What started out a great day for Flamengo ended in such a major disappointment. Flamengo jumped out to an early 2-0 lead ten minutes into the match. Sport-Recife responded by scoring four goals in eight minutes to destroy Flamengo 4-2 in Recife.

This was a horrible display of futebol by Flamengo. Four goals in eight minutes are worse than bad. It stinks.

Flamengo should be shot but that would be too kind for them.

Emerson scored both goals for Flamengo. The first goal Emerson broke free in the box and fired home the winner to give Flamengo a 1-0 lead six minutes into the match. Emerson’s second goal was a thing of beauty. He was in traffic and he slipped the ball between two defenders and the keeper to make 2-0 Flamengo after ten minutes.

It looked like a Flamengo cakewalk.

From that point on in the match, God knows what happened. Bang, bang, bang, Sport scored four goals in succession.

Duval started the goal parade in the 26^th minute on a header that beat Flamengo keeper Bruno. Then Wendon found the back of the net in the 27^th, 30^th, and 34^th minute to put this baby out of reach.

Flamengo plays great at home but on the road, they stick.

Go figure. 

www.uol.com.br wrote this about the match: situação já estava complicada para o time da casa e, aos 20 minutos, o Rubronegro do Recife ainda perdeu o titular Igor, que jogava como primeiro volante, por conta de uma lesão muscular. No entanto, o que parecia azar simplesmente virou a partida. Com a entrada de Juliano, que não tem o menor cacoete de meio-campista, o Sport foi obrigado a voltar ao esquema 3-5-2. Com mais gente na defesa, o time da casa ficou mais protegido e evitou as investidas do Flamengo.

Even the papers as well as the announcers had no idea what took place. The situation was complicated. Somehow, the game swung in Sport favor when Juliano entered the game. Other than, that no one knows for sure what happened.

I listened to the match on Globo Radio do Rio de Janeiro and never in my life have I seen a game turn on a dime like that. There is usually an event that gives a team a moment swing but never out of the blue. 

Sao Paulo didn’t do much better either. Sao Paulo tied with Avai zero-zero. Avai is near the bottom of the table in 16^th spot. Sao Paulo like Flamengo badly needed to win but Sao Paulo at least picked up a valuable point while Flamengo got nada.

Yes, I know I am hard on Flamengo but they deserve it for the way they played. It was worse than stinks.

Flamengo is in ninth spot with seven points.

Sao Paulo is in tenth spot with six points.

It could be worse.

League leader Internacional and Cruzeiro tied at one all. Fluminense scored a late goal to beat hated rival Botafogo 1-0. Palmeiras defeated Vitoria 2-1. Goias and Gremio Barueri tied at two all.

Internacional is in first with 13 points. Atletico is second with 11 points. Vitoria is third with none points. Santos is fourth with nine.
