The predicable happened today in the EPL. Chelsea cleaned Blackburn’s clock 5-0. This match was pretty much over after the first twenty minutes. The truth of the matter is this. The Blues started out on the prowl and never let up. Chelsea came out breathing fire.
Lampard almost scored in the opening minute but his header was just wide of the mark.
The Blues scored their first goal in the 20th minute. Michael Ballack stole the ball at midfield. He fired a great pass to teammate Nicolas Anelka. Anelka drove the left flank. He fired a great low ball into the box. Rovers Gael Givet stepped in front of the pass. Low and behold, the ball went flying past his own helpless keeper Paul Robinson. Bam. Own goal for Givet. This made 1-0 in favor the Blues.
The rout was on.
Lampard finally got his first tally in the 48th minute. Lampard knocked home the winner to make 2-0 for the Blues. Essian fired a great pass to Drogba. Drogba missed. Here is the kicker. Rovers defender Lars Jackson made a half assed clearance of the ball thus handing a gift goal to Lampard.
Lampard’s PK in the 59th minute gave him the daily double.
Drogba and Michael Essian each scored as well.
The Rovers looked like they were freaked out. Blackburn played scared all match long. They got their butts handed to them.
The victory gives Chelsea first place. We will see if the Blues will stay there for Man U and Liverpool have a tussle on Sunday. If the Red Devils win, they move back into the lead.
Spurs had a chance to keep pace but Tottenham lost to Stoke City 1-0. Glenn Whelan found the back of the net in the 86th minute to steal the three points for Stoke City.
Peter Crouch had two chances to find the equalizer in the final moments but each time the ball was swept away at the last possible moment.
This was heartbreak city for Spurs.
Saturday is heartbreak for all us Flamenguistas. Atletico-MG held serve and beat Vitoria 1-0. This was a must win for Galo. Atletico now has 53 points. Galo trails Palmeiras by one point. Diego Tardelli scored his sixteenth goal of the season in the 27th minute to lead Galo to the win. This goal was a classic bing, bam, boom move the ball down the pitch for the score.
Flamengo needs to beat Botafogo to have a chance to move up the table.
