Guess what? Newcastle salvaged a 1-1 tie with Stoke City. The clock was going tick, tick, tick, on Newcastle’s season. They are on the brink of being sent down to the Championship League.
Then all of a sudden a hero emerged for the Magpies, Andrew Carroll. On a wonderfully tossed throw in ball by Newcastle into the center of the box, Andrew Carroll’s header slipped past the keeper and a defender to level the match at one all in the 81st minute. This goal may have saved the season for Newcastle.
Newcastle escaped with a 1-1 tie with Stoke City. This was a badly needed point for Newcastle. They are now tied with Middlesbrough for 18th spot. Newcastle and Middlesbrough each have 30 points.
Both teams trail Sunderland by a two points. Sunderland has 32 points.
Stayed tuned as the relegation zone battles continue to rage on.

What a beautiful day for futebol. The big boys in The EPL all won. Liverpool killed Blackburn 4-0. Chelsea had a bit of scare from Bolton but won 4-3. Manchester United slipped past Sunderland 2-1.
Manchester United is a top the table with 71 points in 31 games. Liverpool is second with 70 points in 32 games. Chelsea is third with 68 points in 32 games.
According to the Associated Press, Fernando Torres led the way for Liverpool with two goals.
I watched the Chelsea-Bolton on the Fox Soccer Channel. You can see my Saturdays are always exciting. For me, yes. But for my wife no but what can I say. I love this stuff. It floats my boat. Actually my wife loves The NFL. She is a big futebol fan too. My wife is from Brasil. She is a Carioca. That means she is from Rio de Janeiro.
Chelsea jumped out to an early four zero lead but Bolton stormed back by scoring three goals in an eight minute span of the second half to give the Chelsea faithful at Stamford Bridge a collective heart attack.
It didn’t happen and Chelsea got the maximum points they needed to stay in striking distance of Manchester United and Liverpool.
Didier Drogba led the Chelsea attack with two goals.
Italian teenager Federico Macheda saved Manchester United’s bacon again when he scored in the 76th minute to lift the Red Devils to the win. Sunderland scored the equalizer in 55 minute on a beautiful goal by Kenwyne Jones.
The race for the relegation zone is heating up. I have the Stoke City-Newcastle game on the Fox Soccer Channel.
Stoke City just scored on beautifully placed ball on a corner kick that was headed into the back of the net by Abdoulaye Faye in the 33rd minute. It’s 1-0 Stoke City over Newcastle.
In the other races for the bottom feeders saw Portsmouth and West Brom tied 2-2. Middlesbrough beat Hull City 3-1.
So the bottom of the table looks like this West Brom is bringing up the rear with 25 points. Newcastle is 19th spot with 29 points. Middlesbrough is 18th spot with 30 points. Sunderland is 17th position with 32 points.
We will keep you posted on the Stoke City- Newcastle game. It’s halftime with Stoke City up on Newcastle 1-0.
