Flamengo had a chance to move up the table but no; they tied with Vitoria 3-3 in a wild and crazy affair. Lets get real a tie is better than a loss but I would rather have three points for Rubro-Negro. The tie keeps Mengao still within striking distance of the leaders.

Mengao started off the plethora of goals. Dennis Marques received a great crossing pass. He took it straight to the rack. Marques stopped and popped. The ball went Buda Bing off the defender and into the back of the net in the twelfth minute to make it 1-0 Rubro-Negro.

Vitoria answered back with a lethal corner kick. Roger nailed the header in the sixteenth minute to tie this puppy up at one all.

Not to be outdone Flamengo reached deep into their bag of tricks and scored on a brilliant free kick from the left sideline. Petkovic fired a ball that squeezed through three defenders. The ball found its home  dead center of the goal to give Mengao a short lived 2-1 lead after eighteen minutes.

Vitoria came right back two minutes later when Ramon fired a free kick that sail over the wall. Goal top shelf left for a two all tie in the twenty-first minute.

Bruno never saw it coming. He didn’t even flinch when the ball went screaming into the net. Bruno was helpless.

Vitoria took the lead for the first time just before halftime when Ramon broke free into front of the goal. Ramon kissed the ball into the open net for a 3-2 Vitoria lead at the forty minute mark.

I thought Oh Jeez here we go again. Blow out city in Salvador. Mengao has a habit of doing this. This will kill our chances of contending for a Copa Libertadores spot.

I was wrong. Flamengo found another answer just before the end of regulation. Ze-Roberto broke to the right side of the goal. He received a great pass and Ze Roberto knocked home the close range winner to salvage a three all tie for Mengao.

Whew, finally, Mengao didn’t get blown out on the road. A tie is good but I wanted three points.

Rubro-Negro has held the opposition scoreless in six straight matches. Mengao was going for a club record seventh straight shut out but Wednesday night was not the night.

Flamengo is in sixth pace with 42 points.

Sao Paulo had a chance to close the gap to two points between them and first place Palmeiras. Tricolor and Coritiba tied at two all. This could have killed Sao Paulo’s chances of going for a four peat

 Not so fast bucko. Palmeiras had a chance to move seven points ahead of Tricolor but Palmerias blew it. Verdao and Avai tied at two all.

Verdao is five points clear of Sao Paulo.

Tricolor fell behind 2-1 before Washington booted home the rebound off the missed shot in the 65^th minute to save the match for Tricolor. It is not good to have a tie in your house especially when you are fighting for the title.

Sao Paulo and Flamengo will duke it out this Saturday at Maracana.
