Sports/Futebol

Corinthians may have had their chance of winning the Campeonato Brasil killed by Atletico-PR stunning 3-1 victory on Saturday. This was the first road win for Atletico-PR this season. Timao had a chance to move up the table but they played like crap except for the dying moments of the match.

Both sides played a scoreless first half then all heck broke loose in the second half. Furacão capitalized on a dumb Corinthians TO. Wallyson stole the pass. He drove down the right sideline. Wallyson’s fired a pinpoint pass to teammate Paul Baier. Baier nailed a perfect shot from dead center of the box to give Atletico-PR a 1-0 lead after fifty-two minutes. Corinthians keeper Felipe never had a chance.

Wallyson received as great pass from Marcinho. Wallyson flat out beat Corinthians defender Paulo Andre down the right sideline. Wallyson drove deep into the right side of the box. He let fly with a wicked shot that beat the defenseless keeper Felipe to make 2-0 Furacão after sixty-eight minutes.  The ball went boom right off the left post and into the net.

Corinthians pulled with in one in the eighty-third minute. Ronaldo fired a great free kick into the center of the box. The ball bounced from head to head until Jucilei headed it home to cut the Atletico-PR lead to 2-1.

Wesley rammed the dagger into Corinthians heart in the waning moments of the match too salt this baby away 3-1.

Wesley just flat out beat the keeper with a weak shot from just outside the top of the box. The ball slipped through Felipe’s wickets.

Atletico-MG defeated Gremio Barueri 2-1.

Santo Andre edged Vitoria 1-0.

There are some huge matches on Sunday. Palmeiras battles cross town rival Santos. Verdao needs to win this puppy. Sao Paulo and Atletico-MG have cut into Palmeiras lead. Sao Paulo is two points behind. Atletico-MG is three points from the top of the table.

My team Flamengo has a derby match with Fluminense. Mengao needs to get a full three points to remain in striking distance of the top five. Rubro-Negro can sink Fluminense further into last place. This would do my heart good. For I am surely a Flamenguista.

A change of pace is in order. Chelsea shut out Liverpool 2-0. This surely drove a dagger into the Reds dream of winning the EPL. This was lethal.

The Reds had some early chances but they couldn’t convert. The Blues struck first. Nicolas Anelka knocked home a great low cross pass from teammate Didier Drogba in the 60th minute.

Drogba was at again in the 90th minute when he fired a great low cross pass to Florent Malouda to put the Reds out of their misery.

I don’t get Liverpool. The Reds have great talent yet nine times out of ten they stink the joint out when it counts. Rafael Benitez is a mystery. This clown can never seem to win the one for all the marbles. Sure, the Reds won a Champions League title but lost to Sao Paulo in the FIFA World Club Title.

Another pretender bites the bust.

Arsenal found their scoring touch against Blackburn winning 6-2.

The Rovers took the early lead but the Gunners came roaring back to put this puppy away.

Cesc Fabregas had a hand in five out of the six Arsenal goals.

He was a one man wrecking crew. Fabregas scored in the 57th minute and assisted on four other goals. Go show garoto.

The battle for I am outta here race ended in a two all draw between West Ham and Fulham.

The race for the bottom looks like this.  Portsmouth brings up the rear with three points. West Ham is in 19th place with five points. Hull City is in 18th place with seven points. Wolves are in the 17th place with seven points.

Chelsea sits in first place with 21 points. Manchester United is second with 19.  Third place belongs to Spurs with 16 points. Arsenal is in fourth with 15 points but the Gunners have a game in hand. The mighty Reds are in fifth place with 15 points but Liverpool has an eye popping three losses. This is not good.
