute. Frank Lampard nailed the PK for a 1-0 Blues lead.

Fulham kept the pressure up until they cracked the Chelsea “D” in the 82nd minute. Clint Dempsey nailed a header to level this puppy at one all.

This tie may have cost the Blues a shot at third place.

Newcastle is alive and well. Toons shut out Bolton 2-0.

Everton destroyed Sunderland 4-0.

Aston Villa and Stoke City tied at one all.

The race for places three, four and five looks like this. My guys from Arsenal are third with 61. Tottenham is hanging on fourth place by the hair of their chinny chin chin with 59 points. Newcastle has 59 points também but Spurs are a plus 19. Toons are a plus eight. Chelsea is the odd man out in sixth place with 57 points.

Later today Blackburn and Liverpool will take to the pitch at the Rovers house.

Wednesday is when Man City, Man U, and my Gunners all will have huge fixtures.

When the dust settles we will see where we stand in the race for the last two Champions League spots and if Sir Alex and the Boys will wrap up the title.

After Wednesday there will be five matches left.

My guys stuck a fork in City’s title hopes. My Gunners defeated the Citizens 1-0. This sucker was huge for Gunner nation. Sure we don’t have any title hopes but this win gives Arsenal the inside track for third place.

The match winner came in the 87th minute. Mikel Arteta fired home the deathblow. This fatal shot has almost killed City’s chances of winning the EPL.

Arsenal had a several great chances but the woodwork saved the Citizens bacon twice.

Yaya Toure was removed from the match in the 17th minute when he and Alex Song’s knees clashed. Toure couldn’t continue and this hurt City’s chances.

Mario Balotelli should have been given the heave-hoe early in the match when he went studs up at Song’s knee. Super Mario the head case was given the heave-hoe in the 90th minute for his second yellow card.

This mortal loss coupled with Man U’s 2-0 win over QPR puts Sir Alex and the Boys eight points clear of second pace Man City with six matches left.

The win gives my Gunners a two-point lead over Tottenham.

Wenger said this about Arteta’s match winner. All quote taken from www.arsenal.com

“ It was a very well-taken goal. I think it gave us three points that we deserved because we had a consistent domination in the game. I think we had over 60 per cent possession. They had one or two good periods, Man City, but overall after 10 minutes in the second half it was all us.

I always felt the goal would come but it was very tight and in the end you feel it is important not to lose. But we kept going and at home recently we have produced some outstanding performances against any team. I am very happy that we got the win and the team continues to grow in quality.”

The boss man said this about the title race. And is it over? “Not completely. But there are six games to go and Man City are eight points behind so it makes their home game against Manchester United… they cannot afford to drop any points now. Once a team smells the stable they are difficult to catch in the final sprint.”

Will City catch Sir Alex and the Boys? No, I don’t think so, unless they give up, but I don’t think they will.”

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/42862/wenger-reaction

Wayne Rooney nailed a PK in the 15th minute. This foul in the box resulted in Queen’s Park Rangers Shaun Derry getting the heave-hoe. The red card changed the complexion of the match. From this point on it was balls to wall for the mighty boys from Old Trafford.

Paul Scholes dialed up a long-range missile in the 68th minute to seal the deal for Sir Alex and his chargers.

Man U was total control of this sucker from the outset. The Red Devils should have had at least three more goals but a couple of great saves by keeper by Patrick Kenny and the woodwork helped out immensely.

Man U is top dog with 79 points. City is second with 71. My Gunners are third with 61. Spurs are fourth with 59. Chelsea is fifth and Newcastle is sixth. Both sides have 56 points but the Blues are a plus 18 while Toons are a plus six.

The winless streak by Wigan at Stamford Bridge lives on. The Wig guys haven’t won at Chelsea’s house since 1980. The Blues get a lucky and beat the Latics 2-1.

Chelsea’s first goal by Branislav Ivanovic in the 62nd minute was clearly offsides. Wigan got the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Mohamed Diame dialed up a long-range bomb in the 82nd minute that leveled this sucker at one all. The Blues scored the match winner in the 90th minute plus three. Juan Mata rammed home the point blank rebound to give Chelsea the all-important three points. Mate Fernando Torres shot went kerr plunk off the left post.

The Chelsea win coupled with Tottenham and Sunderland one all tie creates a logjam for the final two Champions League spots.

Liverpool scored in the final moments on a goal by Luis Suarez gave the Reds a one all tie with Aston Villa.

The race for the two Champions League slots looks like this. Tottenham is in third place with 59 points. My Gunners are fourth with 58 but we have a huge match against City later today. Fifth place sits Chelsea with 56 points. Newcastle is sixth with 56. Chelsea is a plus 18. Toons are a plus six.

The race for the drop zone looks like this. Wigan had a chance to move out of the bye-bye zone but the loss against Chelsea cost em big time. The Wig guys are in 19th place with 28 points.

Wolves are at the butt end of the table.

Stoke pulled out a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton. This loss buried them with 22 points. Wolves will surely go bye-bye with only six matches left.

Blackburn is one step from safety with 28 points. The Rovers are a minus 24. The Rovers have Queens Park Rangers in their sights. QPR is in 17th place with 28 points.  The Hoops are a minus 19. QPR battles Man U later today and the Rovers hope they lose by six goals.

Toons shut out Swansea City 2-0. The victory moved Newcastle into fifth place with 56 points. This win puts a ton of pressure on Chelsea to come up with a win against lowly Wigan later today.

Spurs have a hot date with Sunderland at the Black Cats house. Tottenham is locked in a death fight with my Gunners for third and fourth place.

Arsenal and Man City hook up on Easter Sunday. This sucker will be a war at Emirates. City is fighting to win the title while my guys are fighting for a spot in the Champions League.

The Citizens have been reeling in their last five matches. Man City has won two, lost one and tied two. My Gunners have four out of their last five however our loss to QPR last week may have killed our chances to overtake City for second place.

The top three spots in the EPL earn the automatic berth. Fourth place earns you the right to qualify for the Champions League.

My Gunners, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle are fighting for three spots. One will be left out in the cold.

Man U takes on QPR at Old Trafford. The Red Devils will play the early match on Sunday so my Gunners and Man City will know the result needed. The needed result is a huge “W” for Gunner nation. Let’s stick a fork in Man City’s chances of winning the EPL.

After this weekend there are six matches left.

Wenger said this about the guy’s big MO heading into the match against Man City.  All quotes taken from www.arsenal.com

“In the last eight games we have won seven, so the momentum should still be there,” he said. “[The QPR result] was an interruption and a disappointment.

“We want to come back to our recent level, that means playing well and therefore winning the game.

“We are in a position now where we want to win our next game and show that it was only an interruption. We have a big game in front of us with two teams who want to win so it promises to be a very exciting match.”

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-we-still-have-our-momentum

We have a slim chance to overtake City but we must play great “D”. Against the Hoops the back line played the famous O Lay “D”. I got em. No you have em. O Lay into the back of the net.

My guys have a point to prove. We can earn a spilt with City. We lost to City 1-0 December 18th

We also have to remember we are in a knock down drag out fight with Chelsea, Newcastle, and Spurs for third place.

This is a must win for Wenger and the boys.

Manchester United proved why they can’t be counted out. Given up for dead at Christmas break Sir Alex and the Boys have kicked ass and taken names since their horrifying defeat at Old Trafford at the hands of Blackburn.

The Red Devils scored two late goals to defeat the Rovers 2-0 at Ewood Park.

Goals by Antonio Valencia in the 81st minute and Ashley Young in the 86th minute gave Man U a five-point lead over City.

Blackburn pressed Sir Alex and the Boys on a few occasions. Great keeping and defending by Man U kept the Rovers off the scoreboard.

The Red Devils are atop the leader board with 76 points. City has 71. The Citizens are a plus 50. Man U is a plus 49. Arsenal is third with 58. Spurs are fourth with 58. Chelsea is fifth with 53. Newcastle is sixth with 53.

At the butt end of the table sits Wolves with 22. Wigan is one step away from whale crap with 28. Blackburn is one-step away from the get outta jail free card with 28. QPR is safe for now with 28.

Goal difference for spots 17-19 is what separates these clubs. The Hoops are a minus 19. The Rovers are a minus 21 while the Wig guys are a minus 26.

Liverpool is falling off the face of the earth while Tottenham is slowly righting their ship. This is a tale of two sides going in opposite directions. Newcastle kicked the Reds butts 2-0. Spurs on the other hand destroyed Swansea City 3-1.

Emmanuel Adebayor hit the daily lotto twice. Mate Rafael Vander Vaart started Spurs off on the right foot with a blast in the 19th minute.

This was Tottenham’s first win in their last five matches.

Spurs and my Gunners are level on points with 58 but Arsenal is a plus 21 compared with Tottenham’s plus 20.

Arsenal is third and Spurs are fourth.

Liverpool has dropped three in a row and have lost have six out of their last seven matches.

Cisse led Toons with the daily double.

Newcastle is in sixth place with 53 points.

Toons and the Blues are level on points but Chelsea is a plus 17. Newcastle is only a plus four.

Liverpool has dropped to eighth place.

This is the skinny the 411. My guys from Arsenal sucked. My Gunners lost to QPR 2-1. City looked dead in the water but the Citizens scored two goals in the 85th and 86th minutes to earn a three all tie with Sunderland. The Blues almost blew it against Villa. Aston Villa scored two goals to level this sucker at two all however Chelsea scored two late goals to win 4-2.

Queens Park Rangers opened up the match with a strike in the 22nd minute. Adel Taarabt strike dead center of the box gave the Hoops the 1-0 lead. Clint Hill assisted on the goal.

Theo Walcott found the equalizer in the 37th minute. Walcott’s blast from point range leveled this puppy at one all.

QPR scored the match winner in the Samba Dialite in the 66th minute.

This win may have saved QPR’s season while the loss places my Gunners in the danger zone. With the Blues winning this cut the gap to five points.

Tottenham has a hot date with Swansea City later today. A Spurs win will put them level on points with my guys at 58. We have a plus 21. Spurs are a plus 18. If Tottenham rips the twines for a bunch of goals my Gunners will drop to fourth place.

City’s come from behind tie with the Black Cats keeps them close to Man U. This was the first blemish on the Citizens home record.  Man City was trying to become the second club since 1891-92 to be perfect at home. This means no ties or losses. The Black Cats were last team to do this.

Wigan picked up a huge 2-0 win over Stoke.

Wolves lost to Bolton 3-2.

Wolverhampton is whale dung 22.

The Wig guys and QPR each have 22 points. The Latics are a minus 26 while the Hoops are a minus 19.

The boys are back at it again today. Man City has a hot date with Tottenham at City’s house. Both sides have a ton to play for. City is in a knock down drag out battle with Man U for the title. Spurs are locked in a death in a match with my Gunners and Chelsea for third and fourth place in the EPL. The winner of third and fourth place gets a shot at the Champions League.

My Gunners are at the Hoops house today. This is a must win situation for the guys. Queens Park Rangers are in a fight for their very lives. QPR must win this sucker too if they want to avoid getting the heave-hoe.

These nine matches heading down the home stretch are high stakes poker at its best. It’s winner take all and the loser goes home for good.

Wenger said this about what the guys need to do.

“I see us fighting like mad to win the game. That is all I see, I don’t see further,” the Arsenal boss said.

“We are focused on QPR, believe me.

“We know that is always a tricky game for everybody and that is what is important to us.

“After that we focus on the next one and our capability to finish the season in a strong way depends on just how much we focus on every game.”

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/preview/_/id/318081?cc=5901

There is a possibility my Gunners could catch City. We trail city by 12 points but this means we would have to run the table and the Citizens would have to lose eight out of nine matches for the guys to have a shot at second place.

Wenger said this. All quotes taken from www.arsenal.com

“We will try to give our best,” said the Frenchman. “What we can hope for is to be third. We can be fourth, we can be fifth, we can be sixth – we want to be as high as possible and that depends on our consistency now.”
