Man U has booked their date with the dirty cheaters from Barca. Yes, this is the crème da crème of futebol clubs in the world.

Sir Alex and the boys scored two-second half goals to put away a pesky German side Schalke 04 4-1 and 6-1 aggregate.

Sure it was touch and go for a moment or two when Schalke cut the Red Devils lead 2-1 on a goal Jose Jurado in the 35th minute.

Sloppy and stupid defending by Man U caused the Jurado goal.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford rattled the cages on two-second half goals by Anderson (72nd & 76th minutes).

Antonio Valencia and Darron Gibson ripped the twines for Sir Alex and his mates.

Man U looked good but Sir Alex and the boys will have their hands full with Barcelona.

The Spanish side has real firepower and tremendous team speed.

The Red Devils have team speed to burn but Man U lacks some real Gatline gun firepower.

I can’t wait for this puppy.

The fun happens on May 28th at Wembley.

On a huge side note, Sir Alex made eight changes to the team that started against Arsenal last Sunday.

Sir Alex has his eye on the EPL prize.

Sir Alex had this to say- “They did me proud. It was a semi-final and the fact it’s such an important game does create a bit of doubt in your mind of ‘Am I doing the right thing?’ but I’m glad we were vindicated.

“It’s fantastic for the club. We’re where we want to be. I’ve said many times we should have done better in Europe over the years and I think this team can win the cup.”

Keeper Edwin van der Sar said this “perfect” demolition of Schalke. It was perfect, after the first leg we were quite well set up to be able to make changes and keep the majority of players fresh for the big game on Sunday.

“We saw how emotional Barcelona were yesterday and maybe our reaction was a bit more subdued but Barca’s was because they have a big rivalry (against Real Madrid).

“Barcelona play exceptionally good football and of course it’s going to be difficult, they showed that in the final in 2009. We have to show we learned the lesson from that one and be better prepared.”

Man U was absolute control of this sucker from the outset. Sir Alex and the boys secured a clean sheet against Fulham.

The score line 2-0 Red Devils win.

Goals by Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia were all the mighty boys from Old Trafford needed to get the big “W”.

Sure there was some tight moments for the Man U “D” but Vidic and the guys were able to slam the door shut.

Berbatov’s goal brings his league-leading total to 21.

Man U is still in the pole position with 69 points.

Everton took care of business. The Toffees destroyed lowly Wolverhampton 3-0.

Stick a fork in Wolves.

The heave-hoe zone has booked Wolves reservation.

The Blues kept their faint hopes of a repeat alive with a 1-0 win over bottom feeder Wigan.

A late goal Florent Malouda in the 67th minute was the difference.

Spurs defeated Stoke City 3-2.

Chelsea moves up to third place with 58 points.

Spurs stays in fifth place with 53 points.

City is in fourth place with 56 points.

Man City has a huge match with Liverpool later on Sunday at Anfield.

City needs to win this sucker if they want to move back into third place.

My guys from Arsenal battle Blackpool later on Sunday também.

Let the fun games continue.

Rangers stacked the “D” end of the pitch. This forced Man U to fight thru two layers of defenders. This tactic paid off handsomely for Rangers. This earned them a nil-nil draw with the mighty boys from Old Trafford.

Man U played at their house in the opening round of Group play in the Champions League.

Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Darren Fletcher were the only regulars who saw action on this night.

Sir Alex used mostly subs in this match.

Man U has a huge match against Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford.

The Reds have a history of sticking it the Red Devils.

The bad news was this Antonio Valencia broke his ankle in this puppy. He will miss at least two months or so.

Valencia is an up and coming young star of the Red Devils.

SIDE NOTE:

This bullshit has to stop. Too many players are going down like flies.

There needs to be a players union to stand up and stop FIFA and the futebol clubs from grinding players into the ground and force these idiots to have a sane schedule of matches.

Until the players stand up and stop this crap, this garbage will continue to happen.

Form a players union and force management to reduce the number matches played during a season.

Futebol needs a Curt Flood.

BACK TO THE ACTION:

Man U controlled the match but they couldn’t crack the code.

Tottenham on the other hand jumped to an early two goal lead at Werner Bremen however the home side came back and scored two goals to earn a two all tie with Spurs.

Tottenham was missing two of their key players Jermain Defoe and Luka Modric.

Modric’s leg was not broken.

This is good news for Spurs.

Harry me Boy you are learning about life at the top of the EPL.

Experience is hard teacher. You get the task first and the lesson later.

Spurs should have earned the full three points.

Not on this night for Werner Bremen came back to earn the draw.

The Community Shield is the signal that the EPL season is one week away.

Oh, yes, what a glorious week leading up the start of the season it is.

August 14th is set to kickoff the season.

Manchester United battled archrival Chelsea at Wembley Sunday afternoon.

At stake the Community Shield title.

Both sides threw their best Sunday punches at each other.

In the end, Man U defeated the Blues 3-1.

The Blues and Man U looked in top form.

This will spell trouble for the rest of the EPL.

Rooney set up the Reds first goal.

The Rooney man fired a perfect cross to mate Antonio Valencia.

Valencia deposited the ball into the back of the net in the 41st minute.

The Blues kept up the pressure in the second half but they couldn’t crack the code.

Man U Javier Hernandez nailed a perfect shot first off his face and then into the back of the net to give the Reds a 2-0 lead in the 75th minute.

Valencia set it with a great dribble drive down the right side of the pitch.

This push forced the Chelsea “D” to break down and give Hernandez a path to the open net.

Kalou scored in the 75th minute to cut the Reds lead to 2-1.

Sturridge fired a blast from 25 yards out.  Man U’s Edwin Vander Sar blocked the initial shot.

Shot. Rebound. Score.

The Blues ratcheted up the pressure.

Zippo. Nada.

The waste of a striker Dimitar Berbatov scored in the 92nd minute to seal the deal.

Berbatov played with the Blues “D” before he forced the keeper Henrique Hilario to leave his line. Berbatov flipped the Lolly Pop shot over Hilario’s head into the back of the net.

Game, set, and match to Man U.

Hopefully Berbatov will score this year instead of stinking the joint like he did last year.

The EPL starts for real Saturday August 14th.

I can’t wait.

The NFL can go screw itself.

My beloved Flamengo has a huge match with Corinthians coming up later on Sunday.

Timao is in second place with 25 points.

Mengao is hovering in tenth place.

Rubro-Negro is playing like crap.

We can’t find the back of the net with a machine gun or a Howitzer.

Flamengo needs help.

We need to win this sucker.

A loss or a tie is out of the question.

Mengao has two wins, one loss, and four draws on the road.

Pacaembu is hard place to play.

Manchester United had their entire season riding on the line in this match against West Ham at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

This was one of those matches if the Red Devils lost you can surely stick a fork in their season and their chances of a four peat.

Man U came away with a hard fought 3-0 win over West Ham.
Wayne Rooney hit for the daily double.

Both of Rooney’s goals were a thing of beauty.  The Wayne man nailed a point blank header in the 38th minute. A great cross into the goal area by Antonio Valencia set up this goal.

The Rooney man and Valencia teamed up again in the 55th minute for a repeat performance.  Valencia fired another perfect ball into the goalmouth. Rooney nailed the close range header.

Michael Owens goal in the 80th minute was the icing on the cake for Man U.

Paul Scholes set up Owen’s goal with a great through ball.

The only bad news is that Brasilian Anderson wrenched his knee. We don’t know the seriousness of the injury. After an MRI Man U will find out how bad it really is.

Man U is almost unbeatable at home yet when the Red Devils hit the road they can’t win to save their lives.

Man U jumped out to an early 1-0 against Everton. Then the unthinkable happened the Toffees put the screws to the Red Devils by scoring the next three goals to win 3-1.

This was the first time Man U lost a match after they scored first.

The Red Devils are 12-1-1 at home and 7-2-5 on the road.

Man U cut Chelsea’s lead to one point.

Chelsea has 61 points. The Red Devils have 60. My guys Arsenal have 55.

Both Chelsea and the Gunners have huge encounters coming up on Saturday and Sunday.

The Blues battle Man City at home in Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Arsenal takes an all important road trip to Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City on Sunday.

We have to win this sucker.

Arsenal cannot afford a slip up.

Three points are a must.

The title is in sight for Arsenal.

Six points are not that big of a difference.

All we have to do hold serve at home and win sixty percent of our matches on the road.

With ten matches left after Sunday the Blues will surely lose at two maybe three, more matches.

Lets talk about two classic big time rear end kicking’s that two of the top clubs in the EPL administered to Portsmouth and Wigan. The Gunners slaughtered Pompey 4-1. Man U destroyed Wigan 5-0.

All I can say is. This is about time guys.

A huge way to go garoto goes out to Arsenal and Manchester United.

You gotta love it.

Eduardo led things off for the Gunners in the 27th minute. Eduardo’s rocket of a free kick went bing, bam, boom, off the wall and into the net. The entire Pompey team was utterly helpless.

Nasri proved he has some zing in his step. Nasri tripped the twines in the 42nd minute.

I just loved the last two goals by the Wenger guys.

Aaron Ramsey went zip da do da through three Pompey defenders. He let fly with a wicked hot-shot that flat-out beat the keeper Samir Begovic in the 69th minute.

Song’s goal was one of the best goals I have seen in a long time. The Gunners literally toyed with Portsmouth. Arsenal held possession of the rock for more than two minutes before Song’s header ripped the twines in the 81st minute.

This build up made the Pompey “D” look like school children.

All in all this was a great match for the Gunners except for slight hiccup when Portsmouth scored on a wonderful goal by Nadir Belhadi in the 74th minute.

Where has this display of offensive been Man U?

Finally, the boys from Old Trafford woke up and bombarded the nets for five of those bad boys.

Wayne Rooney took it to the rack in the 28th minute. Wham Bam thank you my dear lady.

The floodgates soon opened and there was no stopping the Red Devils.

Get this Carrick rammed home a shot in the 32nd minute.

Rafael created just enough space between him and the defender to find the back of the net in the 45th minute.

The Fat lady is warming up.

Then Berbatov scored. Yep, you heard me right Dimitar Berbatov found the net in the 50th minute.

Wayne Rooney’s great ball set up the golden opportunity for the Berbatov man.

Antonio Valencia finished off the hit parade in the 75th minute.

This was all she wrote.

Turn out the lights the party’s over.

Now we have a race for the title. This is gonna be tighter than a par of Don Alvarzoe’s tweezers. Hint Jerry Lewis routine in the 1960’s.

The EPL is done with until next year. Okay it’s only one day away but who’s counting. So shoot me why don’t ya.

Chelsea is top dog with 45 points. Man U is in second place with 43 points. The Gunners are third 41 points. Spurs are fourth 37 points.

There are eights points of separation between the top four clubs.

The EPL and FIFA World Club Cup are on tap for today. This is a good mixture of futebol for us on this fine day. Sports Memorabilia and Luci Now Com-e Cigarettes bring my blog to you.

Estudiantes was locked in deadly nil-nil draw with the Pohang Steelers in the semi-finals of the FIFA World Club Cup.

The Pohang Steelers were hanging in there with the superior Argentinean side then a dumb challenge by Pohang’s Jung Kim in the 45th minute created the opportunity Estudiantes needed to take a choke hold on this match.

Whamo. Bam. Match changer time. Free kick. The ball was lifted high into the air. Bing. Header.  Nothing but the back of the net. 1-0 Estudiantes. Leandro Benitez’s head ticks the winner to send this match spinning out of control.

This goal took all the steam out of the Pohang Steelers sails.

Estudiantes put the match out of reach when Leandro Benitez hit the daily double in the 53rd minute. This made 2-0 Estudiantes.

Estudiantes Enzo Perez lobbed the ball over the keeper. Benitez was left free near the left post. Pohang defender Kim Jae-sung lost Benitez. Benitez ripped the ball that went boom off the left post and went flying into the back of the net.

Pohang made it very interesting in the 70th minute. Denilson Martins Nascimiento ripped home the close range winner to make it 2-1 Estudiantes.

Three Pohang Steelers got the heave-hoe.

Pohang’s headman Brasileiro Sergio Farias alluded to the fact that the fix may have been in.

From what I saw, no way Jose was the fix in. The Pohang Steelers played dirty futebol.

Estudiantes has their spot booked in the 2009 FIFA World Club Cup final.

We will know on Wednesday who their dance partner will be. It will be either Barcelona or Atlante.

If I were a betting man, the other finalist would be… I will give you three guess and the first two don’t count.

Aston Villa took care of business in Sunderland’s house the Stadium of Light. Villa breezed to a 2-0 win over Sunderland.  Heskey found the back of the net in the 24th minute to give Villa a 1-0 lead.

James Milner sealed the deal in the 61st minute. Milner ripped the shot past the keeper Fulop that put Villa up 2-0. This was all she wrote.

Game, set, and match to Villa.

Villa looks like they are making at run at a league leaders Manchester United and Chelsea.

Villa moves into third place with 32 points.

United righted their wobbly ship by thrashing lowly Wolves 3-0. Rooney started off the goal parade for Manchester United.

Ronald Zubar gave the Red Devils a gift goal. There was no pressure what so ever on Zubar. He made a bone headed play. All he had to do was head the ball out of danger. But no dumbo punched the ball out. Maybe he thought he was playing volleyball. This was a no-no. It was PK time. Up stepped Rooney. Bam. The back of the net was ripped. It is 1-0 Manchester United after thirty minutes.

Man U applied more pressure on Wolverhampton. In the 43rd minute Darron Gibson fired a corner kick right on the button. Vidic ripped the header from dead center of the box to make it 2-0 Red Devils.

You can now stick a fork in Wolves for they are surely done.

Valencia nailed the right-footed winner in the 66th minute to give Man U a huge 3-0 win over Wolverhampton.

The win moves Manchester United into a first place tie with Chelsea in the EPL.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea will play on Wednesday night.

Both of these squads know what result is needed. A loss by either side would be disastrous.
