Mengao stunk the joint at Maracanã on Wednesday night in a 3-2 loss to Universidad de Chile.

The score was closer than the game indicated. Chile jumped out an early 2-0 lead. Both of the Chilean goals were gimmie goals.

Stupid defending by the Flamengo “D” created both.

The press and the fans want to hang this on keeper Bruno.

Globo Esporte wrote this story about Mengao keeper Bruno. The fans were screaming at him instead of the crappy Flamengo defense.

Contra o Caracas, beijinho irônico. Desta vez, os gestos de deboche vieram acompanhados de um direto de Bruno à torcida do Flamengo. Na saída de campo após a derrota por 3 a 2 para o Universidad de Chile, o goleiro não resistiu às provocações.
Primeiro surgiu o grito: “Ei, Bruno vai tomar no c…”. Ele reagiu colocando as mãos na orelha e pedindo mais alto. Então, os torcedores que estavam nas cadeiras inferiores começaram a lembrar de Julio César, goleiro da seleção brasileira e ídolo rubro-negro.
Estou me lixando para eles.

These are the facts. Each on one of the Universidad de Chile goals was easy walk in goals. Mengao’s Swiss cheese “D” made keeper Bruno a sitting duck.

The headman Rogeiro Lourenço must take responsibility for Rubro-Negro’s stinky play. Mengao was not prepared to play.

Since Andrade was fired, Mengao has played like crap.

The blame for this rests squarely on the President of Flamengo’s shoulders.

UOL made this excuse for Mengao by stating the situation is complicated- A complicada situação do Flamengo na Copa Libertadores, ao perder no Maracanã por 3 a 2 para a Universidad do Chile pelas quartas de final, não deverá fazer com que o técnico Rogério Lourenço poupe a equipe no Brasileirão. Desta forma, a perspectiva é de time completo para o confronto deste sábado contra o Vitória, no Barradão.

Após a derrota para os chilenos nesta última quarta-feira, o treinador adiantou no vestiário que deverá escalar força máxima, ao contrário do que ocorreu na estreia da competição nacional. No empate por 1 a 1 diante do São Paulo, no último domingo, o treinador poupou cinco atletas.

 Before Rubro-Negro knew what hit them Univerisdad de Chile was up 2-0 after the 24^th minute.

Adriano nailed a header in the 38^th minute to cut the gap 2-1 at halftime. I thought we had a chance when we Univerisdad de Chile’s Manuel Iturra was given the heave-hoe in the 45^th minute however an easy walk short handed goal by Chile’s Alvaro Fernandez in the 47^th minute stuck a fork in our chances to pull our chestnuts out of the fire.

No such luck

All in all Mengao played like crap.

We deserved to lose big time.

We did.

I think it is going to be a long season for us Flamenguistas.

Flamengo and Corinthians are ready to have at it in the first round of the Copa Libertadores knockout stage on Wednesday night.

The two fading superstars will take center stage on Wednesday night at Maracanã.

UOL had these words of wisdom-Não foi uma terça-feira como outra qualquer na Gávea. Além disso, no campo, o tradicional rachão disputado pelos jogadores começou mais tarde.Isso porque o novo treinador Rogério Lourenço realizou, mesmo que por apenas 15 minutos, um treino tático. Antes, por dez minutos, conversou com todo o elenco no centro do gramado. O rachão, tão esperado pelos jogadores, só ocorreu no fim, depois de muito treinamento de bola parada.

We need to win big time. The return leg will be set at Corinthians house.

Mengao is a team in transition. Andrade walked away or better yet, he was flat out fired.

New Flamengo Prez Patricia Amorim has made a fine mess of things since she took over about a year ago.

The entire Rubro-Negro organization is in a mess. This is not the way to enter the new season. Mengao has lost several top officials since the idiot Patricia Amorim started to assert her power.

Foray da salad de impress, um encorme número de conselheiros e beneméritos, todos engravatados, circulava livremente pelo departamento de futebol. Com a saída de Marcos Braz (vice de futebol) e Eduardo Manhães (diretor de futebol), a presidente Patrícia Amorim ainda não escolheu um nome para os cargos e existe muita especulação na Gávea, que, em meio à decisões, vive conturbado clima político.

We won the title last year and now this new season looks like it will be a long and hard one.

Adriano is too busy partying with his buds in the Favela. His girl friend is nuts. This has had a huge effect on the way the Emperor has prepared for the season.

Petkovic had a huge run in with management. It looks like this situation is behind him.

He got Andrade to quit or better yet fired.

If this season turns to crap because of stupid decisions made by management all us Flamenguistas will be royally pissed.

I know this Flamenguista will be.

I am not holding my breath.

We will find real quick if all these changes will work out.

I can’t believe this BS. Mengao wins the Campeonato. We had the futebol world by the balls and now Rubro-Negro finds a way to screw it up.

Adriano is fat and out of shape. Petkovic was fighting with headman Andrade.

Flamengo named a new president. She is slowly running Mengao into the ground.

We lost to Botafogo in the Copa de Rio Finals now this.

Andrade said screw this crap and stepped down. I don’t blame him.

Mengao faces arch-rival Corinthians in the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores.

Mano Menezes is the new head honcho at Flamengo. He said he is willing to work with the players and the fans to get through his difficult situation. This situation is a huge distraction.

Teoricamente, sim (problemas extracampo atrapalharem o Flamengo). Mas sabemos que o futebol tem uma força própria de grupo. Não temos a ilusão de encarar um Flamengo mais frágil. Vou trabalhar a cabeça dos nossos jogadores para a força do Flamengo e de sua torcida. Teremos que trabalhar muito para chegar às quartas de final – disse o treinador após o amistoso contra o Botafogo, neste domingo, no Engenhão.

All of this crap comes at the worse possible time. Mengao’s defense of Campeonato title begins in a few weeks.

Only at Flamengo and Philadelphia can this BS happen after winning a title.

Go figure.

Mengao can blame the ref for not showing the exit to Botafogo’s Fahel but it all comes down to this. If you waste scoring chances and you play defense like a little old lady you will surely lose.

This is exactly what happened to Flamengo in the semifinals of the Taça Guanabara Wednesday night at Maracana.

Flamengo lost to hated foe Botafogo 2-1. Am I sad?  Does a chicken have lips? Does the Pope shit in the woods?

Give me a break. In a span of ten hours on Wednesday, both of my teams have stunk the joint out.

Arsenal decided to play like Monty Hall and Let’s Make a Deal.  Maybe the Gunners were trying to out do Arsenio Hall. This is what I know for sure. This Keystone Cop routine has to stop.

Maybe Arsenal and the Philadelphia Eagles should join forces and shoot themselves in the foot.

Mengao jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. Rubro-Negro made a great steal in their defensive end of the pitch. In flash Flamengo rammed the ball down the pitch. In a matter of moments, Pacheco beat two defenders. He walked the ball into the back of the net in the 25^thminute to give us Flamenguistas a 1-0 lead.

I thought Jeez, Mengao is sure looking good.

This was not the case. Adriano and Vagner Love wasted at last six scoring opportunities between them.

Waste not want not was what my mother always told me. For if, you waste scoring chances this will come back and bite you in the butt.

This sure did.

Fogao fired a great long ball into the far edge of the box. A header into the goalmouth.  A shot on goal. Blocked by Bruno. Rebound. One timer by Cordeiro into the back of the net. We are all even at one all in the 34^th minute.

Bruno looked like he was making windmills on the rebound shot.

Mengao decided to take a siesta in the long free kick by Botafogo. The ball is perfectly placed near the top edge of the box. A header to Canedo. He literally walks past two Flamengo defenders and a dumb struck Bruno in the 84^thminute to salt this baby away for Botafogo.

Fogao wins 2-1.

Mengao is sent home packing

What a way to ruin a perfectly good Wednesday for me.

It could have been worse.

A sportswriter once asked former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach John McKay,” How about your teams execution?” McKay replied, “ I am in favor of it.”

Maybe Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and Flamengo’s Andrade are in favor of their team’s execution as well too.

The snow wrecked havoc with the EPL matches on Sunday. But don’t despair for we have my favorite Brasileiro futebol to talk about.

The Copa Sao Paulo is about to wrap up the group stage. Figueirense and Juventude advanced to the next round.  Figueirense defeated Desportivo Brasil 1-0. Juventude doubled up Vila Nova-GO 2-1.

The big boys are getting ready to kick off the season. Flamengo, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, and the rest are gearing up for the start of the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa Rio.

Duque de Caxias took on the under twenty squad from Fluminense in a scrimmage. Caxias defeated Fluminense young cats 2-1.

Caxias coach Alvaro Miranda liked what he saw from his squad in their first scrimmage of the year.

Palmeiras striker Wagner Love will be headed to Flamengo. However, Russian Club CSKA is asking compensation from Palmeiras. We will see if this baby goes through or not.

This addition will give Mengao more firepower up front.

Imagine Adriano and Love firing bullets at the goal. You gotta love it. Us Flamenguistas will be in hog heaven with this duo up front. Couple this with Petkovic and Obina this will give Rubro-Negro a deadly strike force.

Mengao headman Andrade is worried about some key losses in the Flamengo midfield. Maldonado is out with a serious knee injury.

Airton will miss most of the season because of World Cup duty for his native Chile.

This could hurt but we will see.

Coach Al plans to use Fernando Petkovic, Lenon, and Williams as midfielders. 

Fluminense took on Rio Branco is a scrimmage. Fireworks flew in this baby as Po-de-arroz headman Cuca was given the heave-hoe. Fluminense won 2-0.

Fred and Mauricio scored both goals for Po-de-arroz.

So there, you have it from the far side.

One last parting shot.

Landon Donovan’s debut with Everton was a huge success. I was pleasantly surprised. Donovan had an assist and nearly scored as well. Way to go garoto.
