Sports/Futebol
Flamengo had a chance to move up the table but Mengao stunk the joint out in a 2-0 loss to Gremio-Barueri. This was a horrible display of futebol. Sure, Petkovic didn’t play but this is not an excuse for reverting to Rubro-Negro’s old ways of getting blown out on the road.
Flamengo didn’t attack. Mengao let Barueri control the match.
Barueri pressure finally paid off in the dying moments of the first half when Val Baiano found the open net in front of the goal in 48th minute to give Barueri the 1-0 lead. This was really stupid defending by Mengao. Four guys jump on one cat with the ball. This left Bruno naked one on two. Guess what dumbos. Goal. Kiss this match goodbye. And this is exactly what happened.
Barueri added the final nail in the coffin in the 69th minute. Everton struck for gold to put Mengao out of their misery 2-0.
Flamengo wasted a huge opportunity instead the stinko bums drop down the table to sixth place. Sure Cruzeiro and Mengao each have 51 points but Raposa has 15 wins compared with Mengao’s 14.
This stinks.
Sao Paulo defeated Internacional 1-0. This snapped a three match-losing streak at Morumbi for Tricolor. Washington hit the match winner in the 47th minute of the first half. The ball skidded through the box off the corner kick. Washington was parked near the right post. Oh, gee look what I found. An easy poke into the back of the net for Washington and this was the old ball game.
Three points for Sao Paulo.
Sao Paulo is now in first place with 55 points. Palmeiras is in second place with 54 points but Alviverde takes on Goias on Thursday. Atletico-MG is in third place with 53 points. Galo has a huge date with bottom feeder Fluminense on Thursday. Po-de-arroz is a dangerous team and they can bite you in the butt if Atletico-MG is not careful. Internacional is in fourth place with 52 points. Fifth place belongs to Cruzeiro with 51 points.
So, it is another crappy day at Dry Rock for all us Flamenguistas.
