Sports/Futebol
I am not staying this is a must win situation for Brasil but this is as close as one can get to calling the match with Uruguay today in Montevideo “ A MUST WIN.”
Brasil trials South American leader Paraguay by three points. Brasil is second place with 21 points. Chile is third with 20 points. Argentina is fourth with 19 points and Uruguay is with striking distance with 17 points.
The top three teams get an automatic pass in to the World Cup while the fourth place team must play a play in game with CONCACAF fourth place team.
My wife and I will be listening to the game via the Internet on Radio Globo do Brasil.
I call this nut cutting time. It’s time for Brasil to man up and play lights out futebol. Forget that you haven’t won in Montevideo in thirty-three years. Three points are a must. A tie will not do. Attack, attack, and attack are the key. Kaka, Robinho, Luis Fabiano, and Pato “The Duck” have to score.
The Brasil press is tearing Dunga a new one. If the team doesn’t do well in the next two World Cup qualifying games and doesn’t win The Confederations Cup in South Africa later this month Dunga will get the heave hoe.
A simple translation goes like this: Brasil needs to win this match. They need to attack better if not Brasil could be eliminated from the South American qualifying. Brasil’s mission is to attack. It is likely the offensive will have the power especially with Suares and Forlan in the lineup.
Dunga likes defense but this time I think we will see Brasil attack.
My instincts tell me that Brasil will win 2-1.
This is just a guess.
USA is in a must win situation against Honduras after stinking the joint out in Costa Rica.
Will home field give the USA the advantage. If Donovan can score and those pesky suspensions of Michael Brady and Sacha Klejestan won’t hurt the team. USA will also be without Maurice Edu and Frankie Hejduk.
Let’s hope so. Soldiers Field could wind up being a very hostile place for The USA team. That’s funny home field that is not home field. Only in America.
Well keep you updated.
