De Futebol
It is week two in the EPL. Chelsea looked good in their first week stomp over newly promoted West Brom.
The Blues looked good but please remember they are on the downhill slide of forty. This means Drogba, and the rest are inching closer to thirty. This means the good ole bod begins to break down more.
The Blues have a hot date with Wigan on Saturday.
This should be a good one.
Wigan is at home.
Manchester United battles Fulham at Craven Cottage.
This will be a good one. The Cottagers have a habit of sticking it to the Red Devils.
My guys from Arsenal have a huge one against newly promoted Blackpool.
The Seasiders upset Wigan 4-0 last weekend.
This was their first win in the EPL since 1971.
Will this happen at Emirates?
No way Jose, the Gunners will kick some major butt.
We are on a mission to win the EPL.
At home, Arsenal is almost unbeatable.
Next.
The biggie happens on Monday when City battles Liverpool at the City of Manchester Stadium.
This will be a classic head knocker, gangbanger affair.
Katie bar the door on this sucker for it will be a battle royal.
Both sides need to pick up the “W”.
Two weeks in and some real nutcrackers.
I love it.
This is what makes the EPL so much fun.
On a side note, bring back Steven Cohen and Nick Geber on FOX.
Ever since these cats who created Fox Football Fone left or were forced to leave, the idiots at the FOX Soccer channel have taken a perfectly good show and killed it.
What made Nick and Steven so much fun to watch was they were Englishmen first of all and second they knew EPL futebol from both the fans perspective and the professional perspective as well.
Nick Webster and the former ESPN clown Eric Wynalda killed it.
Who gives a crap about the MLS and what the players think.
This show was built for the fans of futebol like me.
Thanks Nick, Eric, and the idiots at FOX Soccer Channel for killing a great show.
De Futebol
Internacional took care of business at Porto Alegre. Colorado took it to Chivas 3-2 to win the Copa Libertadores.
Chivas scored the first goal of the match in the 42nd minute. Fabian ripped the twines for a 1-0 Guadalajara lead.
The opening marker by Fabian sent shock waves through the fans at Porto Alegre.
Globo Esporte put it this way- Não podia ser verdade.
Internacional was unfazed by this and went on a run scoring the next three goals in succession to put this baby out of reach.
Rafael Sobis goal in the 61stminute righted the ship for Internacional.
Leandro Damiao scored the goal ahead goal in the 75th minute.
Giuliano scored the match winner in the 89th minute.
Game, set, and match to Internacional.
Chivas added a cosmetic goal in the final moments to make it a respectable 3-2 final score.
Internacional has already advanced to the FIFA World Cup Finals due to the fact the Guadalajara is a member of CONCAF and therefore can’t win the South American Copa Libertadores title.
This is the second Copa title for Brasilian side Internacional.
Colorado won the title in 2006 when Internacional beat archrival Sao Paulo 4-3.
Colorado made it to the Copa Libertadores finals in 1980 but they lost to Uruguayan side Nacional 1-0.
Kudos to Internacional for winning the Copa Libertadores.

Harry Redknapp and the boys from Tottenham are finding out how hard it is to play the EPL and Champions simultaneously.
Welcome to life at the top of the EPL table.
Man U, Chelsea, and my Gunners are used to this grind.
This is why Spurs played above their heads last year.
This year Tottenham came crashing down to earth.
Spurs lost to Young Boys 3-2 in the Champions league playoff round.
Tottenham started out like crap. Before Spurs knew it, they fell behind 3-0 before rallying to make the final score a respectable 3-2.
Spurs picked those all-important two away goals.
The second leg will be played next Wednesday at White Hart Lane.
Spurs need to win this sucker. If not Tottenham will not make it to the group stage of the Champions League.
Goals by Sebastien Bassong and Roman Pavlyuchenko gave Spurs a fighting chance to advance to the next round.
Win baby win. This is what it is.
Welcome to the big leagues Harry.
In the Campeonato Flu is top dog with 32 points.
Corinthians is in second place with 28 points.
Timao lost to Avai 3-2.
This loss cost Corinthians big time.
Avai stayed put in third place with 22 points.
Flamengo moved up to seventh place by virtue of the 1-0 win over Ceara.
Botafogo is in fourth place with 21 points.
Sao Paulo is in deep do-do. Tricolor is buried in 13th place with 17 points.
Sao Paulo pulled out a huge two all draw with Cruzeiro.
Vasco is in 9th place with 20 points.
We’ll talk more EPL and Campeonato tomorrow.
De Futebol
The more things change the more they stay the same. Manchester United kicked Newcastle’s backside 3-0.
The Red Devils showed that they are fit and ready to win the EPL crown.
Finally, a waste of striker Dimitar Berbatov did something this year that he didn’t do last year find the back of the net.
Berbatov scored the first goal in 33rd minute.
He drilled a wicked shot.
Berbatov’s shot was one of this hard angled into the far left corner of the net.
Good show Berbatov.
Now keep it up dude.
Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs each made it to the scorebook.
Man U looked really impressive in the win over newly promoted Magpies.
The only downer was The Rooney Man did trickle the twines.
Rooney’s goal less streak has now reached 13 matches.
I still think Rooney is one tired puppy due to all the matches he has played the last two years.
Rooney is broke down and needs rest.
Rested Rooney will become a dynamic scorer again.
This a good start for the mighty men from Old Trafford.
Up next is a hot date with Fulham Sunday August 22nd.
De Futebol
Flamengo stopped their three match winless streak with a lucky 1-0 win over Ceara.
Mengao’s offense was non-existent in the win.
The only saving grace was a PK awarded when Rubro-Negro’s Williams made a mad rush into the box. This push forced Anderson to foul Williams in the 44th minute.
Petkovic nailed the PK for the only tally of the match.
Game, set, and match to Flamengo.
We picked up a much-needed win but if we don’t find a way to rip the twines, more often Flamengo is in deep do-do.
Marcelo Lomba played well in goal.
He made three key stops in the match.
Newly signed Leandro Amaral and Renato Abreu played like crap. This was another one of those horrible signings by chief idiot Patricia Amorim. This lady needs to be fired.
She sucks big time.
Get a real futebol Prez not a fake one.
The points were important.
Mengao has moved up the table.
Flamengo now has 20 points.
But we need to sign a real striker not guys from the geriatric ward.
Flamenguista for life.
De Futebol
Our road woes continue.
We need to find an answer to why Arsenal struggles on the road.
The Gunners escaped with a one all tie with Liverpool at Anfield.
This BS has to stop.
Liverpool was down to ten men.
Then lightening struck when Reds David Ngog broke free just outside the box. Ngog fired a perfect top shelf bullet. This laser beat keeper Manuel Almunia in the 46th minute.
We had the advantage but Arsenal couldn’t crack the Reds “D” code.
At several times in the second half it looked like Liverpool was playing twelve guys.
Then magic presto the match changed in an instant.
The clock was going tic, tic, tic. Time was winding on the match. A loss looked for certain. Gunners Rosicky fired a great cross into the teeth of the goalmouth. Chamakh bumps the ball towards the goal. Chamakh gets tangled with Reds keeper Reina. Reina bats the ball into the back of his own net in the 90th minute to us the equalizer.
Thanks be to God for the Abbott and Costello routine by Pepe Reina.
This huge gaff saved our bacon on this Sunday afternoon at Anfield.
This was a totally underserved one point.
If Arsenal is going to win the title, we need to win on the road.
If not we are sunk big time.
The champs always find ways to win on the road.
Last year EPL Champions Chelsea had the best road record.
Next up for us is newly promoted Blackpool.
The Seasiders are coming off a huge win 4-0 win over Wigan.
The only saving grace is that we are home.
It was good to see both Robin Van Persie and Liverpool’s Fernando Torres return to action.
From what I saw, our guys played too much one on one and didn’t work the ball around for a good shot.
Several times Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Samir Nasri, and Tomas Rosicky had good scoring chances but they could close the deal.
We have to learn how to finish.
Not a good start but I’ll take the one point.
Arsenal needs to improve.
De Futebol
Day one is the books for the EPL.
What have we learned?
Chelsea kicked ass in their 6-nil win over newly promoted West Brom.
So, what else is new?
Nada.
This result was entirely expected.
West Brom hung in there in the first half.
The Baggies were only down 2-0 at half before the floodgates opened in the second half.
Didier Drogba hit for the hat trick.
Mate Florent Malouda nailed the daily double.
Frank Lampard added a marker as well in this blow out city win.
Tottenham and Man City fought to a nil-nil draw.
Spurs had the best of it but Tottenham couldn’t crack the code.
This tie could cost them in the long run.
Newly promoted Blackpool pulled the upset special.
The Seasiders shut out Wigan 4-0.
Blackpool last played in the EPL 39 years ago.
1971 was the exact year.
Congrats, to the Seasiders in their first EPL win in many a moon.
Blackburn Rovers defeated Everton 1-0.
Tim Howard’s gaffe in the 14th minute gave the Rovers their needed margin of victory.
Howard came off his line. Instead of grabbing the ball, he knocked the ball to Blackburn’s Nikola Kalinic who deposited the gift into the back of the net.
Game, set, and match to the Rovers.
How much did Howard’s playing in the USA friendly against Brasil on Wednesday hurt him?
Lots!
Stop this stupid friendly crap after the World Cup is done so players can get ready for the EPL.
Give me a freakin break.
The FIFA idiots should be shot.
Bolton and Fulham tied nada-nada.
Sunderland and Birmingham tied at two all.
Aston Villa killed West Ham 3-nil.
Wolves defeated Stoke City 2-1.
The biggie today is Liverpool and Arsenal.
Go Gunners,
Kick some major butt guys.
We need the big “W”.
De Futebol
Today it is for real. The EPL begins play.
The headline match will be Manchester City and Tottenham. This should be a barnburner. Both sides will be loaded and gunning for bear.
Fasten your seat belts folks. Buckle yourself in and watch a wild and woolly affair.
Spurs have some really good players.
Tottenham’s main man will be Jermain Defoe.
Let’s see if Defoe can duplicate last years scoring pace.
I still think Spurs played way above their heads last year. Tottenham will finish in eighth or nine place.
City on the other hand has the head case Carlos Tevez. Tevez is a great player but he doesn’t want to play for Manchester City.
Tevez and Mancini do not get along.
Let’s see how this friction will translate on the pitch.
City will finish just out of the money.
Tottenham is playing at their house White Hart Lane.
Chelsea opens defense of their title against newly promoted West Brom.
The Blues should win hands down but all you Chelsea fans don’t get too excited.
The Blues are on the down side of forty.
The squad is old and Chelsea may win the crown.
Drogba and the rest are inching towards thirty.
This means they guys will start to break down.
Everton takes on Blackburn.
The Toffees have one of the best keepers in the world Tim Howard.
This will be a good one.
Let the games begin.
De Futebol
There is one day left before we begin EPL play. I can’t wait. Yes, I love Brasileiro futebol but my passion is the EPL.
So you can say I am an American with a Brasilian heart and the passion of an Englishman who loves watching the EPL.
My two passions are Brasileiro futebol, and the EPL.
My wife loves futebol but she would like to have a Saturday free of futebol.
Oh yea, my wife had that since May but heck, who is counting.
There are some huge opening round matches. Tottenham battles Manchester City on Saturday. On Sunday, Liverpool takes on my Gunners.
Sure, these are huge opening salvos.
The outcome may have a lot to say on who will win the title and be in the race for the Champions League spots.
However, when the durst settles the usual suspects, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool will battle it out for the EPL crown.
Yes, I did say the Reds.
Why?
Last year was a fluke.
A new manager will make all the difference but the only problem I see is the injury to Fernando Torres. Torres was last seen collapsed on the pitch in Spain’s last match- the finals of the World Cup.
His is world-class player and if Torres can’t play, Liverpool will struggle.
I think Spurs will be a mid table side.
Last year was a fluke for Tottenham.
Man City is a good squad but I think they will finish seventh or eighth.
I think Carlos Tevez is a head case. He is a great player but he hates playing for Roberto Mancini. Tevez will cause problems for Mancini.
How will this translate onto the pitch?
This is the sixty four thousand dollar question.
City will not compete for the title.
This is too much garbage in this clubs closet.
On Saturday, I will talk about my Gunners, Man U, and Chelsea.
Here is a hint.
The Blues are good but they are on a downhill slide.
The glory days are about over for Chelsea.
De Futebol
I am sorry but this is pure stupidity. Let’s play international friendly’s a month after the World Cup is finish.
This makes as much sense as a fart in church.
Give me a break.
FIFA and the rest of national futebol organizations have shit for brains.
Guys, let’s look at the facts.
European regular season futebol is gearing up.
The EPL begins play on August 14th.
The USA takes on Brasil.
Keeper Tim Howard is the only world-class player the USA has is being used in a stupid good for nothing match.
Howard plays for EPL side Everton.
EPL begins regular season play in less than four days.
Howard could get hurt.
Everton should have told the USA federation to go to hell.
This is nuts.
No wonder players like Wayne Rooney, Cesc Fabregas, Fernando Torres, and other great players are breaking down.
You can’t play 150 matches a year for three straight years and not have your body to break down.
Any idiot with a lick of sense knows without rest the body breaks down.
The National Federations are worse than dumb.
Sure Brasil looked good in a win over a horrible USA squad but so what?
Who cares?
Robinho played for Brasil.
Robinho could have been hurt. He plays for Brasil side Santos.
Campeonato is thirteen weeks into the season.
I wish these folks would have a lick of sense and stop this stupid shit.
Let the players rest and get ready for the season.
How many of the top players have had their careers cut short because of this insane schedule.
I can’t wait for the EPL to start.
The count down has begun.
Three days and counting.
Go Arsenal.
