River Plate finally got off the schnid with a huge 1-0 win over San Lorenzo in the Clausura on Thursday March 4^th. Facundo Affranchino ripped the twines in the 69^th minute to secure the win for Los Millonarios.

This was River’s first win in three weeks in the Clausura.

With the victory, Los Millionaires move up to tenth spot with nine points.

Boca Juniors and Velez Sarsfield had a good old-fashioned shoot out on Tuesday March 2^nd.

Both sides drew at four all.

Gary Medel scored the equalizer for Los Xeneizes in the 89^th minute.

Santiago Silva put Sarsfield up 4-3 in the 82^nd minute off a wicked strike that flat out beat the keeper.

Boca currently sits in 12^th place in Clausura with eight points

Banfield took care of business on Thursday March 4^th   by soundly thrashing Colon 3-1. Ramirez had for the daily double (13, 90) and Garcia ripped the twines in the 32^nd minute to put Colon out of their misery.

Bichi Fuertes added a cosmetic goal off a great free kick in the 86^th minute for the Sabaleros’.

Sapito-little toad-Encina hit the match winner in the 86^th minute to lift Gimnasia LP past Chacarita.

Godoy sits atop the Clausura with 15 points. Independiente is second with 14 and Banfield is third with 13.

The EPL has two huge matches that will take place on Saturday.

They will go a long way in determining who will win the EPL.

We have a hot date at home with Burnley.

The Gunners will expect Arshavin, Denilson, and Abou Diaby to be ready to play for us in this all-important encounter at Emirates Stadium.

We need to kick butt and take names.

Three points are a must for Arsenal. 

Chelsea will have a game in hand. This is due to the fact that the Blues have a quarterfinal FA Cup match with Stoke City.

Manchester United takes a little road trip to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton.

The Red Devils are struggling mightily on the road. Last road outing on February 20^th the boys from Old Trafford had their butts handed to them by Everton 3-1.

Man U stinks on the road.

Man U will be without the services of Michael Owens and Wayne Rooney. Owens will be out for the season with a bad hamstring. Rooney will miss due to a bad wheel.  His knee is in bad shape.

Wolves are currently in 17^th place with 24 points. Wolverhampton is one-step away from getting the heave-hoe.

Hull City has 24 points too.

The only thing that is saving their sorry season is Wolverhampton has a better goal difference than Hull City.

Wolvers are a minus 24 while Hull City is a minus 29.

On Tuesday Man City took care of business by shutting out Bolton 2-0. Tevez ripped the twines in the 31^st minute on a well-placed PK. Adebayor netted a goal in the 73^rd minute.

This win keeps City in touch for the race for the final Champions League slot.

City has 44 points.

Let’s get to the good stuff.  Man U and Aston Villa are tied one all at half. Villa found the back of the net first in the 19^th minute. The Red Devils “D” fell asleep on a corner kick. Man U miss played an easy ball that allowed Villa’s Carlos Cuellar to noodle home the winner.

The Red Devils found the answer in the 23^rd minute. Nani fired a wicked crossing ball into the box. Giggs gathered that puppy in from just outside the left post. Giggs fired. Whamo, bamo, the ball slams off of Villa defender James Collins. It’s in the back of the net. Own goal by Collins. It’s all knotted at one all.

Nani makes a really stupid move in the 29^th minute. He makes a dumb challenge on a ball in the Villa offensive end of the pitch. Nani attacked the ball low with studs up and the ref gave him the heave-hoe.

I think it should have been a yellow but I can see why the ref gave him the red.

This could be the match changer. Time will tell.

There are forty-five minutes left.

Chelsea and Bolton are one all at the half. The Blues have had a ton of trouble on the road.

Liverpool and my Gunners are tied zero-zero at the break.

Arsenal’s Bendtner had the best scoring opportunity of the match in the 26^th minute. He just could not pull the trigger. This could come back and bit us in the butt. We will see.

Finally we scored. After several near misses and bad finishing skills, Abou Diaby nailed the header in the 72^nd minute. Rosicky set up the goal with sublime cross.

Arsenal is up 1-0.

Man U and Aston Villa are still deadlocked at one all. The Red Devils have had most of the possession in the second half. Man U just missed on at least three scoring chances. All of them were by Wayne Rooney.

Not bad for being a man down.

Chelsea and Everton are tied at one all as well.

It is all over but the shouting. Man U hangs on to tie Aston Villa at Villa Park one all.

This is a huge result. The Red Devils were able to take it to Villa throughout most of the second half.

Yes, it is all over. Arsenal beats Liverpool 1-0.

A huge way to garoto to the guys at Arsenal.

This was a huge three points.

Everton went ahead of Chelsea 2-1 in the 75^th minute. Louis Saha rifled a shot dead center of the box. This shot ripped the twines.

Saha has hit for the daily double for the Wanderers. Louis Saha scored in the 33^rd minute. He had a chance for the hat trick but Saha missed a gimmie PK in the 45^th minute.

Landon Donovan was clearly tackled in the box.

I hope you doubting Gunners fans like apples.

Chelsea lost on the road to Bolton 2-1.

How do you like them apples?

Ain’t it great.

It is still a race for the EPL title after all. All you Gunners nay sayers who were saying it was all over are flat out wrong.

Especially you Frank Lampard who said Arsenal, you are dead in the water.

Not so, fast bucko.

Tottenham lost to Wolves 1-0.

West Ham shut out Birmingham 2-0.

The smoke has cleared.

Chelsea is still first place with 58 points. Man U is second with 57. Arsenal is third with 52. Both Liverpool and Man City have 44 points but the Reds have a better goal difference than City. Liverpool is in fourth place with a plus 16 while City is in fifth place with a plus 15.

Spurs are sixth with 43 points.

Oh what a crazy day.

Manchester United and Arsenal got what they wanted. A big time “W” baby. The Gunners and Man U have narrowed the gap between them and league leader Chelsea.

The mighty boys from Old Trafford finally got on the scoreboard by beating lowly Hull City 3-1.

Man U pressed the attack from the opening bell. The Red Devils received their just rewards in injury time of the first half. Berbatov send the ball into the goal crease. Fletcher gathers the ball and fires another pass into the goalmouth. Giggs whiffs and Rooney nails the winner for a 1-0 Man U lead at the break.

The Tigers scored the equalizer in the 59^th minute.

Wayne Rooney made a horrible backward pass in the box. Hull City’s Jozy Altidore gobbled up the ball. This forced Rafael to tackle him. Craig Fagan nailed the PK to level the match at one all.

Rooney redeemed himself in the 73^rd minute. The Wayne man fired a great ball at the goal. Hull City defender Andy Dawson had only one option. Bamo!  Into the back the net. Man U gets the break they needed. 2-1 The Red Devils are up.

Dimitar Berbatov finally tickled the twines in the 82^nd minute for a 3-1 United lead.

Game, set, and match to the Red Devils.

A much need win. A good win? Yes.

This was a huge road win.

Road wins translate into championships.

Arsenal destroyed Aston Villa 3-0.

Villa was coming off a huge win. Aston Villa destroyed Man U the previous week.

Cesc Fabregas scored two second half goals to lead the Gunners to the utter destruction of Villa.

Abou Diaby scored in the 81^st minute to seal the deal.

This win was huge for Arsene Wenger’s gang. This was a must win. The Gunners couldn’t afford to fall more points behind league leaders Chelsea.

The Blues have had their chances to really put this title race out of reach.

Chelsea has had one win in their last five matches.

This is a total of twelve points lost.

Not good garoto.

Chelsea is in the pole position with 42 points. Man U is second with 40 points. Arsenal is third with 38 points. Villa is in fourth place with 35 points. Spurs are fifth with 34 points.

Eight points separate the top five clubs.

With matches on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week the race for the title will get tighter.
