Liverpool kept their slim Champions League hopes alive. The Reds 3-0 whitewash of West Ham moved Liverpool within striking distance of Spurs.

Spurs have 64 points. City has 62 points. The Reds have 59 points.

Liverpool has three bad boys left to play while both Tottenham and Man City have four matches left.

Yossi Benayoun led off the hit parade with a strike in the 19th minute.

David Ngog added a marker in the 29th minute.

The Hammers Robert Green own goal added insult to injury in the 59th minute sealed the deal for the Reds.

What has killed Liverpool’s chances of returning to the Champions League is the injury to super striker Fernando Torres. He will miss the reminder of the season. Torres bum knee may cost Spain a shot at the World Cup title as well.

We will see.

Yet, Rafa Benitez was the idiot who choose this team. He didn’t plan for the future instead he played the future is now game. Too bad Bozo you lose. The great managers always have several game plans. Not Rafa though. This is why I call him the idiot.

Sir Alex is a prime example of this. He knew he was going to lose the fake Ronaldo so Sir Alex kept in the wings such players as Nani and Darron Gibson. These players are keeping Man U in the hunt for their four-peat.

My man Arsene Wenger is another manager who keeps younger players in the system so that when the stars go down he has top-notch players to plug into the system.

The real test of a manager is how well they can perform in the long haul.

Sir Alex and Wenger are two excellent examples.

Before you have a cow and tell me, I don’t know what I am talking about. I know Jose Mourinho. He is good in the short run. He is good for a few years then his act gets old. The players and management rebel against him and then Mourinho exits stage left.

The “Special One” is good only for a few years.

Yes, he can win titles but when Mourinho leaves, the club is in a shambles. Chelsea is an excellent example of this. The Blues are good now but age is setting in. Chelsea maybe has a year or two left before the window of opportunity closes. The Blues don’t have younger talent waiting in the wings.

Trust me on this

Someone is going to be left with milk running down their shorts and it’s not because the cat crept in and drank some either. It’s time put up or shut up for the teams in question !

This is no longer your “grandmama’s Premiership” as it’s now where the “big-dawgs” come to play ! It’s either devour your prey or you’ll be eaten alive by an opponent and that is it” !

Arsene deserves to be respected, having the guts to play young players in the first team, and challenging for the title (well I think they may still be in it) is a feat in itself, not to mention they got to the quarter finals of the CL, while teams like Chelsea and Liverpool could not…

Italian federation opens new scandal inquiry

Rome (AP)—The Italian soccer federation has opened a new investigation into the four-year-old match-fixing scandal that has shaken some of its top clubs.

The federation issued a statement Wednesday saying it would seek documents from a criminal trial in Naples after revelations allegedly linking Inter Milan and other clubs to the scandal.

Inter Milan was awarded the 2006 Serie A title after Juventus was stripped of the honor and relegated to Serie B because of its involvement in the scandal.

The scandal has been the biggest corruption case in the history of Italian soccer. Besides Juventus, three other major clubs—AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina—were penalized. Reggina and Arezzo were also punished.
