Sports/Futebol

Boca Juniors finally got off the schnid with a win over San Martin de Tucuman 3-0. Martin Palermo led the hit parade with two perfectly placed strikes that found the back of the net. Rodrigo Palacio added the other goal to give Boca a 3-0 white washing of San Martin.

I guess news of Carlos Ischia getting the heave hoe served as a little impetus for the Boca win.

River Plate reverted to their old ways by tying Argentinos Juniors nil-nil. Way to go guys kick butt one week and stink he joint out the next. Yep, this makes perfect sense. To who? I don’t have the foggiest idea.

Lanus is in first place with 34 points. Second place has Velez Sarsfield with 33 points. Third is Huracan with 32 points. River Plate is fifth spot with 24 points. Boca is in fourteenth spot with 19 points.

There are three weeks left in the Clausura.

For River Plate to win this baby they must win the final three matches and then hope Lanus losses all their matches. Will this happen? I wouldn’t bet on it.

The Clausura will resume play on June 13th due to World Cup qualifying that takes place Saturday June 6th and runs through June 12.

We will talk about the World Cup qualifying on Wednesday.
